    I agree 100% about the bad directions. I just put a set on my 05 Dodge 3500 srw. The bags did good on the first trip, I paid extra for the stainless hardware set up. Just put the onboard compressor and controller on. The manifold errored out on the software update. Waiting on a replacement for it. It's a single path, so I may change that out for a dual path so it doesn't push air back and forth between the bags. Time will tell. Glad it wasn't just me struggling with an Airlift kit. I can relate to measuring with your heart, though. Love it! 😂

    Air bags setup this way are nice but if you want an all purpose helper I suggest running SUMO bump stops front and back. They are progressive rate and will soak up hard hits like an air bump. They’re stupid easy to install and have a great warranty.
    I have used them on my old 2013 power wagon and killed the truck at 106,000 miles and replaced the bumps twice. The truck literally went to the scrapyard I beat it so badly.

    I think that's the same kit I used on my 06. I absolutely hate the lower bracket that goes around the block with the u bolt. They don't sit as square as I think they should. BUT THEY WORK! Really well actually. Lol

    Surprised the bags don’t mount outboard. That would work way better for stability and ride plus interfere with less including the traction bars. I have had Firestone outboard bags on my first gen for years and they are great.

  • @skstibi
    @skstibi Před 3 měsíci

    Yeah... I have their bags on my truck too. Not great to install and definitely not well thought out for guys that actually go off road. All the brackets and hardware that sticks down past the axle tube is bent over and will have to be cut off. I have tire slime in one of the bags that leaks from around the fitting, and after a couple years the hardware on the valve stems was all rusted and stripped when I had to remove them to change my bumper. They DO work though.

    Test the nitrous! Will it reduce EGT towing up a grade? Will it improve fuel economy? That's the only reason we put nitrous on our trucks, to improve fuel economy. ;)

    Am I the only one that thinks manufacturers should have airbags equipped from factory on every truck larger then a 1500 😅 it really shouldn’t be an option it should be a requirement that they have to put them on the trucks. If we had a manufacturer that would do this they would 100% get everyone’s business! Kinda wish ram would do it and bring back the 6 speed manual 😅 they really screwed up but I understand this new generation doesn’t know how to use a clutch and are all about removing the stick 😂

    • @malnfc8565
      @malnfc8565 Před 3 měsíci +1

      Now that *legal* towing capacity on trucks has come up enough to actually warrant having airbags, they are pretty easy to get on a lot of newer trucks. I’m not super up to date but I know ford was offering helper bags, ram was offering helper bags (I think) and ram had full air suspension options available for some of the 4th gens as well.

    • @triplehfarmsllc7348
      @triplehfarmsllc7348 Před 3 měsíci

      @@malnfc8565 yea it’s options you can add but what I’m staying is it shouldn’t be optional it should come on them even with a basic setup.

    • @malnfc8565
      @malnfc8565 Před 3 měsíci

      @@triplehfarmsllc7348 why? Majority of people who buy those trucks don’t ever tow anywhere near enough to need them. The few who do have the option. If they were on every truck ram would just raise the msrp enough to cover it and bam you have a ton of people rolling around with more expensive trucks because of airbags they don’t ever look at, use, maintain or care about. Just bc it might be nice for a few of us out there doesn’t mean it makes sense for the general public. Not to mention on any kind of off-road rig the bags would become a liability that would need to be removed or disconnected from one side. Same thing for lift kits. They would either get more expensive to add hardware for bag mounts (depending how they are mounted) or people would just take the bags off and throw them away.

    • @triplehfarmsllc7348
      @triplehfarmsllc7348 Před 3 měsíci

      @@malnfc8565 normal people buy 3/4 ton trucks to do 3/4 ton truck things 😆 not everyone has daddy or onlyfans buy them a truck they will never use as it’s purpose! I work everyone of my truck other then my 3rd gen because it’s 1700whp toy. But adding it as a factory option wouldn’t change the price that much. And off-roading with air bags is not dangerous at all. Know acouple ppl that run them on off road rigs. But to each their own. We are talking about 3/4 ton trucks not Toyotas and jeeps. If you want an off road rig that’s what you should be buying not a 9k lbs top heavy truck. And a lifted truck is useless as the person driving it in my opinion don’t buy something that’s ment to be worked and not use it as such.

    • @malnfc8565
      @malnfc8565 Před 3 měsíci

      @@triplehfarmsllc7348 then you would be one of the few who actually use their 3/4 ton. I can’t tell you how many I see in office car parks and sitting in the driveway in suburban neighborhoods where they were used 1 time to tow a camper to a permanent camp spot or to put the kids bicycles in the bed. Just because you actually use your truck, doesn’t mean the majority of people actually do. Hell that includes me. I’ve hooked up a gooseneck, towed a horse trailer or boat only a handful of times. Any other time my Cummins might have some firewood in the bed but thats about it.
