Thank you so much for these videos. I've been overweight for years and sugar-loading is my family's favorite addiction. I'm now committing to quit (not try to quit, but quit) carbs. I've cleaned out my cabinets and fridge. After only 2 days, I already feel better, am past the difficult first day thing, and am moving forward. I suspect this will help some creakiness with one of my knees and may have an impact on my autoimmune problem. I've watched so many of your videos, Dr. G and they're all really helpful (and not judgmental). You're saving lives. Thank you.

Thanks for all the great advice that you give on all of your utube videos. I follow your site and also Jason Fung. I have lost 80 lbs in 10 months and have gotten off of insulin for my diabetes and do OMAD and a 36 hr fasting once or twice a week. I am also that I grew up with a more high fat protein meals with vegetables which in the 80s was frowned upon. So I followed the "science" and gained a 100 lbs and became diabetic and was prescribed insulin. With your site and Jason Fung's I got control of my diabetes, got off of insulin, and lost 90lbs with a low carb diet and intermittent fasting in 11 months. I am at a weight that I was when I was 19. I know now that the government recommendation is not always correct. Thanks for all the great advice that you give and for your journey of giving up the high sugar and carb lifestyle. You Also look better since you started your journey and your husband must be proud of you. Thanks and keep giving us your great advice.

Congrats on your fantastic weight loss. I know, the ADA (American Diabetes Association) needs an overhaul - one of the first things they tell a newly diagnosed diabetic is to replace sugar with fructose - and fructose is worse than cane sugar or beet sugar, since it mainlines direct to the pancreas. AND it is sold in the “health food” section of the store, so people think “fructose - comes from fruit, must be healthy” !!

Jicama fries are awesome: make sticks and parboil them for a few minutes. Dry them off. Toss them in a bowl with a little olive oil and your favorite seasoning (for me, salt and pepper) and put them on a cookie sheet, in the oven (425F) until they crisp up (30 minutes). Use the broil for a few minutes, if needed..... I also make delicious kale chips with the same method, but at 325F for about 15 or 20 minutes.

Probably 8/10 pork rinds I've found up here in Canada are highly processed foods made in some kind of seed oil with a list of additives and preservatives following. You can get a big plastic bin of them at Costco fairly cheap but made with sunflower oil IIRC. Luckily a couple of the stores I frequent carry the Baken-ets version of pork rinds by Frito-Lay which are just pork skin, lard & salt.

I really wish I had time to spend 4 hours making few cucumber chips, but the fact is, I just don't. I don't live on protein bars. They're more of a go to when I travel or am gone for long hours because the dietitian prefers I do that than skipping meals. She used to recommend Kind, but I have discovered that chicory does not work for me. And Kind has some bars that have less than 5 g of sugar that taste good. Then she recommended Rx bars, which are pretty clean, but they do contain dates so the GI score might be higher, I haven't checked. They're doable

Great suggestions, except for the cuke dehydrating. Three hours is way too long to have the oven on for 1 cuke. The heat generated from the oven, expecially when it is 90 degrees F outdoors - and - the electric bill! Yikes!

I have a question. In the US, doesn't processed foods have to list ALL ingredients? If pork rinds are fried in vegetable oil, wouldn't that have to be stated? There are several brands that list pork skin only. Do you think that they're fried in the rendered fat? (i.e., INGREDIENTS: . . . Vegetable Oil (contains one or more of the following: Corn Oil, Soybean Oil, or Safflower Oil) . . . .” 21CFR101.4(b)(14)
