- Assassins Creed Valhalla is a game for the unemployed. By the end of this video you’ll know exactly why. I’m going to evaluate all aspects of Valhalla’s gameplay including the combat, characters, exploration and story. Most of the video will be spoiler free, except for the story section. At the end I’ll make a recommendation on whether or not you should pick up and play this game.

Ultimately Assassins Creed Valhalla is too long for its own good. It took me nearly 70 hours just to complete the main story. I recommend it for people who have LOTS of free time on their hands who want to dive into a massive open world viking experience.
For those more pressed for time, I recommend playing Ghost of Tsushima (Playstation exclusive) or Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla is a game where you can bang your brother's wife.
But you wouldn't.... right?
Depends on how hot she is
I did, and in the end Sigurd didn't even care XD, so if you are reading this before reaching that point, I say go for it
The sisterhood agenda has hurt this gane so much.... thay fight its DNA as a RPG and try tell you how to play..... thay won't allow us to play as a dude despite us playing as odin reborn and that most pepole hate female eivor.... and just look at what thay did to odyssey..... thay don't cear about the game just the political agenda.....
Alexios plays can get F*#$ed so far as thay cear..... look at the new trailer.... what do we gain from seeing female eivor in it? Nothing but the knowledge that thay don't want us to play the assassin's creed part of the game as a man......
All this and the sisterhood are the once who say thay want to add more magic.... look at thire content, druid's and the festivals..... and now ragnarok..... all full of giants and werewolves and ghosts.......
Assassin's creed fans have defended the sisterhood, beacuse thay are using politics to defend themselves..... well in this situation they sided with the wrong pepole..... the sisterhood don't make AC and they don't want to....
Kassandra in other games...... get ready for the darkest time for us fans...... this is star wars all over again and I don't think this game can survive it.
@@theangryimp1345 Don't be so melodramatic.
@@A.S._Trunks am I wrong? Do you think it's better now that the sisterhood are changing things or worse? Do you think going back 3 years to all but remove the male lead is good or not?
Exactly.... but sure its dramatic

Very enjoyable video, thank you very much! I have been following the AC franchise since its inception, but have never actually played any of the titles myself, funnily enough. In the end, there was always something turning me off, mainly required busy work that often comes with Ubisoft's open world titles. However, if a title like Valhalla, in spite of its intriguing setting, does not even manage to tell a coherent story, preferably an epic one, I cannot see myself playing it at all. Single player titles often bind me with exactly that, a great plotline that drives you forward without content in between that mostly requires you to rinse and repeat over and over again. Sadly many titles seem to stretch their playtime with stuff like that these days. Meanwhile, older Bioware titles proved years ago that games can be decently long while also never getting repetitive. Seems like some design principles of that time went out of the window with the rise of mobile gaming and live service monetarization.
Story is terrible, its like a TV series instead of a movie. But the world itself, personally I believe it is one of the most immersive and mystical but thats my opinion.
I got this game with season pass on 50% off. Maybe after a year of fixing with new content, I think this game is pretty good! At least worth the discounted price.
To be honest, Nose mythology is weird. Loki turned into a mare once and had sex with this guy's massive horse and had a eight-legged horse baby that became Odin's steed.
I do have to say. That teleportation glitch thing where you just suddenly get thrown 100 miles away is worse then normal to me tbh. I absolutely love Valhalla tho
The game has a good story and concept. The mechanic of Ravensthorpe is immersive, fun, and dynamic. The open world is great. Certain arcs like Ledecestre, Grantebridgescire, Lunden, Jorvik, Sciropescire, and East Anglia are highly enjoyable and grounded. There are some standout character moments and plot twists. However, the ending and final battle is lackluster and the game can leave the player feel burned out because there's so much to do. There's so much down time between different arcs it sometimes makes you uninterested and just wanting to continue the story. The Order is not as interesting as it is in Odyssey and Origins, and the confession scenes can be lame. Still, the DLC packs (especially Siege of Paris) are great, and the game is worth it in my opinion.
