Many Bridgerton fans are anxiously awaiting the return of their favorite show, but some fans are not nearly as excited as they once were-knowing the third season will skip Benedict and Sophie’s love story in book three to tell Colin and Penelope’s love story from book four.
But this doesn’t mean the next season won’t give us more insight into Benedict’s character and hint toward his romance with Sophie. What will happen with Benedict and Sophie in season three? Will we get to meet Sophie in the new season? If so, who will play this iconic Bridgerton character?

Benedict’s story is special because his is absolute love, he knew instantly and didn’t settle for something like it ever. All the others had to work their way into realizing they were in love.
But he deserved a massive wipping on how he behaved torwards Sophie. His first proposal was violating and offensive.

it's good that they went with Colin and Penelope first. Sophie needs to kind of run into Benedict. Within the context of seasons 1 & 2, Colin closed the chapter on Marina and Penelope's mother (now more than before) is going to pressure her last 2 daughters to get married. Plus, with what Colin said & her fight with Eloise, Colin is going to have to actively go out of his way to talk to Penelope. Benedict needs build up in season 3 to become the lead in season 4. Just like Anthony was involved in season 1 with his sister Daphne and the Opera singer and he decided on giving up on love at the end of season 1. Colin and Pen were given the same thing at the end of season 2 (Colin saying he valued Pen then saying he'd never court her). So, Benedict is probably going to have his cliffhanger at the end of season 3 to set him up for season 4.
I thought so too! Like he had to be looking for Sophie for a long time before he finds her. I'm so happy they'll keep to their storyline!
i don't know the story sequence from the book. but i do really hope they also build eloise and theo story more in season 3, even i heard that in the book eloise with sir Philip. but i do hope they make it different
@@khayslife I doubt that they will change it, Theo is a red herring. Eloise's story is already set up in many details, they could even push it before Benedict's if they wish. Not that I think they will.
Introducing Sophie as a maid shouldn’t be done. This is the one story that the writers should keep Sophie’s origins the same. Keeping it the same would put more value on what Eloise has already been through in season 2 and Anthony’s struggle in season one. Sophie’s story is a lovely Cinderella story and I’m excited to watch it play out.
But that IS her origin story. She was basically an unpaid maid to her stepmother
@@patriciamassa7829 yes, but there’s a bit more to her story than just that. Explaining her entire backstory would help to further cement what Anthony and Eloise were already struggling with in earlier seasons. Keeping her entire backstory and not just saying she’s a maid would devalue their sacrifices, IMO.
I wouldn’t mind a brief backstory of Benedict’s love story with Sophie included with Penelope and Collin. It might take this to put all that great love story content in the next season. I want the Cinderella ball, the house party. the cabin and the employment with the Bridgertons, all while being not recognized. We need it all and it’s a pretty long story. Give Pen her day but she’s already had part of her love story revealed in season 1&2. It makes me think that’s how the writers keep us craving the next story. Please just don’t leave out the good bits or change it so much some of the heart is excised for conflict. I’m speaking of the lovely library scene for Anthony and Kate. I can’t wait!
I think that the most they would do is their meeting at the ball. Everything else is a bit too much.
I hope we also see Francesca meet her first and second husband. A lot happens at one ball across multiple books. Also, I would love to see for Penelope and lady Danbury get closer. So far, lady Danbury has supported 2 Bridgerton spouses. In the books, Penelope becomes so close to lady Danbury that she names her daughter after her. I would be sad if they don’t develop that relationship.
the ball happening and Sophie meeting benedict makes sense B/c Collon and Penelope both have a part in that scene ( in the books ) Penelope was the one Benedict was about to dance with before seeing Sophie and Leaves Cause Collon takes his place and later Interrupting Benedict and Sophie on the terrace.
I think it's really smart how they're doing it. Introducing Sophie would have felt kind of sudden and out of nowhere. And there's that art student that Benedict has a situationship with of sorts from S2 of the show. So I think it's smart to play that out and gradually introduce this new character. It's being done so smoothly. Love it.
It makes sense to get into Collin and Penelope's relationship now because we have been watching them blossom.
I hope the deviations from the original books continue, particularly Eloise;s story. I would love it if she and Theo can get together, but Sophie and Benedict's story most likely will have to happen first so that classism can be addressed.
I loved Theo! I never read the books and have tried to avoid spoilers but I realized he’s an original character. I wasn’t excited to find out who Eloise ends up with. There’s only one silver lining to me concerning that storyline.
It was 2 years between the Ball where Sophie and Benedict meet, and then Sophie the maid is rescued by Benedict who doesn't even recognize her

