CHANGE LOG
Implements improvements:
1. AESS settings can now be saved for each mode.
2. Improved DNR characteristics.
3. Changed the MENU notation of CW WAVE SHAPE.
4. Fixed a bug that MIC EQ was enabled in DATA mode.
5. Fixed a bug that some items were not reflected when calling QMB.
6. Fixed a bug that the band stack was not memorized properly when the power was
turned OFF.
7. Fixed a bug that the cursor position was not memorized in CURSOR mode.
8. Fixed the problem that the icon may be lost when the power is restarted with TUNER
ON.
9. Improvement to permit shifting to PMS with the CAT command.
10. The repeater shift frequency is reflected in the FA and FB commands.
11. Fixed a bug that CAT-AI was not output when operating PRESET items.
12. Fixed a bug in the operation of the EX command "TUN/LIN PORT SELECT".
13. Fixed the problem that the response was not performed normally when CAT
commands were received continuously.

Your video is great. I saw where I made my mistake in trying to do the firmware update. Thanks. Now my 710 has the new firmware.
But, Yaesu did a terrible job in this procedure. When I got the radio, I turned off the IPO for every band and every band stacking register. I also turned my AGC to fast the same way. I also turned on BK-IN the same way. I also set the band width for every band and band stacking register that way. So I did my firmware update, full reset and then did a restore from my SD card where I had saved the radio's configuration.
A lot of the settings, like the equalizer returned. BUT....I had to completely do over the preamp, BK-IN, AGC and numerous settings all over again. I knew what to go after but it was a pain in the butt and took me 30 minutes to completely put the radio back where it was to my
liking. I hope the RT software does a better job of restoring the radio after a full reset.

Thanks for the reminder to do this upgrade. I have just done mine. The DNR is much better now. Before it was unusable above 3, whereas now you can go up to 10 before it gets a bit watery. If you do the upgrades one at a time, as I did, after doing the Main one, you get an error code 001 and it takes you to the update screen to do the remaining upgrades. Probably best to do the DIsplay first as instructed, then the other three altogether and then the reset. Mine was fine after this. I think this means you can't mix and match different upgrades. I agree, this is a lovely rig. I also have the IC7300 and if I had to choose one, I really don't know which I'd keep! I have mine running into an external 24" display with mouse click to tune, really fantastic!

Thank you for the video. I just performed the update and tried it this evening. I was hoping for some DNR changes for this radio and these exceeded my expectations. This radio became excellent literally over night. I chose it over the ftdx10 because the ft-710 has better ergonomics. The ftdx10 is such a great sounding radio. Now I feel very good about the choice after this update. I also use the dvi port and send the display to a large monitor. I noticed that the display is sharper and less grainy after the update. This was surprising to me as I figured this was a function of the graphics card and could not be improved. Thanks again, great video. KF0IIB 73

DNR works very fine and all the other update-points are very interesting. The FT710 is my portable radio. The first one is SDR with RedPitaya and Thetis on Windows 11. But the FT710 is very usefull and a wonderfull nice transceiver.

It's confusing when you say at 4:41 that we need to do a factory reset at the end of this. I had three failure attempts before I finally did a factory reset BEFORE I tried to do the firmware update. Darned scary when the screen goes black and won't turn on or respond to any button presses. But, I finally got it.

Hi. I'm thinking of getting my ham license and was looking at the yaesu ft7100 and the icon7300 what's your thoughts and do you think I should look at some others in this price range?

HI. Is the noise it makes every time you turn the volume knob up from zero normal? It's very annoying and I don't know if it's a defect, like a damaged potentiometer or the radio was born like this. Thank you.
