- Sunidhi Chauhan, in a candid chat with ETimes TV, does not show surprise that Neha Kakkar, Himesh Reshammiya and Vishal Dadlani are showering only praises on contestants. She says even she was told to do the same thing when she judged the show back in the day, which is why she eventually quit.

The point where Sunidhi said that audiences dont connect with the judges' comments anymore, it is true! This is the only reason I donot watch reality shows anymore, bcz I dont feel connected at all and its frustrating! There is no critisism at all. Sa re ga ma pa, indian idol, we waited for new seasons every year previously, bt now? Its jst sad nd disheartening.

I donot even call them songs! They r basically some rhyming lines said aloud in a particular rhythm. There is no singing, I hate the fact that I have to live in such a generation where there is noooo more song, raag, taal, murkiyan, no more talking about thaat. Why!

Songs like Laal ishq, aayat, Ab ke sawan, Ek dil hai, baithi hai etc.. are perfect examples of songs with semi classical approach in them. Yeah, i agree that the number of such songs has reduced dramatically but we get a few in between. As long as directors like ARRehman, Shankar mahadevan, Amit Trivedi, and singers like Arijit, Shreya, etc.. are there in the industry , we ll get such songs... About the current fast beat, hip hop , rapp songs, its trending now, so, obviously, songs of such kinds would be produced more...
Please don’t compare old reality shows with new reality shows. Back then they didn’t know what cheating was or frictionalising content. It was very authentic and genuine they also didn’t have auto tune
Very true. Contestants those days really had tough competition. The different rounds were judged very stringently. Today, we do see very good fresh talented participants, but the judges sound so fake. Their reaction to every singer is "arre baap re! This is the most sensational talent the world has ever come across. Out of the world, outstanding, kya baat hai, blablabla" ... Same for almost every performer out there. In fact, my question is, why are the judges sitting there at all, if all they are doing is aahaaing and ohoing and crying everytime a "pyari ma" song is sung?

I’ve seen Sunidhi live in London in 2016. She’s absolutely flawless and true to her profession and blessed vocals.
Soo many are on reality shows modulating their voices to expect the same fanbase as these legends. Sad times for singers.
Nothing new is coming out because everyone is being told to try and emulate what’s already been gone and done.
Totally agree. Sunidhi was a pioneer when she first came onto the scene, nobody sounded like her. I used to watch some of these audition programmes but I feel like there's no creativity because everyone is expected to cover a song in exactly the same way that the original singer sang it. Right down to the same vocal inflections and adlibs. Additionally I can't think of many recent winners who have gone on to properly build successful careers in music after the show. I shouldn't be surprised but the producers keep prioritising ratings and entertainment value over actually nurturing talents.

In my opinion, the talent shows in India should be based on "TALENT" and NOT on their personal circumstances.

I had been a part of Indian idol in 2013 … i had literally seen all the mean things happening and that time the major negtv role was of Anu Malik. I am happy now he is not that major role in the team atleat. All the contents are morphed/doctored/auto tuned before we all see them on screen.

Matlab k subah 7 ka samay diya tha or main jab pahochi waha koi crew bhi nhi tha. 3 baje k aas paas Anu malik, sunidhi chauhan or salim merchant aaye venue pe. Or 2 baje aaye huye the sa re ga ma k top 50 contestants jinme pavni pandey bhi thi. Un sab ka audition pehle liya gaya or sabko select kiya gaya. Or har Ek contestant k baad judges 30/40 min ka break lete the. Ese karte huye meri baari raat k 12:30 baje aai.
Us waqt un logo k mood na hone ka bahana de kar kaha k agli baar aaiyega hum khafi thak gaye hai.
Bakayda waha k contestants or crew or jo judges humara selection initial stage pe lete hai woh bhi shocked the yeh sun k . Tab ek bande ne aake puchha ki tumje kya lagta hai tumhe isse bollywood mein chance milega?

Indian Idol used to be such a prestigious show and it has gotten converted into ugly comedy show from himesh Reshamiya, Neha Kakkar onwards. It has already crossed lowest peak .
I m not against it but cuz of it's style SAREGAMA got distroyed. SAREGAMA was a OG show and in TRP save thy too got down.

Why isn’t anyone getting eliminated from Indian idol, then what’s the point. Before Indian idol was good now I don’t even watch the whole episode. Honestly I did see room for improvement for many songs but the judge didn’t say nothing. I thought it was just the beginning which is why they were slacking off. Now I don’t get it.

You are 100% right sunidhi mam, i felt that anjali gaikwad was most genuinely disciplined and tough contestant and she wasn't given footage, she was completely ignored, she was allowed to sing only one song (most of which wasn't telecasted), her performance was kept at last, judge rarely gave her comments !her elimination from show was completely planned

If sunidhi was asked to praise the contestants, than that might have happened in Season 6 (2012) because when Sunidhi was part of the judging panel in the last season (2010), I saw her giving contestants her opinion of how they sang, and sometimes she criticized them
Sunidhi Chauhan Can't do fake judging like Neha , himesh, Vishal , that's way she left indian idol. In session 5,6 sunidhi chauhan is very straight forward like sonu nigam , Acche ko Accha bolti thi aur bure ko bura . Best judge ever ❤️🙌

If I am not wrong (which I am not), her early childhood and original name was 'Nidhi'.
Some music Director or Composer (I am not sure which one) changed her name later; as I learnt later.
But I am sure for more than correct that her appearance during 'Meri Awaz Suno' was 'Nidhi' - give or take more than 100 percent.

It's true all reality shows are just about showering contestants with praises. Even in dance shows all perform superb then who is supposed to get eliminated? As a dancer I can see someone did better but according to judges everyone is rockstar
