I just adopted a star in the St Joseph Constellation in the name of my dear Mother. ♥♥
The cathedral in my home town--San Jose, CA--is St. Joseph's. I felt it was important to buy a star from the constellation of St. Joseph. I bought a star for my brother, Steve. He left us too soon.
Today while walking through the old town of geneva, I decided to take peek inside the Cathedral of Saint Peter. I saw a new part of the church I don’t remember visiting before, the Chapel of Maccabees. Upon seeing it I instantly recognized that the ceiling was painted in the same time period as the St Joseph chapel in Lalande. It was breathtakingly beautiful. I’ve been a patreon and supporter of yours for years, but it was at that moment that I realized how incredible it is you are restoring the chapel at Lalande for so many generations to come. Seeing that beauty first hand really helped me to understand what a service to humanity it would be to preserve and restore such a rich piece of history. I adopted a star in memory of my beloved late grandmother Susan, today is her birthday.

Thanks for the opportunity to adopt a star. My mother died in December 2022. She always wanted to visit France, especially Paris but, for various reasons, she never did. Her birthday was the 14th. of July and her only dream was, to take part in the parade and the parties on that special day in France. "Everyone will celebrate my birthday with me" she always mentioned with a smile. She was a very talented taylor, loved couture and high heels, which she wore till her 80ies.
Now a part of her memory is in France at the best place I can imagine.

So perfect that you had Saint Cecilia, my late husband and soulmate was passionate about cathedrals and chapels, any time we passed one we'd stop and look it over. Some of my fondest memories are doing that with him. Even as a young boy it was one of his favourite things to do. And to top it off music was his life, as well as his profession. This was such a perfect way to honour him, and my love for him. I hope to see the chapel one day, and his star. I hope you get all you need to renovate everything possible. Your restoration of the chapel is obviously satisfying for you and many friends. It is truly a jewel of decorative painting. I am sure the former owners are pleased too. I won't exclude "Henri" when thinking of them. It would be wonderful if you had a booklet on the chapel's architectural significance and history. The nearby village must also be pleased. What a beautiful place for them should they wish a special wedding or baptismal venue. You must be increasing their goodwill with every improvement.

Poor Tonton Stephen down with the flu. I can empathize since I came down with it on 1 December and it hit me so hard I was in hospital for three days. Much better now thank goodness. Always sad to see Gerry leaving Lalande but know he will be back soon. Of course, back to the work in the chapel, it is fascinating to see the progress being made on the vault. Thank you so much for getting that amazing footage.

Please let the amazing artisans working on the Chapel know how much we appreciate them allowing you to share their brilliant work with us. I am awe struck by how stunning the chapel paint work is - the number of patterns and colors. Then there are the columns and statuary. Knowing how the gorgeous art work of so many other 19th century churches and chapels in France has been lost, it is very clear how important saving the Chapel of Lalande's interior painting is. At some point in the future, everyone's efforts to save the chapel will be celebrated as preserving an important part of France's patrimony and of western art. Bravo to everyone for helping restore and preserve so much beauty for untold future generations. Hope your Uncle feels much better. The rest of you stay well. A very happy birthday to Philip's mom. I adopted a star in honor of my father from St.Felix because he saved many cats over the years and the patron saint of pets seemed fitting. We recently lost him after a long battle with dementia and an auto immune blood disorder. He was bed ridden for the last 4 years. My father was most proud of designing the landing gear of the LEM and working to bring back Apollo 13.
