    Even tho I’m out the game, that first tip is a gem, especially knowing what I know now. High consistency in focusing on problem areas is definitely a cheat code, wish I even knew that was an option back then lol I’d just emphasize certain things during workouts but it’d be more effective to have most of the workout centered around just those two things

    Im training outside everydays, but sometimes that's hurt. Because when I miss a shot, the ball goes like 1km away from the court and when is hot weather and I most go from ball running that's make me humble 😂

    Can you make by yourself training videos outside please because I am a freshman hooper ans I can't afford to go to the gym or any fancy equipment so I always take my ball outside in the rain or winter but it's hard to train outside so can you please make outside training videos

    This is a great topic and often overlooked! I’d add trying to make the workout the most efficient possible. This would include have your workout planned before you go to the court. This will hopefully prevent dilly-dallying trying to decide what skill to work on. Also giving structure and focus. In respect to pushing oneself, utilizing your mind to imagine a defender can help you push yourself to speeds and discomfort that can mimic the intensity of a game.

    Also when you wanna train by yourself and you play around an 1hr make sure that the 30minutes of it is something new. Because when you play pickup you always encounter something new that you can add to your game it may be a small thing but it can be handy when needed. So when you play by yourself its just your thoughts but when your with someone both of you have different approach to the game and you can learn from them and add it to your bag. So when you play by yourself try doing something different or something out of the box or out of your comfort zones, cuz in real games its very hard to get to your own pace and comfort because sometimes the defense controls you intsead of vice versa. Or vice versa when ur the one playing D

    Thanks for video. I am 48 and train myself 99% of time. Most important, in my view, for solo leveling(!) Is 'game speed'. It is of course not only for training alone but easy to forget when exercising self.

    Yo this was pretty helpful thanks. Also in my case I'm mostly working in or around the post, since I'm our team's 6'5" Center. I can get the modt out of myself in the paint and on rebounds so I focus on doing finishes where I actively finish in the paint, with different variations, like a fake into a step through etc. Should I also try stepping out into a fadeaway for example? Or keep on adding stuff to make the most out of paint game. I usually have the defense dummy available when working out and it really helps a lot

      I would definitely start to add stuff such as the fade to your game in the post idk how old you are but keep getting better at what you are good at and expanding your game at the same time

      @@tjltraining thanks, I'll add more of that too. I'm also doing mid range shooting but I rarely get into a position where a shot is the better option than getting points through the paint. I'm 19, still tryna go pro if possible. I'm in Europe and I'm catching up with ppl who play semi pro for now so I believe if I work really hard and get into contact with good coaches I could still make it

      Definitely continue to expand your game, at 6’5 in higher leagues you’ll be more the 3/4 position so being able to at least catch and attack from the 3 will help and add a little handle will be helpful, keep grinding bro💪🏼

      @@tjltraining okay thank you my guy, I could definitely improve my handles and driving too. I started out with bball a bit late, 3 yrs ago, so it's mostly about making fundamentals better and since I play 5 I'm focusing on that the most.
      In the paint I mostly work on reps of hooks, drop steps and fake into step thrus, then add a dummy and do variations at higher speeds plus counter moves to know how to react. I make reps until I make 6 in a row then move on, finish off with Mikans and FTs. So after that I could add drive variations from the 3 plus some mid range shots and keep at it. Based on how much time I'll have for the workout I could focus on one or the other more for the day. Off season is coming soon so imma try to get the most out of it

    Today i spent 3 hours just focusing on my shooting, rarely did layups or floaters but watched a video of shooting and focused on consistency and perfection everytime, i can say, after going in 100 degree weather grinding for hours, i did improve my shooting

    I always END MY workouts with a made 3 a FT a layup and then backwards. So I have to make 6 shots. If I miss but get my rebound before it hits the floor I can go back to that missed shot…

    If I am only working on 2 skills for a long peroid of time it will get me better with those 2 skills I picked but what about my other skills wouldn't I start to get worse at my other skills becuase I am not practicing them because I am only working on those 2 specific skills?

    Yo coach I’m a 6’3 150 lb guard and trying out for my local cc basketball team in 6 months, after not playing competitively for 2 years. I feel my weakness is my size and strength so I started hitting the gym with a 4 day upper lower/core split. Is this a good plan/schedule you’ll recommend, also would I be able to do these drills during rest days ? Or is that overkill to my body ?

      would highly reccomend checking out my off-season webinar which explains exactly how to balance the two. But I would have one full off day per week, 4 days lifting is solid and skill 5-6 days a week. make sure you ramp up on dont go from not doing much to going hard right away.

      Make sure your doing things like push-ups and chin ups for your upper body and for lower body do squats and pin squats and jumps like broad jumps and vertical approach jumps to keep and build athleticism. Make sure to get your rest and eat as much and possibly if you truly want to gain strength and weight!

    so for example there's so many things I wanna work on, for example my shooting, passes, and ball handling.
    But I since I'm a center (I'm 5'10) I want to concetrate in post moves,should I just practice exactly only 1 move,or should I practice only post moves in general?

