I'm Planning On RETIRING In AFRICA Instead of JAMAICA 🇯🇲

- My CZcams family, some of you are going to agree with the position I took in this video, while others are going to cuss me out. Whichever way you guys critique me, I still LOVE you all the same.
I made this video to clarify my stance on where I want to retire. I LOVE Jamaica whole heap, but the leadership has to become more accountable. Many diasporans are outside of Jamaica retired and about to retire and are afraid of returning home because of the uncontrollable crime. I'm not putting my country down, but we must hold the Jamaican political leaders feet to the fire.

I am a Jamaican living in USA for 50 years and Africa is where I will live out my retirement years. I agree with you wholeheartedly
You are welcome at any time, the motherland missing its children😁
Welcome Sillarose... we need more of the good Jamaicans this way... it's hard for our generation to adapt in such a new environment
You not even a Jamaican anymore after 50 years yea I think Africa would be best
My husband and I have made Tanzania home.We agree with your wholeheartedly..I love my Island and I love this African Continent with all my heart
@@giniolamy giraffe that goes to France still stays a giraffe. He is Jamaican and he is have africa in him so...
We need to send this video to the elected officials in Jamaica. They need to understand that Jamaicans love Jamaica and want it to be a viable option for us to return to.
Althea! I don't want to sound like a pessimist, but good luck..
Totally agree
Jamaica is very much a viable option
Face REALITY don't bother-you're dealing with people who are no different than the white oppressors that they took over from. The REAL problem in JA are the REACTIVE black JAMAICANS who generally don't vote on issues but for party & for the rest of them who don't vote they're APATHETIC/INDIFFERENT-DO YOU SEE THE PROBLEM that the country is in
Unfortunately, everybody love Jamaica and especially the influence from westerners whovwant to own Jamaica! Frankly, too much British influence😢
Wow!! This was well said. Jamaica truly needs major reforms in many areas, and safety is definitely on top of the list. Rwanda has come long way . The country looks amazing 🎉 Thanks for sharing. I’m enjoying your videos!!
Much appreciated Allison
AllyBraham, I love your natural looks, That's your real Looks, Love it
So go to Jamaica and lead the charge. America did not get to be the most developed country in the world by people just complaining, they took action. Black people are cowards anyway.
I am living in the Caribbean and I fully agree with you based on what I have seen. My parents are retired here and they are stressed out still. The western system is designed to keep the Caribbean down. Best hope for the Caribbean is to join forces with Africa and we all work together. I will be coming to East Africa soon and I would like to build a family there. Keep up the great work!
Yes family come through, we need you here.
You’re so right on so many levels!!! They are so corrupt and none of the officials ever gone to prison! I’m sick of them!
Talk the tings, can you imagine all the thievery weh a gwan nobady no gone ina the big house?
Jamaica definitely has its issues, but there is still a lot of good there. I pray for Jamaica daily. Regardless of where you are or go, keep Jamaica in your prayers.
True thing Rose
😂😂😂 a lot of garbage people there you mean
AMEN
The Usain Bold part hit harrdddd!!! Can you imagine, what would they do you and me with our little savings…Mighty God. Enjoy Rwanda, it’s our Kenyan neighbor 👏🏽
Hehe! Many of the die-hards cussing me out
Nuh watch nuh face. You’ve traveled and seen it all. Big up.
This man spoke so well on his experience in life on good and bad i.luv to hear ppl talk positive it's reflected to your soul
Man.....I feel your same love bredren for Jamaica. I am an African American and been visiting Jamaica since 2007 and fell in love wit Jamaica. I try to visit at least once a year since. There is just something about Jamaica that touches your spirit that keeps you longing for the food, the people, the smells and just the irie. BUT that underlying reality of the things that go bad and can go wrong is what keeps a lot from retiring in Jamaica. For me though, there are NOT ENOUGH Jamaicans that own the businesses and establishments.
I had planned to buy some property in Ocho Rios a few years back, I still wish I had, but today I am not too sure I would. HOWEVER, I will still visit Jamaica as much as I can.
Peace and Blessings my people
Everytime family, just invest wisely. 😊
Im a Jamaican living in Jamaica, and you should still invest in the properties...other Races are doing it..even thou you are American, you are BLACK just like the MAJORITY of JAMAICANS..dont let the Chinese and Non Blacks take it all..
@@haleyphamvlog7017 True, but the "oppressed mind" is programmed to kill its own than the others you just described.

