That Eldorado is a dream car. Sadly, Cadillac just doesn’t offer any new cars that I would dream of owning. I keep holding on to my 1984 Cadillac Eldorado Biarritz Convertible as I have never seen anything that I like better - it has been with me since 1992 and will likely be with me as long as I am able to drive. I am it’s second owner, and I fell in love with it when it was featured on the floor of the St. Louis New Car Dealers’ Automobile Show in 1984 - beautiful dark blue with white leather and top.

A few features of the Eldorado not mentioned in the video: The radio has a built-in 'reverb' feature as well as NOAA weather band (good to have in a convertible). The speedometer recalibrates to metric without having to use two sets of numbers on the dial. Look for 29MPG at 70MPH on the highway. The back seat is very comfortable for a six footer in the steel roof version. Nice tour of the car. Thanks for all of the details!

Nice car, though I wonder about those side boots for the convertible top. I was waiting for the moment, but seems you forgot to put them on? My impression is, are they cumbersome to deal with? To me, it looks like two open void spaces without them & they should be installed.

I bought a 2002 Eldorado ETC with 65,000 miles from Copart in Oregon. $225! Your convertible has latches that are similar to the 1990 to 1995 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme convertibles built by Cars and Concepts in Georgia.

I've owned a ton of Northstar engine Cadillacs, you hit the nail on the head.... get rid of the Dex Cool..... I have a trick to fixing that head gasket issue, I used to buy them a lot... but that is a really nice car.

    Hi Anthony,
    I would like your thoughts...
    I've owned two Cadillac DeVilles,
The first 1996 with a Northstar engine,
Had to be replaced in 2008
    Leaving me with $3000
    Repair bill!
I liked the overall car, and the body was starting to show it's age so I got another one identical to the first one that I owned...
I didn't plan it that way it just happened...
    But now,
After owning the car since 2011....
It is my daily driver and it runs on the hot side.
I'm shopping around for a different car, because the thought of spending another $3,000 to replace another Northstar engine is not an option.
The car in your video is very nice, but the thought of owning another Cadillac with a Northstar will never happen again.
What are your thoughts on these ticking time bombs?

    • @buzuxi
      @buzuxi Před 2 lety

They didn't perfect the Northstar till the 2005 MY. They learned from the metallurgy of the LS engines primarily the aluminum heads require longer coarser bolt threads. The 2005-2010 Northstar engines should be good.

Coachbuilders did a good job...talked to them a few times...I worked in the parts department and you wouldn't believe how many vogue tires we warrantied! Look good on some cars but junk sidewalls. This car's a steal for 18grand. Gm had a lousy chroming process back then for the wheels. My 03 lesabre had the same peeling and pitting issues so I bought new ones and just taking care of them....just gotta wash them often and keep them waxed. First thing I did to my lesabre was get the dexcool out of there...complete flush and green coolant added.

Another Gozzo legendary car - Anthony sets the gold standard for reconditioning. Few dealers will invest in making a used car a true turnkey ready for driving enjoyment car like Anthony, sounds like he spent $4,000 to $5,000 getting it to his standard - and he still resells it for a reasonable price! If anything, I think Anthony could become even pickier and people would still gladly pay knowing that there was nothing else needed. I do have one minor suggestion: there is no need to pass your personal opinion about soft boot vs. hard boot aesthetics, the customer's eyes can decide for themselves what they think of the style. The quibble about the latch handles needing to be retracted is also a quibble that would be better presented as an emphasis on proper top operation. Specialty Motor Cars is in the premier league of vendors for modern classic cars. Bravo for another beauty!

Hi Anthony....I own a 99' ETC and am totally in love with the car, but I don't understand why most (all?) reviews don't get into the internal design benefits that Cadillac builds into them. Perhaps its because many reviewers do not have access to the original owner's manual (I had to secure mine from E-Bay). Some examples of these included features are as follows:
    Feature______________ Description____________________________
Power seat controls 8-way power front seat cushions and seat backs
adjust to fit two different drivers.

Power lumbar control Adjusts the lumbar part of both front seat-backs and
turns their lumbar massage feature on and off.
Seat/mirrors memory Seat and mirror positions can be programmed for
    two different drivers via their keyless entry fobs;
Correct seat/mirror adjustments are set for each
driver when the fobs are used to unlock the vehicle.
Memory for two different drivers also includes
preferred radio settings and climate control settings.

