In what 70 years?

We could have said the same thing for Suns and Bucks 10 years ago lol
@@AlbheaStaana tbf everyone was injured that year

2016 in itself is one of the greatest seasons in NBA history. Kobe farewell season, 73-9, unanimous MVP, wfc 3-1 lead, finals 3-1 lead, believe land drought, Cavs fire their coach hire a new rookie coach and kyrie and Kevin love come back halfway thru the season from injuries, gordan gets robbed in dunk contest
Speaking of Aaron Gordon, he’s making his first NBA Finals appearance 7 years later
2011 was better
I think 2016 is also one of the few (if any-can't think of others off the top of my head) where you have three singular plays that define the series, those being The Block, The Shot, and The Stop, all by 3 of the winning team's biggest players. Like they all had a signature moment when it mattered most. Granted, K Love's stop is the least talked about, but it's just as important.
I think maybe with 2013 you can make a case for Bosh's rebound and Ray's game-tying 3, but I can't think of a third Heat moment in that same game, and Bosh's rebound is also heavily underrated (say what you want about Timmy being on the bench at the time).
2013, Bosh's Block is extremely underrated in OT. Blocked Danny Green from a potential series-winning Corner 3
agreed about the stop’s importance but imo ppl are right not to talk about or immortalize it in the same legendary air as the other two. klove struggled to be much more than a mediocre role player that postseason, had virtually no positive impact in that series whatsoever, and while he managed to stay in front of curry/contest his shot on THAT possession he’d otherwise been a major defensive liability that GSW had exploited to torch them throughout the series.
does that ERASE what he he did in that moment? of course not. it just makes it very different than the other two because it was AN EXCEPTION to the story of those finals in which klove earned himself some (admittedly inspiring) redemption for the fact that he’d been an overall negative to CLE due to his otherwise consistent failure in that exact kind of defensive situation (and unlike kyrie, completely lacking the offensive production to make up for it)…
now consider that in opposition to the block/the shot, which both so potently and accurately exemplify the legendary story of those finals UNBELIEVABLY WELL (as in they actually represent exactly HOW they fought their way back from down 3-1 and make for remarkably iconic examples of exactly WHY they became champions that year) which was of course the utterly jaw-dropping superstar heroics and other-worldly levels of effort and determination from lebron james and kyrie irving… kevin love finally coming through with a single defensive stop simply DOES NOT carry same meaning, even if they could’ve potentially lost without it.
We’re all gonna be telling our grandkids bout the 2016 finals
2016 was insane. I was working at my first ever job at Dairy Queen and I went from mopping the floors to just standing there with my mop watching it on this tiny little crappy box tv, had my parents texting me asking where I was because it was an hour after I normally got home...
Perkins injury was definitely huge. As a Lakers fan it was bittersweet. Hate to see someone injured but was definitely relieved. He was a force.
Because on ball defense isn’t a stat it’s often overlooked. That’s why the defensive greats aren’t as valued as the offensive greats, but every winning finals team was anchored by defense.
Do the Celtics get a asterisk for the 08 ring cause the lakers didn’t have Andrew Bynum?
No one ever brings that up
Perk missed a game, Bynum missed the whole series and slid Pau to the 5. Definitely a bigger deal that Boston not having Perk for game 7.
Would you give the Lakers the same asterisk for the Perkins injury in 10?
You can’t use perks in the NBA anyways, it’s a controlled substance
Bynum wasn't good by that point but you could say so also the Celtics were injured on 09 and 10

I can't believe y'all put 2014 so low, even below 2019.
Yes it was a blowout, but one of the greatest team performances in basketball history.
The same can be said about the 2017 warriors but people hate on them so much that nobody ever gives that finals its props
@@willdouglas6554 Definitely disagree. Completely lopsided after they injured Kawahi and ruined a franchise

