- Hi everyone! Today's video features some tips on how to renew excitement in the makeup you own. A subscriber requested this video a few months ago and I finally feel like I have enough tips to share.

When I got overwhelmed with all my makeup, I went through each palette and depotted only the shadows I really loved. Now I have a few magnetic palettes full of shadows that I use all the time. And when I travel I can take each shadow that I really want to take, instead of lots of palettes where I only use a few of each. I also took the extra light shimmery shadows in all my palettes, crushed them up, mixed them together and repressed into a big pan and made some bomb highlighters
Oooh I didn't even think about mixing some powders together to create new shades, great idea! :)

When you were talking about different use for profucts I was literally putting gel serum for nails on my hair xD I got sick of it and just wanted to use it up!

When I watch tutorials or reviews, i go through my makeup and see if i have something similar. Especially if I like the look their doing, I try to find my closest color match. I also try to remember that my face isn't shaped like some of the girls doing tutorials, so it may not be the color that looks wrong on me, maybe it is a technique that doesn't match my face. I also try to use a different palette every week, different bronzer, blush etc. I also clean up my make up to make it look nice. I have very few items that I've hit pan on at the moment so if the package is clean, it looks new. I also think if you store it neatly and organized, you can see items better and it makes it easier to see and use things
Loved this video. I rotate my eyeshadow palettes and my blushes so I'm not using the same thing every day. I also have a board on my Pinterest for the eyeshadows and swatches that are in my collection. That way when I'm looking at eyeshadow palettes I can see if I already have similar colors in my collection.
Oooh I like the idea of using the Pinterest board as a database to check for similar shades when shopping. Great idea! :)

Im really bad a rotating items. I use usually a few lipsticks until theyre gone. Meanwhile 50 lipsticks are sitting in a makeup drawer. Need to work on rotating making so i dont get sick of them so fast. I watch youtube for makeup ideas since i love colorful eyeshadow looks.
I get like that, too sometimes, especially with lip products!

Thank you for the airless pump suggestion! I bought one on Amazon on your recommendation and I just started using it. I'm loving it! I mixed 2 half foundations into the new bottle and I'm actually enjoying using the foundation!😁
I recycle my pump bottles from other finished products, wash en sterilize them. But I didn't know there are available at Amazon. Thank you Angela and Tash!!! They are very convenient and useful! 💜

Very sensible tips and tricks!! 💛💚💜 If it helps any other collectors out there (whether your collection is big or small), then I can say I'm having a great experience so far using the free app Snupps, which has been around for a while. I swatched and organised my cosmetics recently, and then uploaded everything into digital 'shelves' on the app (where it always looks good). It's basically like online shopping at Sephora, but instead - as beauty youtubers often say - you "shop your stash" and can search and compare what you already own very quickly.
I now see colours/products first instead of brands/palettes, and I don't have to go hunting through drawers to find things that can be buried at the bottom and sometimes forgotten. I also use the app to leave myself notes about product performance, I use it to see what I already have to compare it to new releases, and I have images saved for inspiration/looks I want to recreate. I'd love to know how everyone else organizes their make up!! 😊 I honestly can't memorize every single item I own, so Snupps has fixed that for me. xxo

My best tip right now is that I have a ton of single eyeshadows, I was trying to sort of narrow them down and it was overwhelming. I started curating a small palette of favorites as a gift for my sister (who has the same skintone as I do) and I have learned SO MUCH. It's made me be creative in ways I never expected!

These are great! I like to watch tutorials and swatch videos of old products I have, like the urban decay naked palettes. It gets me excited to use them again. They used to be my holy grails, but they've been forgotten because of new things I've added in.
Doing the unthinkable and unsubscribing from trendmood helps bc you don’t see all the new releases. You’ll eventually see them when they come out but you won’t constantly be seeing things you can’t have

Love your ideas! I especially agree about the tip on organization; putting my makeup into my Alex 9-drawer units made such a difference for me. I've hardly bought any makeup in 2018 because I can actually see everything I own now! :)

I started watching this video and it took me 3 months to get several looks together that I can wear with products I already owned. So in July 2018 I listed 50 products to work on (including skincare and perfume). It's now Oct 30th and happy to say 16/50 are completely done and 4 products I'm almost done with- maybe in the next week.
This is a huge deal for me. I'm working on the rest of the products until the end of the year.