Tbh I wouldn't rate a game based on it's DLC, as it is basically the price of a brand new game (at least in AC Valhalla) and provide less story and content.
@@evanbeck6670 Makes sense
I love the Assassin's creed series. I always wanted to play Valhalla but just got burned out with the big open world games. Maybe someday.
It's rather expensive as well. It's best to wait another 6 months for a price drop.
@@65firered it’s like 30 or 25 on Xbox rn
@@crazytrent7632 If you want all the currently available DLC it's more than $70.
@@65firered I got the game and dlcs for 50 besides the new one coming
@@slimzztv9963 I got the ultimate edition from someone for $30, however, if you add on the premium pack and the upcoming expansion that totals to $100. If you paid $50 getting everything so far totals to the same price as the Ultimate Edition at full price. Let's not forget this game has microtransactions well which because they cost real money should be acknowledged as a paid portion of the game.
I personally don't think a game can really be "too long" if they game is enjoyable. I 100% The Witcher 3 twice. The first playrhrough took me 300 hours to do EVERYTHING the game has to offer. I enjoyed EVERY second. ACV is decent, but not even close to enjoyable enough to make the same claim about. The only thing better in ACV is the graphics. Its FAR too much of the same thing over and over, and its mediocre. The combat is in desperate need of an overhaul in my opinion.
I love this review it had me laughing through the whole thing. Even the tasteless jokes were funny. Thumbs up dude
Bought it 3 days ago I have 35 hours in the game already highly recommend my expectations at first weren’t high but as I’ve came to play the game it’s really enjoyable, there’s a lot of exploration and many different bosses and places to see. Combat is pretty good but could definitely be better the game overall is pretty good I like the rpg route the game has taken the big maps with people taking you all over them is really enjoyable. If you’re thinking about buying this game and enjoy a long story with a beautiful map and a good amount of exploration I would say this game suits that well
Did they change the sponge enemies?
@@olafharoldsonnii4713 sponge enemies was the worst thing to happen to AC, no point in asassinations when it takes 2-3 hits to kill them
@@olafharoldsonnii4713 what are sponge enemies? If it's what I think it is I'd say some are, some aren't
I love the AC games, all of them, but I do really feel how hard they dropped the ball on this one and how far they've come from the original stealth idea. It was Splinter Cell in a big sandbox. Even AC Unity which gets bagged on was interesting as it gave you two or three choices on how you would like to complete each assassination. Valhalla doesn't really have assassinations, because no matter how you sneak in, you invariably end up bludgeoning your way out after 2 mins. You can't take anything by skill, just brute force. I would have bought this game even if it wasn't AC as I do enjoy charge-and-destroy games, but adding AC to it was almost false advertising.
Agreed
The new ac games annoy me because I really like them, but these new ones mean we don’t get the classic ac games.
@@ogrimzyz8643 Exactly. They will never return to that original stealth form. And Dan is right, Ghost of Tshushima is actually the much superior game. It's the game AC:Valhalla wishes it was.
@@acousticmonkey2209 I mean idk, I play both Tsushima and Valhalla for different reasons. I firmly believe the newest ac titles are good games, just that they’re not great assassins creed games. I think origins is amazing
@@ogrimzyz8643 @oGrimzyz Weirdly I never loved Origins as much as Odyssey. I did so many wars and side quests just to drag that game out. I had taken out over half the cult before I even met their mother😄. I completely agree with you though, they are not great AC games and are a different experience but I would have still played them even on they hadn't had the AC title attached.
Do have to agree with the opening statement. While I was changing jobs I had 2 weeks free and it literally took both weeks for my first play through
The new ac games are good in their own way. But i do miss the story writing of the old games. I was alway very immersed in the Ezio story. Same with Edward and Connor. In those games you felt like the characters you meet are actually meaningfull. Also the protagonists just felt better written in the older games.
As someone who never played any AC games, I find AC Valhalla a great game. The map is so big and gorgeous. Still early on the game but taking my sweet time exploring, reading all the info and getting familiar with the gameplay. I can’t wait to progress and start a nice build for Eivor.
