    My traffic has had dpf sign coming up for about 2 years, code reads p253f oil degraded, tried regens, bought a code reader to wipe code, sometimes it stayed off for miles sometimes for months, tried dpf cleaners, etc last year I gave it an oil change and the code stopped, few weeks ago code came back so I've just oil changed it again, today, but dint know about resetting service until watching your video. So I just gone and done that too, even though service light wasn't on yet, said it still had 2000miles to go but my oil stinks. Hopefully it's cured now lol

    Great video. It sounds like what I'm experiencing on my 1.7d 2019 xtrail. Purchased the car 3 months ago, and it apparently had a full service. The oil service warning came on last week, yesterday the DPF full warning came on. Drove the car 100 miles yesterday assuming it would regen the DPF (dual carriageway journey at 70mph), however it hasn't and the engine management amber light came one. Am I correct to assume the DPF has cleaned off during the duel carriageway run? If I do an oil change, would this allow me to clear the faults? The car is running fine with no loss of power.

    • @CarAddictGarageNE
      @CarAddictGarageNE  Před 10 měsíci +2

      Yes the 1.6/1.7 are very similar units …. Think you could be having the same issues.
      No driving at 70mph won’t usually clear them sometimes….. regen consists of keeping the revs at around 2500/3000rpm usually in a manual 4th gear around 60/65mph, keep the revs steady no speeding up or slowing down (so choose quiet times) for 7+ miles continuously (use cruise control it helps)
      Made sure car up to temperature and plenty fuel in.

    • @tomsurrey2252
      @tomsurrey2252 Před 8 měsíci +1

      The DPF may not regen BECAUSE the metal tube, running from the upstream turbo sensor is blocked... clean it out then regen otherwise you could damage the DPF!

    • @CarAddictGarageNE
      @CarAddictGarageNE  Před 10 měsíci +2

      You have to be sure of making sure the service light resets correctly, as it’s very unclear when it’s shown as not requiring service (as in service required not showing active)
      Also need to reset oil dilution via special functions
      Thanks

    Hi Dan,
    I’m only getting an oil deterioration error. Had a full service in the summer. Took it to the garage last week, cleared the error code for me but it came back on the next day. He said if it comes back on he’ll try clearing it through the computer and dashboard I think? 🤔 I’ve checked the oil, looks and smells fine. Could you advise on the next steps? Cheers

    • @CarAddictGarageNE
      @CarAddictGarageNE  Před 7 měsíci +1

      Tbh I have known these dilute the oil within a matter of months.
      If you have already tried, I would advise another oil change, reset the service (even though it’s displayed as ok) just do it again, then wipe the codes, should be fine after that

    • @CarAddictGarageNE
      @CarAddictGarageNE  Před 7 měsíci +1

      @jakemccall6332 failed re gens that why, need to make sure you regularly regen the DPF and failed regens dumps diesel into the oil, hence you end off with oil dilution = bust engine

  • @RichieRich845
    @RichieRich845 Před měsícem +1

    Hi Dan, My Hyundai i40 that my wife drives on short trips, always the oil is diluted, would it help if I did a manual regenerate once a week, how often does the do a regenerate automatically?
    Thanks.

    • @CarAddictGarageNE
      @CarAddictGarageNE  Před měsícem +1

      No you don’t want to be doing manual regens that’s often as you will totally dilute the oil.
      Tbh if all the car does is short trips don’t definitely DO NOT want a diesel with a DPF.
      Doing short journeys it will probably never regen correctly, thus blocking the DPF and having loads of failed regens causing oil dilution / permanent engine damage

    Hi mate, I need some help here. I'm a mechanic and I have in my workshop a renault trafic, with that error.
    The van arrived with a clogged dpf, I remove it and cleaned it, I changed the oil and filter, did the service reset (manually in the dashboard) but that error, oil diluition reappears after I erase it. Dumb as I am I changed the oil level sensor, because in the dashboard the oil level appears in the middle (3 dots out of 5) but the oil really is at the max. Changed the oil level sensor and still the same problem. And the error P253F won't disappear. I even reset the dpf values after cleaning it. But the error won't come off