My fellow Jamaican brother, I had to subscribe to your channel stat! I agree with you 110%. I'm here in this beast called Amerikkka, working from home and have the advantage of relocating to the continent. However, I do not have the slightest idea where to turn. I recentlyspent seventeendays in Jamaica, and while I enjoyed my stay there, I soon realized how much the country had changed and ultimately decided to not relocate there long term. If only I can be assured that I'll have access to reliable internet and beaches in a country in Africa, I would leave immediately. Still doing my research. The politicians have sold us out the vultures. Smh. Congratulations on your upcoming move to the Motherland. ✊🏾✊🏾✊🏾
My brother internet, light and water are good in Rwanda. They have big lakes, small beach but no salt and sea beaches. So when you need a break, you spend a little of the money you have ($200) and fly down to Dar Es Salaam and soak up some of the salt water beach.... I rather do this than watch my head back.
The politicians have not sold out jamaica, collectively the ignorance of the masses have sold out Jamaica.
54 countries to choose from...internet is everywhere....beaches are plenty and not crowded.....just choose a peaceful country and avoid north africa and french speaking countries.
Africa is being sold out to the Chinese .
Ghana is similar to Jamaica but less violent,so you can take a visit, and see if you will like it..
I endorse and support every single thing you have said here Mr. Richard . I am a Jamaican diasporean and I did a study on the Jamaican political system and it's nexus with crime. Jamaica has been destroyed by political mismanagement and political corruption from within and without. .
Milton! Jamaica has enormous potential, but a few will sacrifice the majority for their own selfish gain.
Am totally in agreement with you, Me Love my country Bad, bad, but the indiscipline, Crime and corruption have me fleeing, And very fast
The so call governments here are all criminals and sellout and puppets.. And who don't agree with you and just a criminal alike them government's..
@GBA, for me, it's not about jamaica, good or bad. Africa is our reel home
The puss!
Yes mi bredda..to be honest I am a 43 yo Jamaican living in Maryland with a net worth of approx $480,000 and Rwanda or Ghana is in my retirement plan
See you in Ghana…….. 😁👍🙏🏽👏. You are making a wise decision my brother.
Try Kenya. It’s more developed than Ghana
You better do it now before that money become worthless.
@Hope Pray Ghanaians R more friendly. Don't get me wrong, I have Kenyan Friends. I even rent a room in my house to one. They R very quiet, but I find Ghanaians to B more open, friendly, and welcoming.
Yes family, let's build a better place that we can truly be at home
I want to go back home to Jamaica. I love my little island so much but the government has to make it safe for us to return. My navel string is tied to JA. No weh no betta than yaad!!

Yes Charmaine, many more coming. I'll do a video on comparing crime in the Caribbean to Africa. You'll realize that Africa, with its custom and traditions, is waaaaay safer than Jamaica
Wow. I thought I wrote this! Same British born, Jamaican parents who planned since 1997 to go ‘home’. Instead I live in the US and visit ja often.
So far have visited east and west Africa with to retire in one and travel the rest of the vast continent.
Jamaica will always be home in my heart.

Africa is your home especially my country Rwanda ❤from massachusetts.
I completely understand everything this man says cause I feel the very same. I love Jamaica but I would like peace of mind when I retire. One love ❤️
I can relate to what you are saying my brother. I am a Jamaican living in the UK and have also decided to relocate to Kenya. In addition to the crime in Jamaica, it has become so expensive
Very much so, you just want to sit back and relax when you retire. I will not live in conflict zones or drama because I was born there.
I'm 27 Jamaican in Jamaica and i want to visit a few African countries in the coming years to see where best i could settle. This has been on my soul for a while now. I hate that Jamaica no longer has a culture, for those overseas ur country that u love so much has lost to America. All those things that u grew up on is fading away. What ruined Jamaica is the diehearted folks who are determined to vote in their favourite colour regardless if they are doing any work or not. I'm tired of the Jamaican acidic mentality.
Welcome, young bird. First you need to find your purpose. What do I want to do, and how will it impact the world. I would suggest you become a nobad first and travel a few countries to see how they resonate within your heart and soul. I will not tell anyone to just go for go sake, but visit with an intention of what is it you want to do. Start by watching these two and listen with your heart. czcams.com/video/8niggV0_c4c/video.html