Legit 2016 but built up and better basketball, comeback and full 7 games

@@impacc4182 fr ppl love hating Lebron
@@redxlillard7880 2013 finals better, the Cavs and Warriors weren't that good (Warriors were missing players and Cavs defense was mediocre). Split the 2016 finals in half and both halves are lopsided other than the final minutes or so in G7, but even that is just bricks as a result not because of great defense but bad offense execution, while non of those were as serious in 2013 finals. The personnel and coaching were just better.
@@joshuachang5210Noy really. The games were close and it was in the final minutes that any team pulled away. There was like 42 minutes of great basketball from both sides and then there's either the Cavs or Warriors pulling away in the last quarter. Even the blow outs added to it all. Both teans are capable of blowing yhe other side out proving they're even.
2019 is my favourite finals of all time. I suspect my being a Raptors fan may have swayed my decision 😂 good list!
So looking forward to the wizards kings series
Having Roman Reigns theme is so good for an intro
They are mocking Perkins but he was litteraly the center of Celtics elite defense . It shows from the fact that gasol this tall slow scarecrow got 23+ rebs Celtics defence was weak against offensive rebounds and was one of the main reasons they lost in 2010 finals . I don't take the pride away from Lakers . They were incredible and proly deserved the title . I am just putting some respect in the name of 2010 Perkins
Paul gasol murdered Kevin Garnett in that game 7
@@Damianoutlaw he didn't have Perkins support but yes I agree as a diehard Garnett fanboy . This was a triumph of gasols career
Sasha Vujacic's game clinching free throws in Game 7 are a little overlooked IMO for the 2010 Finals. Those were ice cold shots
yeah lol imagine if he missed one, boston could have got a tying 3 pt shot fr
2014 finals was the most satisfying NBA finals ever. RIP Miami Heat Big 3
I remember vividly screaming at lebron his stats were ok but kawhi put clamps on him and he wasn't making the best plays
2014 is the best example of why the spurs were and could have been the greatest team of the late 00s and early 10s had they had a proper cross conference rival. The big 3 Heat were the closest they came to that rival and it shows. Spurs wanted the Heat in the finals in 2014 for what happened in 2013. Had the Spurs won in 2013, 2014 would not have happened and would have played out like in 2015.
It’s funny because though I was and still am somewhat of a Lebron hater, I actually rooted *for* Lebron for just that year because of how hard the media was riding the Spurs..
Haven’t seen them get so annoyingly horny over a single team ever since, up until the 2022 Celtics
The Celtics losing Perkins is definitely a big deal. They had Scalabrine get some minutes that game. Still no asterisk though
The concensus among Lakers fans is, they didn't have Bynum in 2008 which put Gasol in the middle against the bigger Perk for a pro-Boston mismatch. I call it even. I think the better team won, it was close, and other than 2016, the best Finals Game 7 I've seen in a looooong time.
2017 Game 4 and 5 was Hype cause alot of people actually thought Cavs were going to come back from 3-0 and for a while in game 5 the game was actually close till about the end of the 3rd. Had they manage to make it 3-2 who knows.

You need to check your facts.
“Dirk was a Perennial under achiever” in the playoffs?????
Are you f-in kidding me?????
Dirk Nowitzki was always one of the premier postseason performers in the NBA.
He only had one bad playoff series his entire career which was in 2007.
The mavericks underachieved In the playoffs between 2007- 2010, but Dirk was always putting up huge numbers.
He didn’t come out of nowhere….. the Mavs had won 50 games for 11 straight seasons.
With the exception of Shaq…..Dirk beat every other superstar in the post season at least once including Kobe, Tim Duncan, Kevin Garnett, Lebron, Dwayne Wade, Kevin Durant, Tracy McGrady, Steve Nash….etc
Everyone talks about Ron Artests' three, but nobody mentions the fact that without Sasha Vujacic, two free throws wouldn't have been made that sealed the deal for the Lakers. They were up by four with 11 seconds left and no real chance for a Celtics comeback.
He had to make BOTH just to prevent a game tying possibility

Also a big stake in that 2016 finals was that, if that the Cavs lost, LeBron would've lost 3 straight finals 2014, 2015, 2016
I think the 2020s has been great so far, what about it has been rough? Suns/Bucks, Warriors/Celtics, Lakers/Heat have all been extremely close
This whole nba finals and the Super Bowl started with a collage basketball championship and that is the National Championship Game
2011 all the way for me (obviously). 2016 i can't bring myself to like as much because of LeBron stans. The 2011 Mav run was special and i do love how now people try to downplay it when back then everyone was talking so much shit about that team

2016 and 2013 is right behind it. Two best finals of the 2010’s
2014 finals was like watching seniors in highschool beat up on 8th graders
Watching this made me realize just how many rings bron could've had 😕
putting 2014 at 9th is legit a disgrace. that series is amazing to watch even as a neutral fan

