Maron is a loser who is so emotionally fragile know one can tell him he's unfunny. Norm MacDonald tried (awkwardly) during a podcast once, but that's as close as it's come. Him acting like he's a successful stand up is a tragic delusion. In fact his entire life is a tragic delusion.

I'm NOT a comedy snob, truly I'm not... But, Stewart Lee is the DISTILLATION of everything we know and love about good comedy... By the way, clever as he ARCHLY is, there is a genuine soul at the centre of his humour... If Lee challenges ANYONE, (and he does...) he challenges himself more... Agreed, and for the exact same reason. In the UK 'what's up?' is a genuine inquiry which means 'what's wrong, why are you upset/annoyed?'. Back in the 90s when I first heard an American ask me 'what's up?', I replied 'Nothing, why?'. He looked confused and said 'No, just saying whatssup'. It took me a while to realise he was just saying 'hello, how are you?', like when we say "alright mate'.

Matthew McVeagh I've listened to that a couple of times - it is a little bizarre, he hardly lets anyone else speak and seems in a pretty bad mood. I assumed it was because he wasn't that keen on going back over all that old stuff (which he doesn't seem to rate as highly as Herring) and that he doesn't think it merits re-releasing. Wouldn't have said he is drunk though (even if he was drinking during it) Apparently he also went on about Herring's agents for ages, and how they were treating him badly, which resulted in a bit of an awkward atmosphere in the room (all that was cut out)

Also, "Y'alright" is just like saying hello, it's not a question! I understand how it can sound weird but she was almost certainly being friendly and just trying to say hi. Probably trying to initiate a conversation.
If someone says "y'alright' then all you need to say back is "y'alright". Just think of it as saying "hey".
