  • Decided to finally delve deep inside the Honda generator to see if a hunch about diodes was right...

    The blue background on the resistor means metal oxide type. Tan or brown means carbon type resistor. Thanks for all your work - it will help me with my ex650. Gooday from Australia!

    Yup that diode popped. I think what happened is someone tried to flash or excite the rotor with either too much voltage and it backtracked and popped the diode. There are PNP diodes and NPN diodes. Be careful.

      Yeah, but so much awesome if two diodes & two resistors makes it work again, assuming I can put it all back together without breaking anything!!! :P

      I have one and used it during the process of diagnosis, but the recommendation of taking it to a Honda service centre wasn't much help when it came to the rotor diodes... :)
