I said to people " I don't know why people are donating so much to Houston as if there will be no other disasters" I kept saying this over and over again even though I knew I would look like an asshole. Then I start seeing stars give money and then I just gave up. After that, Irma was announced. I was born and raised and am still living in Houston and I said this. I don't want to downplay the flooding in Houston. Although everything seems "normal" the damage was within as is with floods. You won't see things ripped to shreds and such. Since nobody was able to get into the air and take the pics of the flooding at its worse, we will never know how bad it got. HOWEVER!!! CAT 5 with winds up to 180+ THAT is to be taken more seriously!!! Houston did not need to evacuate because it was known where the most likely places of flooding was going to be. There were also no super winds to cause more fatalities. OUR DANGER HAS PASSED. What ever IRMA is going to do, that place needs to be top priority. It was nice seeing the national guard, FEMA, and the average joe come to help Houston. However, it's time to go move on to what may be the bigger tragedy this year.

I've been saying this for the past week and felt so bad. But everyone has dedicated their time and money to Harvey relief efforts and while they can do the same for Irma, Katia, Jose and Lee it's VERY unlikely to happen. When people donate they usually do it once and maybe give $10. It's not like people have a "disaster budget" and give $10 to each disaster or their time to each disaster. The damage will be must worse with Irma and as a Floridian staying here in the state for the storm I'm sacred to see, what I predict to be, a decrease in support from Harvey to Irma. But yes, I sound so inconsiderate when I say to turn attention to Irma's future path of destruction versus Harvey's because it will be magnitudes worse than the destruction in Texas/Louisiana/Gulf Shore.

IMPORTANT ADVICE: Don't be near the coast and make sure you are in a concrete or brick building. You cannot go outside in 300kmh winds as the tinyest flying pebble stone can hit and kill you in such winds. Stay away from glass windows and give your kids ear plugs as the sound can be terrifyingly loud. Put Children inside your bathtub in blankets for maximum protection. Sit inside doorframes in case of building collapse.