Oh man, I Hope you do not get disappointed with it after some time
@@lukasbusch2135 I know. Its not the best, glitchy textures and animations here and there, but just trying to play it as it is. Just can’t believe a game like this, just released a year ago is like a downgrade.
I got this game last Thursday and I've already put 40 hours into it, I can't put it down, I definitely recommend it
Are you employed?
@@atorres11720 yeah full time, I had a month off at the time.
The Isu story is really hard to explain if you haven't played all the other mainline AC games.
Like the blue smurf lady is actually Juno the roman goddess (the roman gods also being Isu) who has appeared in most AC games.
Eivor isn't actually timetravelling. It's a mix of Odins memories and the mythology that eivor was raised being taught.
So the son probably wasn't actually a wolf but was viewed as a wolf by eivor as that's how the story goes in real norse history.
And Ragnarock wasn't actually ragnarock it was the solar flare that wiped out the ISU.. the chapters of the asgard chapter cover the different ways the ISU tried to save themselves.
The tower in the first chapter being the towers mentioned by Juno in AC3.
The experiment where odin had to give his eye to the ice giants im the jotenheim chapter being junos experiment to reincarnate her dying husband (mentioned in AC 3 then heavily shown in Black flag and Unity)
The ice giants magic mirror actually being the device used to leave messages for ezio and Desmond in AC2.
Basically everything about the ISU all adds up and makes a lot of sense if you've followed that story throughout the games
i enjoy this game very much. the parts that dont feel like an Assassin's Creed game are still enjoyable, and the parts that feel like Assassin's Creed... really feel like it.
specifically the storyline in Lunden where you go to assassinate 3 members of the bad guys' group.
those missions really got me into the AC part of AC: Valhalla.
as a first game for people who want to get into Assassin's Creed, or people who just want a new game they can sink their time [and a bit of money] into, it's a good experience and definetly worth buying. that said, i'd still recommend buying it during a sale. 60 euro for this game makes perfect sense, but i think with all of the microtransactions for cool armors, weapons, boat customization, and companion skins, it would be a better idea to buy the game when its on sale. i bought the ultimate edition for 32. glad i got it on sale.
i havent watched the review but i can say employed or unemployed the game is by far the best in the series. it is extremely long, but if you are looking for a game to kill time and it be entertaining this is it. the combat, visuals, and story as far as base game content are all amazing. ive put 80 hours and still havent finished the base game story. there is so much to do. though it probably would be more for unemployed gamers considering the amount of time you can and probably will put into it.
I love the game but the one thing that I hate in it is fishing (and by extension, hunting) it takes forever and it does not even get me that fish I need. Otherwise I love the game.
I'm a completionist and encountered a bug with one of the mysteries that didn't allow me to complete it, it was a well know bug but they took over a year to patch it really ruined the game for me.
>Basically the Order of the Ancients, later known as the templars, want to control Humanity with the pieces of Eden while the assasins assassinate them so they don't do it. Pretty much that. Then the game will divide the historical characters of any given era into good and bad or neutral based on their relationships towards both orders.
So for example in the reinassance the borgia and pazzi families are evil while Machiavelli and the Sforzas are good. The Medici are neutral as they are a bettlefield for both orders to assert their influence.
During the golden age of Piracy the pirates who want to keep raiding are good and those who want to accept the pardon from woodes roger (and woodes roger himself) are evil,
During the french revolution for some reason they place the royalists as good and assassin's aligned while most jacobins and revolutionaries side with the templars.
In the new games things are more complicated since the main characters are either not part of the assassins like Eivor and Kassandra/Alexios, and Bayek just forms the assassin's order towards the end. In Origins the only "good" historical characters are Casius and Brutus (Caesar and Cleo being templars)
Dan, thanks for the honest, detailed review. happy holidays!
absolutely wonderful walkthrough and overview, this has been collecting dust on my console and this made me want to pull up a bean bag and put in a few hours.
hows the game? is it a level up game? can u buy stuff to upgrade weapons or what type of game is this?