I don't put my makeup on until I get to the office. So, instead of a weekly makeup basket, I have a weekly makeup bag. I change stuff up to keep it interesting.
I was like that for a bit at my previous job. The commute was shorter if I left really early. So I'd do my makeup in the parking garage before I went in.
I'm the 1st one in the office, so I go in bare faced with my head all covered in dry shampoo. I'm a mess!
I do the same thing! I put it in before leaving and then wait until I arrive to brush my hair (if I even remember to) haha

I love all your ideas!! I also rotate my eyeshadow palettes every week. This way I am able to come up with different looks with each one of them, it has increased my creativity and I found the dupes for the latest tutorials witt the new releases :)

An odd alternative I use is lip balm for my cuticles. I've found a lip product that works so well that I don't want to use anything else I have, so I keep my not so loved lip balms by my laptop and when I think about it, smear some on my cuticles and soften them up! Kopari lip love is what I would use over anything else, but I use it as a treat because it's $12 for a tube!
Great idea! And I'm ready to try the Kopari lip love but it's always sold out on Ulta's website! It will be mine eventually though!
Great tips! It is amazing to see how different things work for different people. In my personal case, I depotted many products I loved because I wanted to have them in the same place so I could use them more frequently. I regretted it almost immediately. I never reach for them now. Actually, I feel mad when I look at the Z palette, because I just don't want to use it. I am even thinking buying some of the products again. I don't know if I am the only one, but lesson learned. Depotting does not work for me because I need to have the product in it's original packaging to keep the excitement towards that product.
Anye Ross interesting but good for you to know going forward! I found that I needed to depot and use a zpalette for my smaller palettes (things like trios) because they didn’t always have the shades I wanted but I may want to use one or two in the trio. Now, I don’t need to reach into three different trips for 4 shades. They are all in one zpalette. I leave some palettes together if they are complete enough for me to get a look out of though!
I had a similar experience with depotting some products to put in one palette. Some CZcamsrs I watch had a similar palette and almost all of them lost interest quickly.

Great tips! I ended up using the Urban Decay shadow single in Sellout as a highlighter after I hit pan to use it up. It was older and in the old style packaging. I ended up loving it as a highlighter so much that I recently bought a new on during the Ulta 21 days of beauty to use as a highlighter!
Great video,I try to cut my expenses cz sometimes I realize I spent more money monthly in make up than in paying a credit I have 🙈. I try to rotate the things and finish the ones that they are going to pump,but it’s true it’s easier for liquid like concealers,foundation,not for powder ones

I keep very minimal makeup as I go bare faced most days. I have never owned a "pallette". I enjoy watching youtubers review them, but feel no need to buy them myself as I am very aware I would never use it.
My makeup consists of a powder foundation, blush, a couple single eye shadows, an eyeliner, mascara, a lip liner and 2 lipsticks. I do have about 6 lip glosses as I wear those daily....
I'm starting to get the same way with palettes. But of course, I go overboard buying everything else! haha
These were great tips tash! I agree that switching up the packaging and location can be super helpful! For me, depotting items into my magnetic Tarte palette really helps. Since I depotted my Becca opal highlight and my butter bronzer I’ve hit pan on both just because they are so easy to reach for

I had to take an unwanted break from makeup this week as one of my eyes got infected (literally the day after I washed my brushes!!!) Since the swelling is down, I can probably start wearing make up tomorrow. You were spot on in this video in that make up in that breaks can make you even more excited for your collection

Hey Samantha! So you create a Pinterest account and then in the search box, type in the names of products that you already own, like an eyeshadow palette you own but never use. A bunch of pretty photos and swatches should pop up, and you can choose the photos that inspire you and 'pin' them to a specific board that you create. Then when you need some inspiration, you can click on that board and all your pins will show up together for you to look at. Like a collage of makeup photos, using products you already own. I hope that helped! :)

Weird stuff for me is that if I stop wearing makeup for a while, I get lazy and just stop in general. Sometimes my skin gets patchy and flakes at some area I just can’t make it look nice with makeup. I prefer my face look very very natural and not caky at all so if I can’t work with foundation I just stop using it. But then I get annoyed because my face look so uneven without foundation.
That's a good point. It's nice to sleep in on those days, too haha
I take at least 500 mg of fish oil each day, and it has made my skin less flaky. I hear flaxseed oil is great for that as well.

It's less pigmented than I anticipated, and more powdery. Still pretty though and definitely worth the $1.99 I paid for it!
