People don't even realize how bad it is for the lungs and heart to inhale this stuff. It's not just wildfire ash, it's highly contaminated and toxic wildfire ash that traveled from Canada to US. The longer it stays in the air the more toxic it becomes.
Only good news is that it shouldn't be fatal in most cases. If it was volcanic ash the people inhaling it would be in serious trouble.
However the quantity and density of the smoke is a concern imo. This isn't just a big forest fire, it's like 400 wildfires all at once. So it may get really bad and worse than people imagine.

My political views maybe in the middle, but the one thing you will never hear me deny is global warming. This phenomenon is caused by anomalies in difference between arctic and equatorial tempatures that normally generate and regulate an overall west-to-east oriented planetary air circulation system. THE WINDS KEEP BLOWING
The winds... what do they represent?
I hear her outside my window.
Blowing & Moving and Blowing & Moving,
doing her part to change the world...
    Do you hear her?
    Do we understand the winds...?
    Do we understand her language?
    It's a universal language...
A language that has been speaking
the same way, since the beginning of time...
    We refuse to understand...
    Listen... she's getting Louder, Stronger...
I hear her outside my window,
doing her part to change the world...
    Is she loud enough?
    Do you hear?
    Do we feel her Anger?
    The wind is blowing...
    she's Annoyed, she's Displeased...

I did not panic or freak out, that ain’t gonna solve nothing, in Canada we have house insurance. Raclark I agree. I can't speak for the situation in Australia, but in Csnada I don't believe it will change. It won't change because it is being used to push the climate change agenda. That and the Canadian Prime Minister is too busy spending money overseas instead of taking care of Canada's needs. We needed forest management, but that was cut from the budget. Currently we need resources to fight these fires. Resources that we don't have because of the current government's priorities.
Speaking to US citizens: If you want to write your politicians to blame the Canadian Prime Minister for dropping the ball there will be no hard feelings from this Canadian. In fact I encourage it. The PM doesn't seem to listen to Canadians. I feel he needs to be called out on the international stage for the poor job he is doing.

Ordinary mask wont do ANYTHING for this. You need a proper HEPA filter! Whole room filter, or a portable face filter!

No it won't, not unless the jet streams shift course and blow the winds south west in the years to come.
You're focused on the forest fires, what you should be focused on is the direction of the wind.
That's the only thing that's unusual in this situation.

@@Cj2o Climate change is not man made per se but it is enhanced ten fold by human activity, that is a scientific and indisputable fact.

Nova Scotian here.. we just survived the worst fire in our province's history and thank f*cking goodness nobody was hurt too bad or died(as of this moment). Our entire country is on fire right now and yes it is tragic to see how it is affecting the air in other places too, but it's a fact that these things happen.. when California had that horrible year no one talked about how the smoke affected places other than California, we focused on the fire and helping the people in the disaster. I'm a little disappointed by the public response to the actual fires here, with over 400 actively still burning we're nowhere near through this. We could use some compassion. All in all, I really hope everyone south of us stays safe too, but I won't apologize for being more concerned for my own countrymen right now. Stay safe, use ashtrays, no fireworks and for goodness sakes be kind to people.