British Born of Jamaican parents, lived in USA for 40 years. For me the American dream has become the American nightmare so I am not in a position to retire as I would like to, but given the chance it would be Africa, either Ghana or Gambia for me. Jamaica is a no-no, love it, but the crime stats are not all a work of fiction. I know too many people who went back, built their 10 bedroom mansions, and are so grilled up, and security up, living almost like prisoners in their own beautiful homes. Africa has problems, but your money will stretch further, and overall your prospects will be better. Best wishes to you for the future.
True Anthony, but access your budget, if you can biy or build a house and have a rental one or a farm you can bounce back find your passion but do "check" out ina Babylon.
Those monstrosities built by some silly returning residents is so bhutto.
Go to Tanzania (zanzibar)
Jamaica is not the worst with crimes, many Islands hide their crimes, but Jamaicans and the media put in online or on the front page. I guess you not watching your local news in America. Not everyone sleeps with their eyes open.
I'm from Haiti been living in Canada for 21 years. Listening to you talk about Jamaica reminds me of Haiti on every single aspect. Haiti is just deeper down the drain and I don't see any way out of it. Rwanda is the first country I would like to visit the day I set foot in the motherland. Thanks for sharing your thoughts with us and enjoy your retirement brother
Much appreciated my friend 😊
You can't really compare Haiti to Jamaica
@rebecca3282 Where did I compare them? I said I can relate to everything he's saying but Haiti is in a worse situation...
@rpgvag , Well strange enough, do you know Haiti has a lower murder rate than Jamaica. Google it
@givingbacktoafrica6322 I heard that but I don't think it's accurate. Haiti does not really keep track of murders and other crimes that's being committed. We don't even have a functional government. All those guys care about is lining their pockets. I was born and raised in Port-au-Prince and if you go around and ask people in this city everybody personally know several people who's been murdered. All that to say I wouldn't trust any stats from any haitian organizations. One thing I can tell you most of the killing happens in Port-au-Prince the rest of the country is pretty safe
Very good points ,there are about 2 million Jamaicans living outside of jamaica not including the mixed race of Jamaican heritage. There are many with skills and finance would love return to invest but the violence have scared many.
Come on down Africa needs you
True words. I have always noticed returning residents and the diaspora who have skills and resources to help always get pushed out. It is sad that the country could be better but people in and out of the country don’t want that
Wow! What a beautiful place. Please keep sharing. Jamaica surely can take a page out of their book. Safety is paramount, So sad that our beautiful Jamaica is not safe to live anymore.
Thank you, I will
Thanks my brother, I had to sell my retirement home out there and hurry back to Canada where I now call my forever home. The impact of my experience there for 10 years, was enough for me, had to run and thank God that I did. All the best of luck and a peaceful life to you and your family.
My brother, try the motherland

That’s nice. I’m in Ghana 🇬🇭 instead of Jamaica 🇯🇲 because My money goes further, and it’s safer…but I’ll go back and forth at some point. That lil Island is so special, and when I become rich, I’ll be in Jamaica half of the year.

