I think this list is missing Svartpilen 401. That's the bike I ride, so I'm not very objective but it's a great bike. It's not even my first bike, but I still went for it. It's appropriately powerful, nimble, agile, practical, extremely charismatic and affordable. If you're an urban rider like me, it is a much more reasonable option than many bikes on the list.

Terrible suspension, small fuel tank, and marginal brakes… but it was a thumper and there’s just something about the feeling of being on one that hits the spot. I recently finished my MSF course and have been riding for about a month now, picked up a rebel 500 and honestly can't be happier personally. Very approachable and very capable for my daily commute and typical riding environment. I don't take interstate for 99% of my commutes as I'm 6 minutes from my job, and all of my recreational endeavors are typically withing half an hour or so. As far as interstate riding goes, I've heard it's perfectly fine on this motorcycle for reasonable distances. So excited to be riding and I can't wait for the journey to come!

I have 32 inch inseam and that bike was very vertically challenging to begin with. But a year or so on that thing, much of it in off road situations but a fair amount of street really helped me build confidence! After that time I found myself more and more on the street so traded up for more power and other things But I have NO REGRETS! If I was starting again I think the 300L or Rally version are an awesome way to start out! I think this is a really good call dude! I am legitimately surprised neither of the bikes I own made the list, as you’ve been effusive about them in the past. I started on a Duke 390 2 years ago and then added a CRF300L (non-rally) to the stable last year. I am curious why the KLX and the Rally beat out the CRF, and why the RC, Ninja 400, etc beat out the Duke. Sadly, my 30 inch inseam made it a bit difficult to approach the DRZ, but I’ll also keep my EFI. Great video!

My first bike was the DR650. Fantastic first bike only disadvantage was I'm only 170cm so I couldn't tippy toe it it letbalone flat foot it, it was one foot only for me. Also BTW had Zero carby issues, zero.
Also where is the KTM Duke 390 and Husquvana Spartpilian 401 on this, seriously?
I mean you included both the Z400 and the Ninja 400 both the R3 and the MT03 so there's no excuse to say you already had the RC390 on the list also let's be honest as a beginner bike both the Spartpilian and the 390 Duke make far sense the the RC390 with much more beginner friendly ergonomics/ridding position.

I had a moped through high school , people gave me allota sh!t about it but I used to love cruising around on back roads covering ground going anywhere almost for Pennies. Sold it , couple years later my dad bought a klx250 DualSport I got to ride a couple times on trails in the woods in northern Michigan and I thought it was awesome. About a year later he picked up a KLR 650 and I rode alongside him through some of the ouachita mountains in Arkansas. God damn I fell in love with it , so cool to ride through the trails and rocky hills on that bike. Since then I’ve became a fireman and have seen some bad accidents first hand. Now I’m almost gunshy feeling of motorcycles . I still want one so badly , I’m not sure what to do. Just when I think I’m positive I won’t get one Yammi pulls me back in lol

Aftermarket is the only reason to get the 883. The only reason I ever wish I went that route is because you can do anything you want to them with tons of options and support. But even used they come at a premium over basically all other bikes if you're talking the same year/class.
