Sir, how can our boys think of IIT when we give pass to all from 1st standard to 9th standard irrespective of their performance and attendance.
In private schools TN govt allows teaching 10 th standard syllabus in 9 th standard itself. No CEO takes action against private schools for the past 3 decades. In South India ,Tamilnadu is the only state not having entrance exam for engineering, agriculture etc. We are definitely afraid of competition and competitive exams. In private schools they teach 12 th syllabus in 11 th standard. T. N government remains blind to this. Without knowing basic calculus how can a student understand higher level calculus. First we have to correct ourselves before blaming others.

Why is Congress taking help from IIT Prashant Kishore
I agree with him despite being a Tamil Brahmin. My relatives attended IIT only by coaching classes from 9th std to 12th Std. So urban middle class family could easily get into coaching classes. In South Korea they tried to provide after-school coaching by govt itself. Still govt could not compete with private coaching. Students do suicide. In china college entrance exam survey still urban has more privelage than rural. China banned coaching. People in South Korea and china don't want to have children due to fear of expensive coaching classes. Even public school are good quality and free. Still this problem. Coaching classes,extra classes should not be encouraged in India. If education becomes distant from most people we can not groe. India needs industrialisation. Small ,small industries to give employment for masses. Weneed to focus on stem and stem ahould be accessible to all.

When that happens, naturally selective colleges like IIT or IISC won't be given that much importance. Already, most of the talented & successful people from India last decade studied - not from IIT. Correct, Merit should be the only thing that decides admissions to IIT and MBBS colleges. Such an entitled fool spewing nonsense and bringing his hatred of Brahmins. He is not even aware of IIT but he feels he has been denied admission there. Mercifully IIT and Medical degrees at many places are still decided on merit not on reservation. If you want to compete with the brightest for IIT and MBBS degrees, first bring yourself up to that level. As long as you rely on reservations and handouts, you will have less chances of getting there.

There is OBC/SC reservation in all IITs.
When an OBC tamilian writes IIT exam, he is competing with OBCs from other states, not against brahmins/ upper castes.
Same way, when an SC tamilian takes IIT exam, he is competing with SCs from other states, not with Brahmins/Upper castes.
So, what he should be lamenting about is the low standard of education in TN that makes them unable to compete even with other reserved category students from other states!!!

Neet is bad, and it should be removed. Also education standard should be improved in all schools along with syllabus. We have to move forward from reservation and give reservation only for deserving students who are economically & financially backward. These reservation should also be given to private institutions.
Merit is the term used during British times when they were ruling India. Remember, only after independence in Tamil Nadu got education because of breaking the merit matters.
Senthil an Ias officer is ignorant of the fact his own party man Veerappa Moily introduced Common Entersnce Test both for Medical/ Dental/Engineering/ Agriculture in Karnataka.When the performance of the students in Government schools was poor first thing he did was train the 11& 12 th std teachers by IISC . These teachers showed a marked improvement in teaching and increase in students cracking CET and subsequent enterance into medical and Engineering colleges.

State board இல் செய்யும் முதல் தவறு - ஏன்? எதற்கு? எப்படி? என்று கேள்வி எழுப்பி புரிந்து படிக்க தெரிவது இல்லை. Syllabus is same everywhere, only thing is we should understand and go deep inside the portion to understand that topic.
Merit இருப்பதினால் "அய்யர் அக்ரஹாரம்" என்று கூறுகிறீர்கள் அல்லவா, IIT இல் reservation காரணமாக எத்தனை "அய்யர்கள்" சேர முடியாமல் வெளி வருகிறார்கள் தெரியுமா??? Reservation இருப்பதினால் தான் (நீங்கள் தாழ்த்தப் பட்டவர்கள் என்று கருத படும் ஆட்கள்) வெகு எளிதில் IIT கு செல்கிறார்கள்.

We cant compete against china if we dont have merit based institutes like IIT. Look at the R&D output of countries we are competing against. and the kind of institutes and entrance exams they have. Removing TNPCEE in 2006, degraded the quality of anna university. If we keep removing the high bars set my entrance exams, you cant match the high bar that is set by other countries.
People who are less fortunate when it comes to education should stop feeling jealous comparing themselves to upper class who obviously have a headstart. But see how they can levelup. If you really want to help students of your community, start a free coaching class for those students. Dont start a politcally motivated fight to remove the exam itself. Disgusting

IITs are recognized as the best technical institutes from India and very respected by the top Universities in the world, like MIT, and the best companies, like Alphabet/Google.
If conditions in India are favorable (which is what Modi is trying to create), then these “best in India” will stay and benefit India as Nehru intended when IITs were founded.
Reservations do not create favorable circumstances to these “best” IIT graduates, if these best happen to be Iyers and Iyengars.
How is this the fault of merit-based and need-blind IIT JEE?
The most selective institutes in America (MIT, Stanford, Caltech) are very difficult to get into like the IITs, as they have very few seats with the best from all over the world (including the best from IIT), applying.
That is the nature of competition in the real world wrt the best organizations in the world.
They cannot be doling it all to lesser people based on social justice alone.
How as a IAS officer you do not understand this fundememtal thing?
