- Sometimes it's about the animal, sometimes it's about the shot!
This month is all about Diamonds, with a couple trolls and an Axis deer that tried to get past me unnoticed! - Hry
Awesome highlights! I really loved the Pheasant! Every time I find one that's a diamond he either won't fly for me or he runs until he's in really thick timber so I can't seem to get a mark on him excellent highlights video!😊
Thanks! The pheasant took a bit of work: at first I was trying to bag him in a forrest, but I could never get a clear shot, so I followed his tracks to where he came from and luckily found a need zone in a clearing. It would be much easier if they could be called!
@@jonotakesongames9361 Great job! You did exactly what I normally do with mammals. I don't know why I've never considered doing it with the birds. I usually just lose my mind and go after them right then and there with very little success. Thanks for the thought of clarity!
Happy to help! I've been treating pheasants like I treat rabbits: when rabbits give a warning thump I just walk towards them. For some reason when walking towards them they just amble along instead of taking off, making them pretty easy to pick off, especially with a .22.
Pheasants seem to either take flight immediately, or run for a bit before taking flight, so I haven't worked out a good strat yet.
@@jonotakesongames9361 I think I might have just figured it out. It always seems like the only tracks I can find from the pheasants are leaving the areas. I need to start doing them the same way I do the max weight Bears. Anytime I find a rest zone that's in an area where it is virtually impossible to get a chance at. I will bust into it right at the beginning of the 1st half of the zones time so I know that the tracks leading into the area are still available. Then I will backtrack him to his feeding area. Or Visa-Versa. Depending upon which ever zone gives me the best opportunity for the harvest. Thanks for conspiring with me! Lol!
No problem! Following tracks backwards can be difficult at times, but I've done it on several occasions to find a need zone, so it can definitely be worth doing!