@@myyoutubepage199 it’s a level up game
@@DanJWR22 this game if freaking hard. I could not beat the first boss on normal. And im usually good at games. First assasains creed game for me

This isn't a walkthrough.
I'm 10 hours or so into my first play through of Valhalla, Reached england done a raid or three. So I'm likely further into the game than 10 hours, I did kinda put it onto the back burner for a MEA play through after playing the first three again. Anyway thankfully or not I currently find myself jobless so this seems to be the game for me. I won't watch the full video, as I can see it will contain spoilers and no one wants to be spoiled! So
Thank u bro.... Ur review is so much better than everyone else's... Hounestly I finished AC Oddesy... Like everything.. (excluding the DLCs)...i got AC oddesy for Christmas last year, but now I WANT VALHALLA
I love all the scenes that includes Odin wether they were death scenes or decisions. I was intrigued for every scene he showed up
You've easily become my favorite video game reviewer
Really appreciate the review and recommendations.
Oh my god!!! Dan you’ve gotta do either a Ghost of Tsushima live stream or review!!!!!! That was literally close to my game of the year in 2020 and I loved it!!!
I just finished it 🔥🔥🔥 I hope this game is half as good
Great video as always man!
Great video told me everything I needed to know good shit!
I just got the game this morning and let it download til after school. Can’t wait.
Edit: It’s so damn fun! I have the basim outfit
Just picked this up again and I'm playing on my pc ..its a beautiful game and id recommend for anyone 2022 and 2023 heheheh another game thats crazy rn is shifu
After beating the Isle of Skye DLC + the Irish Saga I was wondering why I wasn't progressing on the main story, turns out I wasn't working on the Alliances at all :D
Opening sentence got everything right. I played this game while in lockdown and as soon as I went back to work I never played it again.
i havent played this one but when he said isu it reminded me of that scene in ac 2 where that woman talks to desmond through ezio
I really loved Origins and Odyssey, hell I played both to 100%. I fought tooth and nail in defending the Story with my brother. In the beginning I loved the story but at one point along the line the story just f-ing derailed hard and mad no sense whatsoever anymore. This plus the ever repeating exploration. I believe that had they dropped all things Assassins Creed in this game and released it just as Valhalla it would have been more successfull. But with all this it was a huge buzzkill. Never finished the game because of it.
They definitely derailed hard on the "current day" storyline but for me (not being a completionist), I am able to almost completely ignore that part of the game and just focus on the valhalla story. Maybe one day you'll be able to return to the game and just focus on the Viking story quests, the game is highly enjoyable!
Hopefully cause I really liked the simple times - gathering the boys and cause some havoc.
I literally have not gone outside the animus since that first time they forced me to.
same
Same story got far too confusing & boring felt like a chore to finish even after trying to speed blitz the game it just wouldn't end!
This is my very first Assassins Creed game and the only reason I bought it was because I just got my PS5 and so I was looking for new games to play it on, this was back when there were hardly any games to get for the PS5 lol but I still enjoy the game and it's graphics are really good, not quite like Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart but still really good for an open world Ubisoft game
The modern-day story must be a trip then.
0:59 had me cracking up, you're a funny guy Dan!
Dont forget about the hunt for all the mythical items. or the other stuff they added post launch. like River raids , challenges and tombs
Well to answer your question at 9:10 Dan, the Order Of The Ancients are the predecessors/ prototype of who later go on to become the main antagonists of the modern day - The Knights Templar/ Abstergo Industries.
Their entire mentality is to seek total domination of the hearts, minds and souls of the common everyday people under the pretence of “bringing order to the chaos of free will” - although they’re not entirely evil, some (mostly the higher ups) seek absolute control over everything through the pieces of Eden/ isu relics.
But in Valhalla, they’re considered villains simply due to their background as TOOA and that the higher ups are completely corrupt - hoped this helps explain. :3
This gonna be my second assassin creed game my first assassin creed 2 so hopefully this is just as much fun
Love you Big Dan! Great video!
