      @@likeasoldier What's an alternative price model then? They charge 1 price no matter the value of the card? That number would be much more than the current cost for cheap cards making them not worth grading. Probably would have to be at least $30 a card, probably closer to $40 or $50. Then they would make less money and people would never be able to get cheaper cards graded.

    From a collector standpoint, I would buy nice 9's instead of 10's, because there is so little difference in quality between a nice 9 and a 10 that we generally can't see the difference without magnification or tilting the card at an angle under a bright light. :)

      Nah. Nothing wrong with humans grading. Worked for years. HGA just gives every card a 9.5 lol A.I. too harsh on centering IMO.
      They showed that the corners and centering play a big role in why some didn’t gem mint. Problem with a lot of chrome cards, especially Panini ones, is surface damage/print lines. Basically impossible to check surface issue of a card in a slab. Since the surface of the slab itself has scratches.

    Geoff, great video - one question regarding PSA for which I haven’t gotten a consistent answer to - and have had inconsistent grading results: does the presence of a hologram/sticker on the back of the card (ie Steiner, Fanatics, PsA, Beckett Witnessed or the player’s own respective company) impact the card’s grade? For several months PSA said it would not and I received many 9’s to back that up on vintage cards. In the last couple months the story changed and was told it would dock by a numeric grade and my last batch of cards reflect that too (unfortunately all 8’s). Any insight or thoughts from your PSA experience?

    You should take high rez photos of your cards b4 sending them in because what if it was a PSA grader that put corner marks on those cards? They're human and handle them outside of their cases so I'm sure they've caused damage themselves sometimes. I've even seen them catch them inside the bottom stoppers of the slab putting a crease in them. So they're a 10 but now have a crease but they still send them back. PSA has been getting some really bad reputation these last few months with some truly insulting grades with ppl breaking out 4s and 5s of amazing looking card with no surface defects and sending them to other really tough companies and getting 8s and 9.5s back. They REALLY need to get their act together as a lot of people are losing faith in them.

      Bulk submitters get priority treatment once in the queue at PSA. So all things being equal you typically come out ahead when working with a bulk submitter.

    The sticker auto of Kevin Porter Jr at 8:19 pretty much sums it all up about today's cards. Sticker Auto and scribble of his initials (not even an auto). Not even sure he signs this scribble as I compare his "Autos" to his "Autos" which are wildly different...even the scribble isn't consistent. Sad situation of modern cards. On a side note, Joe reminds me of Bill Belichick.

    When he says he didn’t do his homework when he gets a 9, what is he saying is the alternative? He can’t modify or clean the card. Would he rather have not sent it in if he knew it wasn’t in 10 range?

  • @CL-hs3nc
    @CL-hs3nc Před 2 lety

    If you would have know those 9's wouldn't be 10's would you still have sent them in for grading? I cannot believe they still can't get the centering right on every card, especially given the prices on a lot of these packs.

    Geoff, when you say you didn't do a good enough job checking them, when they get a PSA 9. Do you mean you wouldn't have submitted them if you believed they'd grade a 9?
    Isn't there still value in a PSA 9?

      This man does not care about his consumers bro. Do your own research and you will be MUCH better off. This whole account is a version of the pyramid scheme. Have you ever noticed how Geoff always tell you his investments strategies after the time period has already passed to use them??? Or have you noticed that he tells his whole channel of thousands of people who he is investing in solely because he’s going to make money off of his viewers buying those same investments. This man is a joke and this channel is the definition of cringe.