One love, Africa was born in me, while I was born in Jamaica. I do agree with you about the negatives you mentioned on Jamaica. It is really terrible here. Poor governance is the hinderance of our growth and prosperity. I am hoping for the United Independent Congress (UIC) to transform Jamaica. It's really stressful living here. We are so hostile against each other but embrace the European/visitors. I really love my people wherever they are. I am hoping to be in Africa sometime soon. Continue to speak the truth.
What are you doing as an individual to change things if you say it's so bad there. Change starts with individuals. Rwanda changed because individuals made a change. Do your part to make a change in Jamaica.
Word brother!! Had to be said. I came to the same decision years ago and now live across the border from you, Uganda, after over thirty years in the United Kingdom. Trust me, we are not the first and wont be the last Jamaicans who has made this choice to retire in Africa. Jamaica needs some serious changes. Much blessings and guidance to your wife and yourself "Mi G" Up!!
Everytime family, enjoy Uganda.. food dea dea galore.... 😊
The way he talks like Africa 🌍 is perfect. Nothing is wrong with Jamaica 🇯🇲 like every country it has it's problems
He never said Africa is perfect. He found a country in Africa that he likes. He is giving the positives of Rwanda. When you google the country it’s one of the safest countries in the world. I love my Jamaica but we have major issues. We can’t even trust our own family members. And you have to grease every one’s palm to get them to do there work. I have experienced it myself. I also give back to my country even though I don’t reside there. Jamaican’s need to repent and turn to God. I pray we can get rid of all the corrupt politicians who are selling out our legacy to line there pockets.🇯🇲💜
All the churches in Jamaica need to join hands and pray out the mark of the beast pnp and jlp pray them off the earth
I concur and always wondered why Jamaicans tend to disparage their Homeland. He needs to tell people Ruwanda is one of the poorest countries in Africa.
He is making money from his channel
When stuff happens in Rwanda it is hard to run from there. It is too far away
@@warrior-xd2xn that is how some Jamaicans are, just trying to make money by bashing Jamaica, you have some in Jamaica that are doing the same thing, if mosquito bite you in Jamaica, they have to post it on youtube, presently the crime rate in Trinidad is higher than Jamaica, but do you see the Trinidadian basking their country, no, the will always say " Trini to the bone" but some of our Jamaican people, and if you noticed most of those that are posting live outside of Jamaica for years, so I don't know what is their problem, like Jamaica is calling them.

I too lament Jamaica’s demise. All too often we read about returning residents who fall victims to murderous predators. What will it take to alter the evil? A revolving door of politicians was not the answer. We pray and hope that we can all join hearts and minds and hands both at home and in the diaspora to make the seemingly impossible, possible.

Excellent video. Educated, clear and concise.
Jamaica is beautiful and is the country of my grandparents ( I’m U.K. born) but there are so many countries which offer more than jamaica does in terms of quality of life. I refuse to live in a country where safety is a major issue.
When you mentioned about conflict being a big issue I have experienced this on a big scale in Jamaica and to be honest even with Jamaicans here in the U.K..
For those who want peace and just ease of life, I would avoid retiring in Jamaica
Honest talk 😊
I love your perspective which is not just a Jamaican phenomenon; I’m from another Caribbean island and some of the same issues of underhanded business dealings and lack of proper infrastructure persist. I’m thinking it’s a feature of the system and not a flaw. I’ve seen that individuals of different complexions than the locals have less friction and resistance to conducting business and gaining success. Like you, I would love to contribute to my home’s advancement now that I’m older, wiser, and economically better. Thanks for the video.

Richard, I am a Jamaican and what I see going on in the various parishes, is beyond me. First of all, home is where you feel safe and right now, I would not make the mistake on returning. My wife and I left Jamaica almost fifty years and my kids were born in the USA, but I was not comfortable living in a country that do not respect other human due to the color of their skin, therefore, I gather my family together and 1982, I moved to Canada. Yes, I am a citizen of Canada and within the next three years, my wife and I will be moving to Africa. My wife loves Rwanda and also in love with the President, so much so, that I feel jealous. lol! Anyway, between Rwanda, Ghana and The Ivory Coast is our choice. The truth is, we are leaning towards Rwanda. What is going on in Jamaica is mere madness and going back is like saying to these rejects, "SEE ME HERE, TAKE MY LIFE AND ALL THAT I WORKED SO HARD FOR"! My kids are now married and are settled in Canada but that won't deter me. RAPARTRIATION IS A MUST!!!
Everytime, but take time out and connect with God and have him guide you to your destination in Africa. He did that for me, and he'll do it for you.
You are at your golden years, live, love, and give Africa your wisdom and money. ❤😊
Would you have choosen to live in Rwanda 20 years ago when they had the genocide? If no why not. Some people want to settle in other people's country but would dismissed them when times were tough. It like a woman rejects a man with nothing but wants him the minute he accomplished something.
Wherever you go and if war breaks out please stay and fight. Don't just move to enjoy the goodness of the country.
Jamaica is a developing country it's only 60 years old. Things have progress alot .crime is relevant to people's association.
Big up your no roasted breadfruit
I'm from the Caribbean living in the USA for over 50 years. I'm a few years older than you. We are also planning on retiring in Africa. I agree with some of what you said, but not all African countries are like Rwanda. One has to do some research and choose the one country that makes them feel at home. Africa is "home" for all Black diasporas, I feel very comfortable when I'm there.
Amen! Find your sweet spot and enjoy life in it. There are 54 countries in Africa, find your peace, Yvonne, and thrive in it.
East Africa is going to be the place to be, especially when their mega infrastructures are complete. Actually it already is the place to be.