    What should I do next to improve my game even further? I played for rec this year and I'm 14, about to be in HS I wanna make JV, but my best bet is prob freshman maybe JV. I have a great shot, like Varisty level kinda shot, I have okay finishing, not the best tho, and I have terrible handles like really bad, what should I do next to improve my game

      You should work on your handles then. If you have a bad finish go to other videos and look up solo finishing drills

    Love working out alone. You gotta add 7 spots drill. 7 spots all own rebounds, must make all 7 in under 1 minute and repeat. 21 shots made in under 3 minutes elite, 70 shots made in under 10 minutes than your me. Haha

      if ball handling and finishing are the focuses, that should be 80% of the work that you do, shooting and passing can be the other 20%

      What are you best at? Do what you struggle with a little more often than what your strong in so if your a knockdown 3pt shooter try to expand your game by working on your finishing so you can get more open shots because people are afraid of your drive

      You could focus on your game in the things that you're actually using but you have to know that if you get better in other aspects of your game, you're increasing your chances to be a more all around player, I don't mean like you have to work your handles like Kyrie, but if you can shoot and create space to shoot or go to the basket you're increasing the possibilities to get more points.
      And, you can focus on workouts for pivots and end the workout with an easy shooting session (it doesn't have to be too much complicated), what you want is to develop, and an easy shooting drills will help you to work on it at the same time you're working on your strengths

    For shooting, what is an optimal "range" of make % to be considered sufficiently challenging? I think we can agree that if you're shooting 80% on spot-up 3s, you can probably move onto dribble or off-the-catch variations. I think we can also agree that if you're shooting 10% on spot-ups, moving into other variations probably isn't going to be improving your overall shot-making ability. Off and on days are normal, but what's the threshold you would say it's acceptable to move on to try a harder variation?

      everyone is a different level shooter so Is no one certain percentage, each player will be different, like you said if someone is making 8/10 for a drill is probably too easy, each player can handle different levels of difficulty while still keeping motivation, just constantly aim for just outside what you are capable of

I realize this is quite a nuanced point, as even if someone is chucking 3s outside of their range, eventually they'll start knocking them down as they get stronger and build coordination. But from an efficiency standpoint, I was wondering if you had a POV on this as you've progressed and helped others.

      Not a trainer, but I think 60-70% (consistently) is usually sufficient to consider trying a more difficult variation (although the current variation is still helpful). I think more important than your make % at the current level is your make % at the next level, which you don't know until you try it. I've heard from a couple of trainers that 60%-80% is the "goldilocks zone" for the right amount of challenge for most people, so my goal is usually 3/5, 5/8, 6/10, etc. If you have a decent shot at that goal I think that particular level of difficulty is helpful in some way. If you're way off, then regress to an easier variation to calibrate your shot and build more psychological momentum before trying that level again.

      work out/ play against other people more, all the work in the world by yourself wont prepare you for real defense, practice against real defense more

    I’m a 5’9 pg, and I feel like my finishing and mid-range are quite good, but my shooting doesn’t translate well to the 3pt, is there any way to fix this? I hear the term “just put more reps up” but I just can’t seem to get better at shooting from deep like that.

      Yes it could be your form may not be optimal from deep ( may have a hitch) which may make it tough to generate enough power to shoot consistently from 3

    I’m 5 10 130 17 Junior and was on the varsity workouts and fall ball team but ended up getting cut from varsity and they didn’t look at me for JV whatsoever
    I decided to join powerlifting and made states so should I continue to lift (145 255 320 are my maxes) or should I give basketball 1 last try

      yes it certainly is. Big thing is to learn to breathe primarily through your nose and belly breathe as opposed to breathing with your chest. Good thing to work on this is mouth tape when you sleep and can even practice first 10 minutes of your workout only breathing through your nose and keeping your mouth closed

      I think you just contradicted yourself, you said you are doing it the classic way, stick to basic simple shots but you still aren’t getting better, that’s why we mix it up and do variable practice instead

    Hey man I live in a townhouse and there are no courts near me will indoor mini hoops help. Since I am a 13 year old I can’t afford to train and go everywhere? Can you please help me with my solution.

      Grab a basketball and go outside and work on your handle and passing, find an older dude who you can workout with and bring you places, study film, find a way to get better no matter what, mini hoop won’t do anything for you

      You’ll need to constantly change it up, that’s like saying if you follow the same lifting workout and never change the weight, sets or reps will you get stronger? Of course the answer is no, need to constantly change it up to keep an appropriate level of challenge

    I have a very good consistent shot when I’m playing indoor, but outdoor I can’t hit anything, will shooting outdoors mess up my shot?

    Man I don’t know what drills should I do as a 2 meter Center to improve my post game, most of the times in the post I get double/triple teamed and cant even pass

      Study film to see how people in the nba pass off double teams Joel Embiid. Play post up 1v1 as much as possible and then train 2-3 moves and all those options as much as possible

      Need to be more specific and have a focus, too broad and if there is no specific plan or goal you won’t see much improvement

      No, you need to have a main area of focus and keep focusing on that and can sprinkle in the other stuff during workouts

    This doesn’t make sense to me, if I practiced to get good at floaters and layups, but then realize my shot is lacking, if I spend more time on my shot, my floaters and layups will get worse since I’m not doing them as much or as often. I want to improve on as much as possible but I can’t if I’m only emphasizing on 1 or 2 components

      You can’t become great at anything working on everything, pick the most important and sprinkle in the other stuff, didn’t say you can’t do anything else but your FOCUS is on 1-2 things
