And I do think there’s at least a chance Jackman might do it onstage, considering how often he does theater and how much he loves it - and he was pretty instrumental in getting the movie made.
Not only was there several hits off of the soundtrack, but they had another album with the same sounds by different artists and those were hits. A backlash was inevitable.
RE: Hercules. I'm SO STOKED. I do think they will iron out and expand the production, especially now that it's for certain & they have the full backing, but I hope it stays focused on the performances rather than the effects (cough frozen cough). Also, if they don't get Bradley they'd be absolute FOOLS. He's extraordinary and was a joy to see in Jersey. I'm still holding hope for Hunchback.
I attended the D23 EXPO. (D23 is the name of the Disney run “fan group”. The Expo is the event itself.) Besides the big presentations and announcements , they had an exhibit on the show floor for Disney on Broadway featuring costumes and short presentations that you could just walk up to to learn about show. Michael James Scott (Genie) hosted a mini-magic show, they show how the reindeer costume in Frozen works and I got to hold a “Circle of Life” Simba.
I’m surprised we still don’t have an update on the Coco musical that Disney announced in January of last year. And it’s interesting that we now have a Greatest Showman musical, also being done by Disney theatricals, considering that both films came out the same year and competed for Best Song at the Oscars. It will definitely be interesting to see which comes out first and also which does better.
Beyond excited for The Greatest Showman being developed for the stage, hopefully it comes to Broadway first before the UK. I’m excited to finally see Frozen on stage on Disney Plus, especially since it’s the West End cast. Also; i imagine they saw the numbers that Hamilton did during the pandemic and said “ok we have all of these pro shots running around, which one should we try first?” And chose Frozen. I’m not the biggest fan of the Frozen franchise but the music is just incredible and the Broadway OBC soundtrack was on repeat during the pandemic. You Brits are lucky to be getting Hercules next summer because I thought that the U.S was going to get it first, it would replace Aladdin or at least get the theater that Frozen on Broadway was at.
I would love to see Jeremy Jordan play the lead role. As many of you know his story with almost being in the film. This would be a great end to that story. Also, If he not only played the role but won his first Tony for it. That WOULD be perfect.. :) But most likely it will be Aaron Tveit again. :/

D23 USED TO BE the ultimate Disney fan event…. In 2022 and this year, 2024, D23 is honestly the ultimate Disney Media event! The fans have really been pushed aside as an afterthought so that Disney can get out their information in front of as much news and print media as possible… and oh yeah, fans can come to if there is room. As a long-time D23 event and expo attendee, it has so sadly degenerated from what it was originally intended to do. Even though I am still a Southern California D23 member, I couldn’t bring myself to go through the farce of the Anaheim event this year.

Funny enough we've known about Greatest Showman since early this year where it was teased at Festival of The Arts at EPCOT during the Broadway concert series. I (& others) are already championing the idea of Jeremy Jordan starring since he basically saved the film (& wasn't casted in it) much in a similar way as getting axed from Finding Neverland pre Broadway. Frozen proshoot exciting but aparently Disney passed on the one of Between The Lines (I had THOUGHT they bought it) so justice for that fun show SOMEONE grabs it or they just start selling it digitally. Herc is very much going to shoot for Broadway after West End so I am very excited to see the next steps of the show's journey.

I think my problem with TGS is that none of it is factual. They basically took events in Barnum's life, scattered then around in history and told their own story/outcomes. It's nowhere's near historically accurate. I am also from Bridgeport, Connecticut and worked at the museum in High School. So this version really bothered me in that way. Hopefully they will makes some changes so that it is more in line with the real history of Barnum, and not some made up character as portrayed in the movie.

One of the few criticism I’ve always had with the movie (if this makes any sense) was that it never really felt like a story that was written for the screen. It almost feels like they’d initially planned for it to be a staged musical but possibly had trouble pitching it and decided to adapt it to a movie musical instead. I’m not entirely sure what gives it this feel, but my friend and I have theorised it’s because the musical numbers are so well done and choreographed but the other parts over the movie almost feel like they were cut down for time.

I think the trades' union contracts are more flexible in the UK. There might be more restrictions like what trade is allowed to work on certain projects. 3. Including films, Disney has received 1/4 to 1/3 billion in tax incentives over the last year.

Philly 's convention center was in trouble financially. 1. Before, if a light bulb needed replacing, only an electrician could do it. 2. And like, for a new setup, at least one union worker from each trade had to be there and be paid for at least four hours. 3. The newer contract allows flexibility. If one trades work is minimal, another trade could do it, within reason.

i'm cautiously hopeful for possible changes in the greatest showman! the history student in me was screaming when watching the movie, didn't like it at all (which sucks cause the songs are pretty good) i think barnum does a better job with the story so maybe maybe there will be some changes made for stage jdjdkd but really excited for hercules and frozen! yay for them

I wonder how (if) they will reexamine some of the disability rep within the show. I think it needs serious consideration in order to shift the dial from where it was in the OG movie which was clearly trying to be progressive but didn't quite pull it off
Disney did not have the right to the Greatest Showman until 2019 when they bought Fox and 20th Century Fox. So Disney Theatrical company couldn't do anything til then.

Greatest Showman concerns me from a standpoint of disability representation and romanticizing PT Barnum. I loved some of the music, but hated the movie as a whole (and nearly threw something at my TV at one scene.)
I'm personally not excited about the Greatest Showman as a broadway show because Pasek and Paul's songs are so boring and soulless (and the movie itself was ehhhhhhhh)
Fuming about the Frozen news it should have been with the Broadway Cast. I guess filming the West End shows is cheaper in whole. Could have filmed with the original standby's from the Broadway cast Alyssa Fox as Elsa and Aisha Jackson as Anna. Mad they didn't film the current USA Tour Cast of Frozen. Likely won't watch Frozen on Disney+. It started on Broadway should have been filmed in the USA not the West End.

I'm so hyped for frozen pro shot. I've always wanted to see it but didn't want to risk loads of kids singing.
We won tickets to a touring production and had to leave. We only went because it was free, but if I had paid, I'd have been quite upset.

That's what I thought, a puzzling choice. I'd anticipate it changing though, as Hercules' title has, from the Heroic musical, to electrifying!

Nothing hurts union workers on Broadway more than shows closing due to low ticket sales.

Frozen takes place in Norway anyway so I'm not sure why US vs UK really matters
