So this is in my top ten games of all time. I’m a history nut and I love this game for giving me that feeling of building one of those great ancient civs. Yes it is complex, and even I still find myself messing up the application of some advancements. But darn if it isn’t a great game. I do like it infinitely more than the FFG Civilization game and you really do need to have the expansion in first edition or this new edition. Sorry to say that I think the production quality of the new edition looks awful compared to the first edition. So I won’t be getting the new version. That said, if it’s the only one you can get, GET IT! The one thing I wish it had was a regional map of actual geographic areas. I’ve toyed with making my own Mediterranean map, but it’d be nice if they made a map pack and maybe some special historical based scenarios or events (like the explosion of Thera and all that good stuff. Speaking of Thera, did you know that Santorini is on the island of Thera??)
Excellent! I like FGG’s game quite a bit, and I prefer this edition of CoC to the previous one, but we agree that it’s a great game!
Enjoyed the video! In a previous video you reviewed Civilization: A New Dawn with the Terra Incognita Expansion. How does that compare?
That's a question I'm still wrestling with. Civ is shorter, which means it will probably hit the table more often. But there is just something about CoC...

Agree with Cody's rating. Great game, but if you've got one (or God forbid) two AP players it can really, like painfully, drag - take a book...

Just play with timelimits. It is the AP person who has the problem really...
I am fine with one AP pause for a player, like a very big decsion or sudden thing hapening. Once.
People who get AP every time should not play big games in a group. I play boardgames a lot and more and more it is the right game for the right person (including for myself).
Just ordered this game after watching. I love empire building games. Looks great.

I love brussels sprouts! Cody, I assume you have played the original with the Civilizations expansion; how does the new version compare?
I played the original but not with the expansions. Essentially, this version has the expansions baked right in.
