Hi mate great video. The creta block is a great wreck to look at. Us fisherman stand on the block itself in winter and catch cod there. There’s a wreck which you missed called the saab j , it’s located at bay ness right up by the cliff . It was an old trawler which ran aground in about 1990 I believe. Great video

We've holidayed up around Alnwick and Bamborough Castle - there's another wreck a few miles south of that, in the lee of another ruined castle(Can't remember the name) . The Rohilla, and the lass who survived it have been on tv, I think. She was a very fortunate lady.

Interesting video, albeit with some confusing comments. Sadly, I find the inlaid photo from the following morning to be a little ghoulish, as two of my friends lost their lives in this tragedy. The name, “Admiral Van Tromp,” came from a famous Dutch Admiral who vowed to sweep the British from the seas, and was chosen by the boat’s owner who happens to be Dutch. He went even further, in that he lashed a broom to her mast as a symbol, going against fishing superstition regarding brooms and fishing equipment.⚓️⚓️
Very interesting. What you refer to as Saltwick Nab is actually called the black nab. Locally known as the 3 sisters. There obviously used to be 3 columns rather than just the one that is remaining. Saltwick nab is further up the coast towards Whitby where the Rohilla lies.

Thats the only other concrete ship ive heard of after the 1 in the river wear in sunderland. its still pretty much intact but half submerged on the south river bank
really interesting video, am I right thinking the hospital ship was the same wreck that the rushed down from Redcar to help? but that could be another wreck as I'm sure they were working on that one for about 3 days or so. It was also surprising to learn that there was a concrete ship working on the tees, I've wanted to see one of these for years and didn't know we had one albeit a wreck now so close.
Yes the rescue of the SS Rohilla took place over 3 days and they did come from Redcar to help. There is so much history about and so close to us all. Thanks for watching

I know where the concrete ship is and I will be able to find the trawler ok but the medical ship the one I really want to see I don't know where that is?? Its just when I have googled its location it says its inaccessible by foot but in this video it looks like its in the middle of the other two wrecks? Thanks any help would be appreciated please

@@Babygrumplin55 Then I expect it was something to do with the original registration of the name, obliging them to go with Von over the correct van, either that or a scribal error.
Remember walking around the creteblock wreck with my grandad and father in the late 70's. Brought back loads of memories thanks.

Very interesting and very moving watching the footage of the Rohilla. There was also another survivor of that wreck in the form of a black kitten.

I wonder if they used the reasonably new street name Rohilla close from the wreck name 🤔 (edit, the streets in whitby, towards sainsburys end)
