  • Many people use Roon, and there are already great videos on how to get started if you don't.
In this video, I wanted to feature two tips. One led me down a fun test of trying to discern the difference between different filters, dither, sample rates, etc.
The other tip was even more meaningful and had to do with being able to correct issues either with my room, speakers, or preferences.
The key is using both of these tips properly and with the right expectations.

Good video. I would just add to the discussion that if you find yourself wanting to boost frequencies - instead of adding gain where you feel the need, you can always experiment with bringing down the rest of the spectrum instead. i.e. to increase treble, instead of boosting the treble do the opposite - bring down the bass and mids and this gives you the same effect of a treble boost. you will maintain more headroom this way and might even be able to bring the overall gain back up a little once you find the right curve.

Yes I talk about that tip in other room correction videos, but some are now adding automatic correction to everything if you boost (ie the new Optimal Room Correction software by Theoretica Applied Physics -Bacch

@@AudiophileJunkie right on. just stumbled on this when I was researching how to setup some EQ on my Roon ROCK NUC. What would you recommend for auto room correction these days for use in Roon? I have a feeling the software these days has gotta be smarter and more efficient then me doing it manually lol

Another EQ tip. To find the frequency you want to change, set the gain very high or low with a narrow Q. This will let you sweep the frequency until you find the area you want to change. Once identified, follow the tips in this video to adjust it properly.