Much appreciated
Amen bro, peace, serenity and giving back. That's what it's all about.
That's how the blessings comes Mossi. Everything we need the earth gives us. That's what Christ says, giving is better than receiving."
Really love this, very happy to see a more mature reasoning about this a Born Jamaican i fully see and know what you are saying, and how you took us on your life long journey.
Maxine, I appreciate you, many more things to come stay tuned
Just buy land in Capecoast Ghana, Africa is the future. Jamaica is home but can't retire there. I want to live out my old age in peace. Gem
Talk the tings dem Orlene. We can do more being alive than dead. I'm not retiring in an ice box looking out the window in winter like "rat bat."
Congratulations Richard! 🎊 Happy for you both. I'll definitely make the trip in the future.
Yes mi dear. You're attitude is sooo infectious, you can succeed in Africa.
My brother thank you so much for nailing it on point. I agree with you on every point it couldn't have been any better. I live here in Canada and I am now72 yes. Since I was 20 yes I have been preaching Ethiopia that's my destination. I spend six weeks in Ethiopia and those are the best six weeks of my life. The people are so warm and welcoming. The Atmosphere is just refreshing. Most of all the deep spirituality in history draws me closer. Thank you my brother . I love Jamaica too but the government is rule by the devil.
Amen, find your peace in the motherland
I love Jamaica the food reggae everything. I born in UK of Jamaican parents ( they were of the Windrush generation RIEP mum dad ❤) I lived in Jamaica part schooled as a child, went back to Jamaica as , took my son and Grandson there many times. Back in 2017, I was offered a journey to Africa Gambia and never looked back, leaving late 2023 for the final leg, our creator willing. I am growing plantain on my land in Gambia and there is a rasta who grows ackee. I have learned so much about us as a people. In truth Gambia for me isn't as beautiful to me as Jamaica, but its on the continent and offers me a 6 hour dirrct flight UK to Gambia and currently great exchange rate, not to mention great weather, no different time distance! As opposed to Jamaica 5 / 6 hours behind and 9 hours flight. I get my mangoes and all food and fruits also the Gambians love Jamaicans and of course reggae music! You can feel loved and young in Gambia. It has its challenges but doesn't everywhere. I was there for 5 months Nov to April just gone, I loved it felt well until I returned to UK and now its just about leaving for the full journey, then onwards to visit the other 53 nations that is called Africa 🌍 😊
Awesome Lola, live your life girl. You're best years are ahead of you. People don't know the stress they're under until they leave the rat race and to assimilation society. I just want to be me girl, and you just be you and thrive.
Greetings to you Lola-bell Jones. Charmaine here, I read your comment and would love to chat. At present I am in the US. During COVID I purchase 2 lots in Gambia. The magic word was Ackee LOL. I am not sure how to get in touch with you but would love to speak with a kindred spirit. Blessing to you I hope we can communicate. 🙂
@@charmaineroots2280 Are you in the Gambia now, and do you have a link?
Sometime ago a couple living in Rwanda made a video advising people who want to relocate to Rwanda, to come and stay for some months before committing to a long-term or permanent stay. The reason given was the Rwandan weather, it drizzles a lot. The couple made the video to explain some of the reasons some people were leaving Rwanda after living there for several months or a few years. The advice is: please study the Rwanda weather for several months and then make the decision for or against living there.
Very true, when the rain season comes, move down to Tanzania, West or South Africa... but don't allow rain to stop your move. It's better than snow
I love this video brother and it’s funny lately I’ve been telling ppl I want to visit Rwanda I’ve seen some videos of the country it looks very beautiful
Please do 😊
I just subscribed. I am a Ghanaian living in Canada. Love your thoughtful analysis of retirement after work . God bless
Thanks Kofi, we both Canadian... but I'm tired of the fake smiles now and the cold.
ARE YOU OWUSU SEKYERE