Im a huge ac fan and have purchased every main series title except for Syndicate. I been back and forth on this one but being the ultimate edition is on discount, I’ll probably checkin this one out.
I don’t think a game being “too long” is a bad thing 🤔 I like it when I don’t beat a game and then it collect dust after 2 days
But nice review vary detailed 👍
It's depends by a few things if is too long with needless quest or same type of quest over and over again than yea it bad .... really bad unless you are into that okey good, but if they can manage to make a long game with a good story and it doesn't feel like a chore to play than that's perfect
For a game this size. The side activities need to be different and unique. Side activities that change the world over time. I love when open worlds reflect what you have done in the game. And i like the choice of being the bad guy almost all the time
Im on Odyssey now and am considering Valhalla. I love Odyssey but seems almost like Valhalla is a step back as it removes a lot of good things. May be worth a play when its under 120$ for all the dlcs
Good lucky with the over rated crashing
Same but probably just going to wait for mirage
I haven't even started the main game. I've been spending time doing the Discovery missions. Turns out - as described in some of the 'learning materials' in the Discovery game - that the Vikings might not have deserved their reputation for murder, rape and pillage. The 'learning materials' speculate (with a straight face) that these warrior-Norsemen (overwhelmingly men, btw) might possibly be the victims of a bad press, courtesy of the Christians - who, afer all, had good reason to badmouth them. Hmmm. Remember, this is Ubisoft we're dealing with, here.
Why did you emphasize mainly men? Obviously they were men. And yes it true they have fougght for England since like 500ad till like 800 ad im sure im off on the years but for a long long time they fought each other over Thor and Jesus. And since they obviously eventually lost just like a lot of things got skewed into the victors side. Definitely recommend you look into Vikings and the history is definitely worth it.
Lol, read a book? Ubisoft are not interested in history. They are interested in their preferred version of history. I've been through the 'Discovery Tours' in Origins, Odyessy and Valhalla. These are disingenous, biased, bigoted, revised, exclusionary, selective exercises in propaganda. Ubisoft sees history through a specific political lens and if the facts don't fit their equity agenda, then they change them - they actually tell you this themselves in their 'Learning Materials' (in the notes accompanying the various stops along the Tours). If it happened once or twice I could let it slip; when it is incessant and hectoring in tone - and, to me at least, quite mendacious - it is insufferable.
@@philipford6183 this second comment makes me think you got some bipolar stuff going on with how much of a heel turn you took
@@willvermillion1025 - Yes, maybe I laid it on a bit thick. I dunno, when I see stuff like the kids school on the Odyssey Discovery Tour and see Ubisoft stating quite clearly that they chose to include girls in the classroom, although they know this was historically inaccurate (boys only)... well, what are to make of this? Are they interested in history or their version of history? The latter, it would seem, by their own admission. I know; it's just a video game; I should get over myself. But, then again, if they didn't trumpet their Discovery Tour academic consultants perhaps I wouldn't object so much. Just sayin'.
@@philipford6183 I think its okay to modernize history in videogames, long as they don't claim that was how it was back then. historical accuracy to a tee honestly isnt all that fun for me, and if it allows for a larger audience I don't see an issue.
I literally just bought this game today. Five hours and I feel like I’ve done nothing yet lol. Happy to see this video!
Norawy is literally the prologue lol
I also just got this game and am feeling that too, 9 hours in. I want to like this game but holy.
Hang in there, once you leave Norway, the game starts to get really good! It does take a while to get there but it's so much fun now!
I’ve gotten to England. But I’m slightly overwhelmed with this massive world lol

amazing review Big Dan! thanks
Finally Dan! 🥳 I've been waiting for this one.
Same!

Good content! Keep it up man
In odyssey i miss the fact you cant have shields more fighting styles better upgrades to your character abilities skills... Oh well nothing cant be perfect
I picked it up just after Christmas and am loving it. Still worth buying in 2022!
