New Yamaha Helm Master EX Autopilot set up. This is a 2021 Regulator 26xo with the new Yamaha Helm Master EX binnacle and Yamaha Autopilot.
Setting up the autopilot was very easy, hopefully this quick look proves to be helpful.
The overall feel of the system was phenomenal. The throttle was easy and predictable to actuate. The autopilot set up felt identical to the Garmin reactor series. There were 2 quick and easy set up wizards to perform and the autopilot worked flawlessly.

How do you or what do you need to add the autopilot to the 8616? I'm trying to figure that out on mine now

.. what do you need to add the autopilot to the 8616? is it enough with the J1939 cable? .. have the same plotter and a F300 NSB with Helmmaster EX and DES ..

It shouldn't be too difficult. Since you have the EX DEC (electronic throttle) and the DES, the autopilot module is really a plug and play system. Shoot me an email and I will send you the build components needed. Most of this stuff is on backorder from Yamaha right now, but at least I can get you a parts list. [e-mail]

what are the F1 and F2 buttons for on the control panel?

Nothing yet. They will be releasing more functionality as the system ages.

Can it work with the Garmin Auto Guidance feature?

Yes. When u mark a point on the plotter and use “auto guidance” you can’t initiate the autopilot from the plotter anymore. You have to push “track point” on the yamaha panel. Yamaha doesn’t like it when outside software controls their system. Pretty stupid, but they are generally super cautious.

@@socal0buck yes you can. You just have to initiate the track through the yamaha interface and not directly on the Garmin.