I am living in Jamaica all my life and my objective for the last five years is to get to Africa, I intend to visit a few countries first before deciding where to settle I've gain the funds to start a business there and live I've had it with here so many reasons why I decide not to invest in Jamaica and head to the mother continent, the system is designed for those who have it already to flourish and the small man must have a hard time to make it due to the business policies.
Talk the tings dem, careful and watch out fi SSL... me hear dem a tiefing company. 😅
Good day.
I came across your vlog, and I must say, I can relate. We pretty much have the same values and dreams of life and retirement. I, too, grow up in Jamaica in the 80's and 90's. I would love to know more about your decision to retire in the mother land.
Thanks Donovan
First it was a 21 days, and when I visited and saw Jamaica in the 1970's version... I was sold 😂
Thanks for the great and awesome memories! I missed those days!
Oh yes, we can have it elsewhere 😊
I'm so happy for you Big Brother. You've made a great decision.
I am Jamaican born been living in the US for 44 years so basically all my life. Do not will not retire in the US. Was looking at Ghana because I have met good people there however Ghana is very indicative of Jamaica with its corruption everything is about money you have to pay everybody and anybody off to get anything done and it's not as developed and advanced and progressive as other African countries so I'm giving Ghana the side eye Yes the climate the food is just like Jamaica but I would rather miss out on some ackee and pimento and take a piece of mind and security instead
Come along man, you won't miss a beat 😊
Very interesting perspective, as Rwanda is also my first choice of places to live outside of Jamaica. I also observed that you wilfully neglect to disclose the other half of the Rwanda 🇷🇼 story. You didn't touch land rights of foreigners, human rights violations, corruption of government officials, remnants of repressive government still exist, and so on and so forth. So you see, there's much more than meets the eyes
Very true Dogg, "but let he who is without sin cast the first stone."
I am Jamaican living in Europe
Since 1978.
I went home build a 8 bed room guest house.
It was Hell, I lost everything.
I went back to Germany and after 15 years was lucky to restart.
Jamaica now even for a vacation
WOW! These stories are so many... I give up on investing there.. 😊
I am so happy to find your site even though by accident, love ve it😊
Thank you Joan
Your decision is a blessing, Beloved. The more Jamaica and Africa, and Africans unite, the quicker we will be able to free the poor on both sides of the continent through cooperation. May The Lord Bless your works, and your family. Thank you for sharing with us.
Many thanks, and prayer is never enough for me. Keep sending them up so the duppy dem can stay away from me 😅😊
Richard you are my hero. I admire your wisdom and knowledge .
I appreciate that, but I'm not king. You are a hero yourself
Great video and commentary.
Thank you very much.
Glad you enjoyed it!😅
Bossman, a pure facts you spitting! I’m in total agreement with everything you’re saying. I myself have to pay a visit to the motherland. Thanks for sharing sah!
💯 welcome king
I left Jamaica at 23 and lived in USA for 33 years and now bought land in The Gambia; mi fraid fi go back a mi community in Westmoreland 😮
Buoy me caan blame you, Sav gone.... too many ppl a get slap weh
Don’t you think it can and will happen in Gambia?
Wishing you all the best in your endeavours. I was born and raised in the Uk, and my country of origin is Nigeria. I would love one day to retire there but that is definitely not going to happen with all the instability that is going on.
Do not feel guilty or listen to the naysayers, do what makes you feel happy. If they have the choice am sure they will do what is right for them and if they choose to live their short lives in patriotic sentiments good luck to them.
I love my country and I am patriotic but not foolish. Hence I applaud your decision.
You don’t have to go Nigeria. Check out what is happening in Benin republic where you will have same quality of life as Rwanda while next to the greatest wealth in Africa. I will be going there soon because opportunity being close to Nigeria.
@@yadam5004 I will be visiting as many African countries as soon as possible. I have never thought of Benin Republic but would look into it. Many thanks
Amen Ajoke, you have to follow your purpose.
