  • Navy to dismantle sunken cargo ship on Thames holding unstable explosives. Masts to be axed from explosive-filled shipwreck in safety bid.
    More details:
For those of you that follow the news, World War Two stories, shipwrecks or are Londoners or even a combination of things, this ship sitting here for nearly 80 years has been a hazard since 1944 and to put it in context, the Beirut explosion of 2020 that affected half of the city when that explosion has happened was 552 tons of (ammonium nitrate) an FBI report later concluded (not the 2,752 tons) meaning this amount under the water is more than double the ordinance. One A-bomb dropped in 1945 on Japan for example was the equivalent of 15,000 tons to TNT. So 1,400 tons going up would be a big explosion and the masts have to finally come down.
There is a World War Two playlist on this channel.