I did enjoy this game but I played it while I was between jobs so I had a lot of spare time, if I had to play this alongside having a job it would have taken me 6 years to complete it
If anyone is wondering, just completed the 2 dlc, and the main game, plus Asgard is just under 55 hours
Always great when reviewers start with a long intro and then say " ok let's get right into it" haha
Honestly AC Valhalla is one of my fav games ever - say what you will. I love it when the Christians attack me and go "Christ is with us!" and then I chop their heads off and go "Now you're with Christ."
Lol you just convinced me 😂
I got bored with the game quickly. I was overwhelmed with all the side content. I have over 200 hours at this point and don't even want to finish the Siege of Paris. I simply don't care about it. There's no incentive to keep playing either. There's no new game+ so you have to either create a new account or delete your save. I want the option to replay while preserving my current game to finish the maps. I'm not sure why they got rid of that option since most previous games offer it. It's a good game for the most part. Absolutely stunning to look at basically being a single playthrough means it gets old fast🤷♀️
You know I love this game and the dlc I'm only about 20 hours in and it's a solid 8/10
And the order ancients is the templars you'd have to play the og assassins games to appreciate it
I'm 60 hours in and have barely scratched the surface, having only confirmed two or three new alliances with puppet kings. Currently on the Isle of Skye taking a break from England. I estimate 200 hours + before I even think about the dlc's. Do you people play at warp speed or something ???? If you take the time to explore all the nooks and crannies and to loot everything possible, there's an unbelievable amount of fun-time to be had.
Great review Dan
I have left this game in a case for more than year odyssey drained me. So much content refiltered and it was a pain
What I'm worried about are the report of bugs on Microsoft Store. Like I don't wanna start playing and suddenly it's broken. Got my answer at 2:30 😅
Edit: I ended up buying it still and I love it!
Hey big dan how was your holidays.. great vid as always.. I just want to say that the assassins creed series has lost its touch something seems off, too many bloodlines and crap i feel. Odyessy seems confusing to me but it was a good game, now im going to try valhalla.
The grits n gravy cut had me dying laughing
I really, really wanted to like Valhalla. But I just can't. The only thing its story really has going for it is Mystery, and once that mystery is revealed, you lose any incentive to continue. The combat was reduced to singularly mashing of Light Attack with occasional Heavy Attacks and a couple useful skills. There is no skill tree, only a 'flat' bush. No character builds are possible. Ubi actually automated the skill application entirely. Say what you will about Odyssey's level gating, it made sense. You knew where you stood with enemies in relation to your level, and leveling up was meaningful. Valhalla's Power Level system was all over the map. Leveling up felt complete inconsequential, and you could have opponents a 100 levels below you still thrash you while you can easily hold you own against other opponents 100 levels above you. A complete mess.
Likewise, I hated the removal of side quests. For the most part, the World Events are dull as dirt. Even the few that could be called 'good' are over and done with in just a couple minutes. 2/3rds of the Blue Dot content is pointless and skippable . . . and you'll become conditioned to avoiding it pretty quickly. In comparison, Odyssey's side quests may have had their issues, but they all had journal entries, took you to different places, and had decent rewards. The Lost Tales of Greece content packs added some of the best side quests into Odyssey, and Valhalla gets nothing of the sort.
Its not uncommon for me to buy an AC game for the PC4 near launch, then rebuy it later on the PC when it hits a steep enough sale, but I don't think I could stomach playing Valhalla again. Even for 10 bucks. The combat system alone makes the game a slog to play.
I just hope one day for studio to grow the balls to make a full-on AAA Vikings game, no Ubisoft, no otherworldly stuff, just a top level story and map set in that period from start to finish.
All I can think about that statement about it being for the unemployed was “damn that tracks… I WAS on furlough from work due to covid” 😂
Love that Dave Chappelle gem at the beginning lol
This game takes way too long to stream recommend playing it in personal time to fully enjoy it
On the other hand, IF you are in there for the community, discussion - games like AC Valhalla are great because you can fill the mind numbing experience with talking to chat etc AND it turns into a good "background game" for stream lasting months.