It was on purpose. I saw a comment once that said people do that to get others to engage in the comments because people like to correct and criticize others. Literally saw a post on Instagram that did the exact same thing earlier today.
I'm very disappointed that you are playing down Pen's story as if it doesn't exist! Why not give season three it's just due? I have every confidence that Nicola and Luke WILL DELIVER in S3!! Then we can worry who will play Sophie in S4!
I have a dissagreement to that, I really think that they should wait to Pen to be older, that was the point of her story, what's the point if she marry at the average age of the other "most popular" young ladies??? It is no sense to the general story of the other Bridgerton seasons

Benedict and Sophie was my favorite book 💗💗💗
It was the best decision to skip Benedict's book for this season, i don't think his character is yet to be developed enough for his book to have the spotlight. However, i do hope they go a different direction as i was not book Benedict's biggest fan.
I hope Benedict finds himself BEFORE he finds a woman, he is far too lost right now to find love.
I would love to see Sophie as a minor character first and kind of get to know her outside of her love story with Benedict that is going to be told in season 4 and get to know her through her interactions with Eloise. Eloise is a strongwilled character and the conversations she and Sophie could have without the looming love story are very fascinating for me. Sophie needs her time to shine and be her own character with her own story and opinions. With everything going on and all the story lines coming together it would be easy for that character development to get lost. Also, Benedict is not in a place of settling down. He is obviously still figuring some things out about his place in the family, the world, etc. and figuring out how to be an artist and what that means for him. Honestly, he needs to come to a different place in life in order for that next chapter of his storyline and character development to make sense.
Colin on the other hand is very serious and dedictated. He is absolutly in a place where it would work for him and his character to settle down. Obvs in the books he is on a journey of finding his role as well and finally coming to a place of wanting to be an author. But the way his character is set up - with all of it's seriousness, morals and dedication - that is absoultly combinable with marriage.
Tbh it would be cool if Sophie was a new upcoming actress and not already famous. That way the parallels between rich and poor with famous and not famous. It ties in with a person finding love and passion through the hard work and dedication.
I love all the choices that were mentioned in the video, but I also would love to see Lucy Boynton as Sophie. She and Luke would look adorable together and she plays strong yet vulnerable and haunted at the same time. She's literally a fairy princess.
At first I thought their book was going to be the worst of the series when it was made clear very early on that it was just another cinderella story, but it was easily my favourite book of all. I will never forgive them if we don't at the least get the masquerade ball in season 3.
It's smart that they will film in this order. Although Benedict is already married by the time Colin and Pen get together, both stories mix. Plus, it wouldn't make sense to introduce all of Sophie and Benedict's story now since they first meet 2 years before their love story develops and is part of what makes it so special. Doing the meet up + the love story in the same season would have felt rushed. It should have been in the first season so they could connect in S3 but they couldn't leave a loop open as it was the first season and didn't know how the series would be received or if was gonna be renewed, but now it looks like a good timing.
Just finished Ben and Sophies book actually and its prob one of my fav bridgerton romances but i have to say pen and collins are my favorite im glad their happening rn. My only thing is im dissapointed how far from the book it will be. In romancing mr bridgerton penelope has no intrest in marraige and has given up on it along side eloise. They had such bestie goals but since eloise found out she was whistlton instead of collin that changed the story line to where the spinster thing isnt possible. I am excited ig to see collin fall for her while she gives up on him im guessing at some point eloise and penelope will reconcile too so im excited for that. The sex scenes in the book were a bit wild tho and i know they arent going to recreate all those situations but there will for sure be a sex scene if not a few and i genuinely cant picture this actress and actor doing sex scenes together so that will be different im sure
edit: I have to say tho sophie and bens love was low key toxic for most of the book. I mean his love towards her. He was so intent on having her be his mistress despite sophie telling him time and time again that she never wants to be someones mistress. He even seduces her into having sex with him knowing she doesnt want to be his mistress and has sex with her (without pulling out) having no intent on trying to marry her if she has an illegitamate child. He knew how much it meant to her but still at that moment only could think of not being able to live without having sex with her and its disgusting he spent the whole book trying to get her to do something she didnt want to after everythiing shes been through. Even after finding out her true identity he had no compassion for her until she leaves when realize he actually loves her but fr that whole book benedict was such an asshole up until the very last minute thats one thing that makes me glad that the show has changed some things. One thing tho in sophie and bens book penelope saves sophie by writing that she was taken to jail in whistltown. I wish the show would show more of the good things penelope did as whistltown bcus it highlights the bad things she did more
Okay, I SWEAR I pictured someone like Adeline Rudolph when reading the book. And I kept thinking how fabulous Lucy Liu would be as the stepmother if she was British….now I really want Adeline!!
I am looking forwards to what they do with this story line because I find Benedict to be an absolute arse in the book. Hoping they can do it well!