Power trunk latch Set the trunk lid down gently and the power latch
quietly screws the trunk down tight (No more trunk
    slamming required).
Heated seats Each front seat cushion has adjustable heating.
Valet lock-out system Pushing the button in the glove box disables the
power trunk latch, power fuel door and any garage
openers. The car keys will lock the glove box.
Driver information Communicates with the driver via a message display
System line in the dash to alert the driver to any vehicle
conditions and problems that may arise. A real
Geezer-mobile...even tells you when road ice is possible.
Rain Sense Once engaged, the windshield wipers will automatically
increase or decrease their speed or pause based on
how much water is on the windshield.
Cruise control Allows the driver to set car speed and no longer
need to use the gas pedal on long trips.
Lighting Control Handles all switching on and off of lighting and
(Twilight Sentinel) is programmable. Turns appropriate lights on
and off at dawn and dusk based on ambient
    light.
Cornering lamps These lamps automatically go on when a turn is
signaled. The lamps are located on either front
side of the car and illuminate forward, low and to
the side to illuminate the area of the turn being
    made.
Self-dimming Instrument lamps are automatically dimmed as it
Instrument lamps becomes dark outside and the headlights go on, and
automatically brightened as the sun comes up.
Storage Mode This feature is programmable from the Driver Info
(hibernation) System for long-term non-usage of the vehicle. It
prevents long-term battery drainage from radio,
amplifiers, instrument cluster and remote keyless
    entry systems.
Electrochromic rear- Automatically dims at night to reduce glare from
view Mirror with vehicles behind you. Includes an 8-point compass
compass that automatically re-calibrates as you drive.
Remote control side Side mirrors are power-adjustable from the driver
mirrors (heated) seat, are heated for defrosting and are automatically
set for each driver when the key fob is used. Driver
side mirror automatically dims glare from behind.
Curb view assist When shifting to reverse, the passenger-side mirror
mirror automatically tilts down to see the curb to the rear
    for parallel parking. (programmable)
Rear console storage Between the rear seats is a passenger storage
compartment compartment with a dual cupholder that folds
    out for use.
Passenger side vanity Fold down the passenger-side visor to use the
    mirror adjustable brightness vanity mirror.
Climate control Automatically controls inside temperature for
system driver's side and passenger's side separately.
Set the desired temperature and forget it.
Rear window De-frosts and de-fogs the rear window.
    de-fogger
Rear seat adjustable Allows rear-seat passengers to adjust their fan
vent direction and speed and vent directions in the rear area.
    fan speed control
Steering wheel Allows the driver to control climate control fan
controls speed and temperature, as well as CD track and
player volume without taking eyes off the road.
Cassett tape, single Sound system is a Bose Premium, eight-speaker
CD player and sound system. Includes Digital Signal Processing
am/fm radio (DSP) which will maximize sound from Talk,
Live or Auditorium broadcasts or to focus sound
on the driver's seat. Players and radio will not
play in another vehicle if stolen.
Power radio antenna Automatically deploys when the sound system
is turned on. Is otherwise totally hidden.
Anti-Lock braking Automatically prevents brakes from locking up
(ABS) and causing a skid during panic stops.
Traction control Automatically limits wheel spin by sensing that
system one or more wheels are losing traction and using
brakes and throttle to restore traction.
Stabili-trak Senses when traction is poor during regular (non-
braking) conditions and works to stabilize traction.
Underhood lamp Lights up under the hood when the running light
switch is turned on, for engine work at night.
Hydraulic Suspension is hydraulically controlled (no shocks).
Suspension System automatically senses road surface and
hardens or softens suspension accordingly. Also
self-balances when trailer tongue weight is added.
Engine Engine is an eight-cylinder, overhead cam,
Northstar engine with four valves per cylinder. It
produces 300 horsepower, gets 25 miles per gallon
of gas on the highway (using cruise control), and 19
    mpg in town consistently.
Design Feature Dash and doors are tastefully enhanced with genuine
    zebrano wood.
P.S.: Like your videos...can't say the same for the after-market soft-top on this example...it ruins the

Neat with the top down ugly with it up. They should have made it a hard top convertible or at least angled the back if the ragtop.

Looking for a early 80's Oldsmobile 98 regency with a 5.7 Diesel. Doesn't have to be prestine or low low miles. But I would like to find a running rust free or very minimal rust candidate. Prefer cloth over leather. But will take what I can get. Only thing I am strongly against is mouse infestation. Small mechanical issues are fine. . Let me know if you can help. I had one in burgundy with burgundy velour when I was younger. And now I'd like one again.

Hi Anthony that car is beautiful and if I could afford it I would be down there tomorrow from you and the North Stars are good engines if you keep up with them I had a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII LSC and only had 33,000 Miles on it and it was a Convertible and it was made by Coach Builders also and from Maimi In Florida is were the car was and they even put the Brass name on the dashboard for the owner who had it and I paid $10,000 and I never ever seen a car that I had oh and it was even Garaged since it was brand new I bought it back in 2010 and then only drove it on Sundays because I had a garage and I don't think it even had a scratch on it and the Convertible top from Coach Builders came with a snap on red cover when you put the top down and I owned it for 2 years and had like 10 coats of wax on it and the car was white Exterior and red interior with the white Convertible top and the Lincoln Mark VII LSC had the honeycomb rims and the 5.0 high output and it was really fast and the only thing I did in 2 years was just changed the oil a few times and the other fluids and I put high performance spark plugs and wires and when I sold it the car only had a little over 38,000 and I sold it for $24,000 from a retired Airforce guy who was from Maryland and I picked him up at Logan Airport and he couldn't believe it when he seen it and I even let him drive it home back to Maryland with my Plates and insurance so he didn't have to have it shipped back then but now I wish that I never sold it because right now I could probably get $50,000 for it. Goodluck on selling it I am sure you won't have a problem.