So strange that you started playing this game. I literally just started playing as well
I'm half Norwegian whicth is viking as fuck but I loved the game for what it is not what it could've been also the way it ties into AC lore I realy love the setting and mythical aspects I love it I just hate the stamina bar and how stealth is sonewhat hard to play as I prefer stealth also good review
I've put in 130 hours in the game so far, but i don't play on long stretches i play a lot of small pockets, so remembering characters was soo difficult for me, even now i can remember some of their quests but not the characters, the story was good IMO, And i have completed odeyssey in a similar fashion and let me tell you, odeyssey does not even come closer to this quality , the story has phasing issues i know, but still it's a soulful one.
I just beat it and the 2 dlcs, now onto Ragnarok I go.
The first time I played it I got bored after a few hours but went back to play it last month and fell in love with it. Gorgeous game tho I wish the character models looked better, and the combat was a bit janky but still fun. Although anything Viking is fuckin cool.
This game is amazing all of AC so far has been it just appeals to a different crowd for assassins creed to keep up with triple A titles they need micro transactions im playing Valhalla right now I love it , people are being dramatic saying it’s ass I agree it’s a different game cause I grew up on brotherhood ACE3 ACE 4 Ect and thinking about it back then it was amazing but right now it isn’t bad it’s interesting I love the combat love the raiding love how much you can do just like odysse and origins luckily I played them a year after they all came out just like any game I never buy any right away because it’s bound to not be as good as it will down the line
Honestly the negative feedback this game recieves reallistically comes from the ac fanbase. I only played ac 1, 3 and stopped somewhere 5 / 6 hours into unity. But i have played both odyssey and valhalla completely and i gotta admit, for someone whos not exactly a big ac fan, i loved both of them. Im a sucker for mythology games (especially Norse) and they are great open world games in general.
Valhalla imo is better then Odyssey because it just feels like theres more to do and accomplish. Ravensthorpe, Asgard, Jotunheim etc.
My only issue is the repetitive quests and puzzles, something they will definitely fix in the next few games.
Question: does the game have good water graphics? just want peoples opinions about that
Bruh at 2:16 I was drinking a pop and it went absolutely everywhere
I’ve seen videos of this game with elves and dwarves, which I didn’t know was a part of this game at all. What am I missing?
I love norse setting and norse mythology that's why I bought this game. But I might it put it aside once God of War: Ragnarok arrives.
Ironic you use Mass Effect when they significantly scaled down the upgrade system. It worked because it was established in the 1st game and was improved on. I haven’t played since AC3. The games still worked without a leveling system though. Bold move changing that.
I'm thinking about buying the gold edition on sale ? Is it worth it or should I go for the ultimate for a extra 10
Yeah, trying to understand the isu stuff in AC gives me a headache. The story from the original games weren't much better with the real world stuff either so you aren't missing much. I enjoyed playing Origins and Odyssey, but I'm burnt out on open world games.
It has no end game content like Odyssey, you can only fish and wander aimlessly on the England map when you did all markers
No matter how many wanna say valhalla is not an assassins creed game, it very much is one. Odyssey is really the only non assassins creed game but even then the dlcs and certain side questlines are much assassins creed.
After doing MANY alliance quests at a time (which should not happen), valhalla always links back to what makes it an assassins creed game with the story of eivor, sigurd and basim. The way all of it ties together in the final few hours and then that ending are 10/10, especially if you did the asgard flashbacks beforehand.
People don't like to say valhalla is assassins creed just because of fantasy aspects but that all fits into the lore perfectly and i only wonder how many people realise that.
They also don't like valhalla for being more like a viking raiding game but just like black flag, that is innovation for the time period that the game is set in.
