We survived Irma. They shut Saint Petersburg down. We decided to get out right at the last minute. We went inland and it wasn’t much better. We finally could get back into the city the next day at 6 pm when they opened it back up. The sounds she made. The winds. It was crazy. None have really came thru here since. I just bought a home this last September….. praying this hurricane season is easy on us!!!!!!

Some of the damage is still not fixed over a year later down here. This area was annihilated. North in Tampa and Sarasota it had downgraded significantly but that was not forecasted so the alerts were based on expected storm surge that didn't materialize. It could've been much worse but the bottom of Irma got sheered off by upper air currents after it passed Naples and Ft. Myers.
If People in other states could host affected families until their houses rebuit. , IF someone could make that initiative..... for an example During the flood in Sri Lanka,(my country) Sri Lankans who had Airbnb listing gave it for free for affected families.
Florida is the most extreme worst place to live and work in the United States with all it’s adverse Extreme Hurricanes and Tornadoes! Homes, Businesses, Schools, Hospitals, and etc. getting blown to pieces! High and low pressure extreme weather adverse affect state, “Florida”! No wonder Insurance costs are the Highest among all of 50 States!
