Making a ton of bottle openers on my Onefinity Journeyman X-50 CNC machine. Even though its a hobby CNC router, this machine can batch out product (if you don't mess things up...) Overall it was a pretty easy cnc project! Woodworking on a cnc router is great!

I know its late but I used a lot of oxalic acid to clean carbon on Lichtenberg wood burnings, You did fine, just need to rinse it after you use it, probably a bucket for the acid and then 2 buckets of clear water. Its really not going to do much on ash anyway since ash has very little tannins in it. Love your channel!

From what I got from the video only the magnet holes and the bottle opener holes were to small but the outside cut was good. If that's the case you can adjust them in your design software and reload the g-code. You won't need to zero the machine as long as you don't shut it down or change the bit. Another thing if the outside cut is good just remove that in your design software. I have done this before on my journeyman and it worked out great. That will save you time. I hope this helps.

Not sure if anybody else has commented. With oxalic acid you have to rinse them off with water afterwards. You rinse off all the crystals. I don’t know if the color is what you want it but you can’t leave that on there. I know you know that but generally oxalic acid let it dry then rinse it off with water. Let them dry then finish.

Haven’t watched the whole video yet but you shouldn’t be pushing the flutes up into the collet like that, it’s going to create more vibration and make surface finish worse (and also shorten the life of the tool). The flutes should be sticking out fully with just the shank engaged in the collet.

Great stuff here. But man, why wouldn't you pause the run after each new operation and check your pockets with some gage pins and the bottle opener plate. Just because it's CNC doesn't mean you can forget about the measure three times / cut once rule. Also, I would have attempted to chase the work with the corrected path and a compression bit... but that's just me being a cheap bastard! Anyway, I'm glad I found this channel and you now have a new subscriber.

Oxalic acid is edible, and non toxic, in crystal form I am not sure if that changes or not but in wild foods it's quite a good taste, it's what gives a tangy sort of flavor, in bushcraft use wild sorrel gives a beautiful contrast with other strong salad ingredients like rocket. Adding it to a chacuterie flavoured like board would be mouth watering.
If it's mixed with something else it might be harmful but on a bottle top 100% oxalic shouldn't be an issue.
It does give a diuretic effect if you eat lots and lots of it, but by lots I mean you would have to puree a garbage bags worth of wild sorrel and knock it back. Also it can but is very rare to have alergic reactions in people from it.

@@HamiltonDilbeck No problem, I just wouldn't want to see all that wood being dumped for no reason man.
I mean do double check with a trained pharmacist but the crystallization of things like that in foods is usually a safe thing, in some cases even helpful, Like that is how they used to make paracetamol from the I can't remember the name of that acid from the willow tree, but it used to be sold as "something? crystals" before it became paracetamol .

Hey Ham - probably stupid question, but are all he cutouts done with a laser? Does it leave black heat marks in the wood?