Finally, they don't like it for being an rpg style which is understandable but if you liked origins and not odyssey for rpg, then valhalla takes you back and even improves on the rpg from origins
Bought it. Set it aside and misplaced the receipt, otherwise I'd return it for partial store credit for something else. Wow, what a confusing mess. I love the first two of the series, also Black Flag, Odyssey and Origins. I'm putting extra time into this hoping some aspect will grab my attention to make it more than a complete waste of money. Some of the side quests so far were so poorly written I felt embarrassed to be playing. The physics is off at times, the reaction of my boat crew is goofy and inappropriate, the boat steering is maddening. I can't find anything. I killed 8 bears (and some wolves) in a short amount of time but gathered no meat from it so I couldn't replenish my health until I found berry bushes. The acting seems forced and the reactions are often flat out goofy. Positives: Some of the scenery is nice. Umm... that's about it. I won't buy another in this series until I read way more reviews than when I got this as I can't trust the series to give me a game I'll at least partially enjoy any more. P.S. I almost forgot... why... why.... WHY would it take hundreds of pieces of iron ore to expand a rations pack? Seriously.
Bro your first sentence alone already got me rolling 😂😂😂😂
Just downloaded it as part of the new PS+, honestly really having a good time with it, but I also loved Odyssey. I've played every mainline AC game apart from Origins and Unity and tbh I prefer the new RPG direction.
You really need to play origins…amazing
@@John-fo3hz My backlog is huge and having just started Valhalla I'll definitely get around to it eventually haha, do you prefer it over Odyssey?
@@danmurawski5790 hey! xbox is having a sale and i picked up origins and looking to buy Odyssey or Valhalla. Imo origins is a blast and i love the ancient egypt setting. I would recommend it!
I just finished a complete play through of the game. I can’t speak for the PC or PS5 versions but the Xbox Series X version is in a technically great state. There are very few bugs and the performance is quite good. The gameplay mechanics and story feel like a big step back after AC Odyssey and Dragon Age Inquisition (the two games I played before it).
Thanks for this video. It was very informative and I think I'll probably buy it. Also I think his name was Half-Dan because he was only Half Danish. In the show Vikings, there is a Half Dan, but the son of Ragnar that is supposed to be Half-Dan is Hvitserk I believe. I don't have the most free time on my hands since I work at Amazon, but on the few off days they allow us, I'm usually playing God of War, but I'm currently stuck on the Queen of the Valkyries, so i need a break. Giving this vid a thumbs up. Thanks again
The legit only reason I would play this is because it has Jesper Kyd for the soundtrack again, nothing looks pleasing otherwise for me
I’m loving this game. Yeah there is a lot too do but I feel like either a game is bloated or it’s not enough content lol idk I’m loving the explore ring and taking the game for what it is. Only thing I really want is a way to grind for those armor sets and a filter for runes lol
Currently 3014 hours in love the game
its a great game! baught it 1 week ago and I'm ashamed to admit the amount of hours I've have put into it.
if you buy it hf and good luck with the "brewing storm" mission.
Thx
Just downloaded this via ps extra and I can’t play it. It seems I created a Ubisoft account, 8years ago on old ps n account, that I got locked out when I got PS4 8 yr ago. The problem is that somehow my old inaccessible ps n and new current ps n account both have the same email. So even if I try create a new Ubisoft account with new current ps n account , I don’t think it would let me because the email is same as past Ubisoft and ps n account. Any1 know an easy way around it? Only thing that I can think of, create new ps n account with a new email. Then create a new Ubisoft account with brand new ps n account and brand new email. This won’t let me play assassins creed Valhalla via ps extra because I will be on a new account BUT by Doing so, at least I can buy Valhalla on disc or digital and play on new ps n email and Ubisoft account. But I don’t want to do that. Sure, making new account and sign it to that and install only Ubisoft games on it, should let me buy and play Ubisoft games but as I paid for ps extra , I don’t want to buy Valhalla, as I should already be able to play. Or is it possible for me to go in my current ps n account that I don’t think is connected to Ubisoft and change my ps n email? That way my ps n isn’t linked to Ubisoft already neither is my new account and then create new Ubisoft account with current ps n with new email?? I hope this made sense and I hope someone can help me. Because I’m gutted to have bought ps extra, mainly for Valhalla and I wanted to play steep and I wanted to buy riders republic but as you can see , I’m having trouble.
Its good until you get to a brewing storm bug and cannot progress through the story.
Currently playing it right now after binging Vikings on hulu lol
