  • Good evening, my fine folk! Welcome to the channel, and thank you very much for sharing your time with me. Last weekend, I was lucky enough to be invited to a private location to spend two nights 🌌 under the stars and 3 days to enjoy plenty of #bushcraft activities. There was plenty of fine food and drink to be had and all in the company of two awesome like-minded gents. Hope you enjoy the video, ladies and gents. I certainly enjoyed filming it! #bushcraftuk #wildcamping 🏕️

Looked like a great time, Ste. Those fields were beautiful. I was thinking the same thing about that Pomoly table. My gear "to get" list is unending 😄👍

😄 always got one eye open, scoping for new gear 😄 it's a great little table to be fair, bud. The woodlands were awesome. Who knows who may have set a camp there hundreds of years ago!?

lovely meal, beautiful scenery with great friends, wonderful memories and awesome video, thanks Steve for more UK Bushcraft, it rocks you know👍at about 14:13 I expected a movie scene, maybe a rumble in Sherwood, when you all stood up around the fire checking for the rainfall, before the woodwork display, let me know if it was a squirrel skull

    • @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors
      @BushcraftWithSteOutdoors  Před 2 měsíci

Hey there, Connie. It's great to hear from you. I bet you could be right regarding the squirrel skull. The woodland is a stunning place it was attached to a far larger estate, I believe, but was privately sold many years ago. Thanks for dropping by. Have a great weekend. Take care.

As a bushcrafter, , having been in severa lsurvival situations, I always say first things first......take the time to build the fireplace. You got warmth, and cooking facilities right there. THEN, build the shelter around the chimney.
A few buschrafting essentials I take with me are....
    1. A ferrous steel firelighter.
    2. A damn good knife that is sharp, to do everything from cut the meat to carving wood and to feathering to start the fire.
    3. An Axe/hatchet.....for the whacking off the twigs off the blown-down tree trunks.
    4. remember the soil you work with.....be it clayish (you know you're digging down to the clay layer when it gets around red or yellow (depending on where your are around Britain. It's usually sticking and you'll need you're hands to break it up).
    5. Always have a tarpaulin handy......or 3. They'll always come in handy, be it roofing, or just a shelter from the rain/snow/hail.
    6. Make sure you get into woods that are either birch, pine (always use the fallen pine trunks for a shelter, but you can use anything else in a wooded area).
    7. More than anything, learn to use the natural components in the environment around you.
Other than that, I've been there, done that, and one thing I forgot, was a shovel....be it military or otherwise.....make sure there's a blade on one side, a serrated edge on the other, a pointed edge on the tip of the shovel, and you can fold it (with a sharpening stone, although you can use any stone that is like the in-between of sandstone and granite...so igneous rock and the next level that is next to sandstone.

Sorry lovies, I'm bloody tired, I'm a biker, been asked for shit-loads of psychological insight. It tires me, but I love it so I will never give it up.

Absolutely beautiful woodland there Ste, and an awesome camp setup 🏕️. I love DD Hammocks and have the Multi Cam section of their website bookmarked n my laptop 😁🥰.
I am looking forward to getting out camping with my friend and her kids at a Provincial Park here in Ontario this weekend that I have never been to. It is frontcountry/car camping with her pop-up trailer, but her and I both enjoy keeping it simple and more rugged than glamping 😆.
This is our Victoria Day holiday weekend here (referred to as May 2-4 long weekend) and we have Monday off for the holiday. As always, it is classic UK weather here…chilly and pouring rain ☔️🌧️😆.
    Have a good one mate😊 👊🏕️.

That looked like a great few days away. We've a stunning bluebell wood like yours, near us. It attracts hunners and hunners of day tourists, especially since the estate put paths everywhere. I've noticed over the years that where there's wild garlic, the bluebells aren't far away. I've never seen someone take an axe to a chicken, LOL. I like my fingers too much, so I use kitchen scissors. That breakfast looked awesome. It had me drooling. Top tip - add a wee splash of very hot water to your mess tin (I hate mess tins). Sloosh it around your sausages, then tilt the mess tin and pour it out from the corner. Hey, Presto, no more over salted sausages. Nice to see left-handed shooters like myself, too! Back in my FT days, getting an ambi or L/H stock was a nightmare. Q? What number was that Opinel? It was huge! I've a number 8 for outdoor food prep. Good video. Thank you.

Good afternoon, Liam, me old mucka! Hope you are having a great start to the week, buddy. It was indeed a fantastic weekend! Proper bushcraft camp. Great company in a great location. It was a spectacular sight to behold when that purple sea came into view 💜 😄 The axe attack on the chicken just felt right at the time! It must have been a mystical energy lingering in the woods 😄 Breakfast was lush! Just forgot my mushrooms! Nice tip for my dead sausage 😄 I'll remember that, bud. Yeah, being a lefty myself, I do like the ambi stock of the tdr. The tx200 was nice but has a right-handed stock. The spinel must have been a 14 or 15! It was mahoosive! Thanks for dropping by buddy. Take it easy.

Great camp, Ste! Amazing woodland you were able to enjoy. Very nice. You're lucky to have friends that enjoy the outdoors. My friends are lame, their idea of camping is when room service is late..so I'm always going solo. 👍🏻🏕🔥🍻