2011 series was better than 2010. It had moments forever remembered either Dirk’s heroic game 2 comeback lefty lay up, high arching 3 in game 5 or lebron became the frozen one. Dirk didn’t shoot well and neither did Kobe but Dirk had moments.
i love how the ranking flip flopped until the top 5
for me, 2011 was really interesting. Lets review the entire 2011 playoff rounds.
-First Round:
#1-Chicago Bulls vs #8 Indiana Pacers: I think everyone remember Rose in his prime time, also with some role players like Kurt, Brian, Luol(who had a 16pts avrg in the playoffs); While pacers 8 seed team was...shit? the indiana next franchise player PG was a rookie(and was 6pts avrg in the offs), i can"t remember a single star name there aside danny. Chicago in 5 with one of the most strange 1° seed teams in the decade.
#2-Miami Heat vs #7 Philly 76ers: The miami ultimate big3 vs the role players team, they had iguodala and holiday in his 2° season, i used to like this team. Miami in 5
#3-Boston Celtics vs #6 NY Knicks: This Celtics Team was in the paper, way better then the Bulls, the champions KG, Allen and Pierce, Shaq and Jermaine, Chris Paul Brother, West(not the clutch one) vs Carmelo and Stoudemaire, was a joke this series with boston in 4, WIPE IT.
#4-Magic vs #5 Atlanta Hawks: i really miss the early 2010's magic, but beside Dwight in his prime time, the rest is kinda okay. The hawks was a really cool team, with big al, zaza and jamal, AND THEY WON IN 6 GAMES, was the greatest series in the first round of the eastern c.
continue in the next
I’m bias cause I’m a Raptors fan but cmon the series was pre good, ik KD and Klay got injured but game 1 3 and 4 where actually pretty good games from both sides
God damn, bros started the video with Roman reigns music
Everyone talks about Ray Allen’s 3, but it doesn’t exist without Chris Bosh’s rebound and pass. And then the block to seal the game in OT. The Heat don’t win that game without Bosh.
Giannis most definitely has the best defensive play in history now. It's EXTREMELY close though.
Nah
Giannis did it in a game 6 and he wasnt down 3-1
Also he wasn’t against the team with the best record in nba history
@@elyapis3985 narrative doesn't change the play.
Chase down block on a contested double clutch lay up
Vs
A play where Giannis practically defended BOTH players on a pick n roll and blocked a lob attempt.
I was more impressed with Giannis, but again, it's EXTREMELY close.
@@3TooWonder yeah but the thing is if Giannis missed that block he still had game 7 in case he lost because he was up 3-2, lebron did that play in a do or die situation being tied with 2 minutes left in a game 7 after coming back 3-1.
Synthetic sports acknowledges the tribal chief
I can’t wait to come back to this video in 2040 to say y’all got it wrong
2011 is easily a top 3 final OF ALL TIME. The disrespect for it to not be #1 on this list is insane. It is definitely the most earned ring of recent history. Dirk and the Mavs had to go through the defending champs with Kobe, OKC (Durant, Westbrook, Harden, AND Ibaka) and then a completely stacked Heat team with the big 3. The storylines were insane. The aging group of Kidd, Marion, Peja, Terry, and Dirk all got rings here. It was their last shot. Hell, game 2 of that series is one of the greatest comebacks of all time, let alone in a finals series. I know people love their Golden State bandwagon, but 2011 deserves the top spot.
I don’t think you can seriously say that a final where normally what would be the best player in the final effectively is effectively absent for no discernible reason is a top 3 final of all time. 2016 is cleanly the best final in the 2010s, no contest. You’re entitled to your opinion, though.
@@ClareAmel You realize that, even without Lebron, Wade and Bosh were both considered top 5 players at that time? On the ESPN ratings for the 09-10 season, they have Lebron #1, Wade #3, and Bosh #4. Dirk is #9 for reference. I have no idea how beating a team with 3 players who were all considered top 5 the season before cannot be the greatest final of the 2010s, not to mention of all time. Lebron playing subpar does not diminish that; they would have been favorites to win without him. Even without him, the Heat would have been favorites to win.
For context of how insurmountable that was back then since most people don't remember; that is the equivalent to a team in modern NBA having Jokic, Luka, and Giannis. It is fucking out of this world. Even if one doesn't show up, you'd still expect them to win. This is EASILY why it's the best of the 2010s and competes for one of the best finals ever.
Then you have to factor in the storyline that was present. Dirk and the Mavs had to beat some of the most stacked teams and arguably had one of the most difficult runs to the finals ever. I'm not positive, but I remember a video saying that the number of All-Stars the Mavs had to beat to win their chip is the most ever in a playoff run. The whole country aside from Miami wanted the underdog Mavs to win and they were MASSIVE underdogs. Not to mention the insane games themselves, again, Game 2 is a 15 point comeback for the Mavs to win with Dirk getting the final 7 or 9. I'm sorry man, but there is no logical way this isn't the best of the 2010s and, imo, a top 3 all time.
@@Prodigial 2011 Mavs had one of the best postseason runs of all-time, but the 2011 Finals matchup itself wasn't that great.
@@the757general2 Game 2 is probably one of the best finals games ever, what are you talking about? Down 15 in the 4th quarter with 7 mins left. Even besides game 2, the games were all entertaining.
2010s was weak af in terms of finals looking back, like there were only like 3-4 good finals. Also Bron fans overrate 2016 massively, it was a very good performance but the warriors really underperformed especially steph, bogut was injured after game 5, and the only reason it's so hyped up is because the cavs were down 3-1 to a team that literally came back from 3-1 the series before.