I wonder if throughout the season there will be a multitude of maids for eloise, but none of them can last with her extravagant personality. Then at the end of the season Sophie appears to take the job. I think it would create a nice cliff hanger as most of the viewers already know who Sophie is.
I wish people will just enjoy the show. It has not disappointed me yet.
Benedict’s story is the absolute best out of all the books. Please do the story justice !

Why do the die hards think that every book ever written needs to be adapted exactly to the letter for every film and tv series. It’s fiction…it doesn’t matter. We all have our favourites and they’ve done the books justice so far. Trust the process!
Had they then planned a ball around Colin and Penelope’s wedding, then that could possibly set up a meeting with Sophie. But Ykw we will find out.
I actuallly do like Sophie as thee shadow and Bone actor. Because if Cinderella was originally an Asian story so it really makes sense to me.
I agree they'll introduce her in S3 so that fans can get familiar with her. We tend to root for people we 'know' more than strangers. They'll also likely pop Phillip in there to set up Eloise story for later. However, I don't think she'll be Eloise's ladies maid this soon because if Eloise helps her to the ball, then she'll know who she is so when Benedict is searching for the mystery woman, Eloise would know it was Sophie and just tell him. Remember, it's the servants in her stepmother's house that get her ready for the ball and keep her secret. She wouldn't be the ladies maid until after he knows who she is, or thinks he knows her as a maid.
Honestly they've built up to Colin and Pen for so long and we havent even so much as MET Sophie yet.

I think that lily James would ,be perfect for Sophie. She resembles the character from book and they have already changed a lot of the characters from books. would be nice to have one that stays true to book and the Cinderella story
Sophie and Benedict's story (which is my favorite book) won't be everyone's cup of tea, so I have a strong feeling that they'll skip their story in season 4 in favor of Eloise's story since she's a fan favorite.
If season 4 IS going to be about Sophie and Benedict, then the best introduction for Sophie would be the same as the one in the books but it should be at the end of season 3. I remember reading the chapter where Sophie and Benedict first meet, I got goosebumbs from how magical and hot the whole interaction was.

benedict, colin, and eloise’s love stories all kind of developed at the same periods of time. just because they aren’t going chronologically by book, doesnt mean we won’t see the other love stories developing or at least see some hints.

N Benedict can't forget him and he is in turmoil n is discovering stuff.

I was already disappointed with how they deviated from the storyline of the 2nd book. The love story of Kate and Anthony was wonderful because Edwina never really had feelings for Anthony in the books and Kate never really hurt her sister that bad. It never really reached the altar for Edwina and Anthony but they ruined that. Yet I made peace with it somehow but i don't mind this change really because while reading the books i felt like Benedict's story came out of nowhere, I would be more interested in Penelope's story first.
After season 2 i went and read the book again so i could feel better

Spoilers if you didn't read the book:
Before that and the whole London season of the book, she was handmaiden for the widow of her father and her daughters, which had custody over her until she became an adult at her birthday and the widow wanted to throw her (the bastard) out at the first chance. She made an Cinderella appearance in her grandmothers gown at the Bridgerton masked ball. Benedict falls hard for her and is searching around the ton in London, thinking her his equal, while she is fleeing from her cruel custodian that betrayed her unknowingly about her part of the inheritance of her late father and making false accusations about theft. After some time they met by chance again (she is now a servant) and he protects her from being raped, but he doesn't recognises her... and her being of a different social standing...

I could be wrong but Benedict in the show gave me a bit of a bi-curious vibe. Don't know if this was intentional or not, would have been interesting to explore this.

Book 4 is Penelope and Colin. Book 5 is Eloise's courtship and marriage, which she is away from London and her family for. However book four and five run concurrently. Book 3 Sophie and Benedict's romance was the least interesting book because he is away in the country painting and a cottage for it. (Although when I call a book least interesting, believe me all the books are extremely badly written and repetitive, But they have made great TV shows).
I can see Eloise's marriage being season 4 and then Benedict season 5
if i had a nickel for everytime eloise's best friend marries her brother, i'd have two. which isn't a lot but it's funny that it might happen twice
