Only classical physics is deterministic. Quantum mechanics is not deterministic therefore free will can exist in quantum mechanics.

So why is the universe itself not also a crap pseudo complexity generator running on time?
The universe started with some initial condition. The universe obeys strict rules. You can't predict the universes evolution due to QM. Thats all pretty f-ing similar to cellular automata.

conway's game of life aribtrary turning machine arbitrary computer program. So your argument is that computer programs are "fake complexity generators"? Remind me again why we are listening to a chemists perspective on computation.

chemistry is computation. The atomic bonds in a chemical reaction are parameters in the arbitrary turing machine.

Can someone help me understand. I don't understand what he means by pseudo complexity. What is real complexity, then?

There is no fundamental difference between pseudo/illusionary and real. Reality is effect / all things interconnected by any effect. Falsehoods, illusions, the hypothetical have effect and utility as much as truth, the actual state, "reality".
      Utility does not imply truth.
What is not real has no effect. You can't think of anything not real as it would already take effect onto your thoughts and actions.
The difference between pseudo/illusionary and real is just that both lie in different but intersecting sub-domains of reality (the mental and the physical).
But both domains interact with / affect each other and are therefore part of the same reality.

I kinda like him in some regards, but in some regards I feel like I don’t like him? Because he acts likes he’s an expert in all areas only because he is smart. The AI comments he made I thought was kinda outrageous. I’m not sure if I like him or not 😂

If cellular automata can mine novelty from the universe, we should be able to build other types of automata that mine novel information for subjects like math, chemistry, physics, or whatever really. You should be able to build a billions of automata that mine for novel information in perpetuity, if you can pay for it.

As I've posted above, cellular automata are Turing complete, so they can compute any computable function, anything a classical computer can do they can also, it so happens that our mostly Von Neuman based computers are not very efficient running gigantic scale cellular automata.

Lex, please 🙏 read "The Matter with Things" by McGilchrist. There is a huge section on complexity, evolution, genetics, cellular biology, quantum physics, psychiatry, neuroscience, philosophy and much more.
I believe in you, that you can get through this tick book😵‍💫.
    It left me speechless.

Cellular Automata (CA) at least in their more powerful examples, are Turing complex, so it's as complex as any general computing device, in the sense that, if he believes the complexity seem in the universe can be simulated on a computer, CA can do that to, there are examples over the internet of humongous CA simulations where CA simulate other CA even (including watches and other devices) !

The title alone tells me this conversation is going to be absolute nonsense.
First off, not all automata are the same.
Second off, the game of life alone is a turing complete system.
If life is fake complexity, then quite literally all of computation is fake complexity: including the human system.
