  • Many of us grew up and live in a world where our significance is determined by how well we performed in school and around the community and how well we behave. Any action or behaviour contrary to expectations attracts emotional rejection and physical pain.
Onesmus Mboya was expected to always be a good boy. These expectations followed him into adulthood. The trauma of having to grow up and live in a world where he had to prove his significance would explode in his later years. This writer, father, and unplugged seeker shares his story of the burden of childhood trauma and how he’s dealing with it.

God bless you Mr. Onesmus, you have conformed to me that it is important to be true to you,. society, peer pressure and family can drive into something that they themselves want for you but they will not be there to ride it with you. Thank you Sir

The African culture conundrum; to fit in or not. To create an authentic life based on personal strengths, goals and ambitions or to fall in place, do what your told, how you are told to do it and enjoy alignment with society at the expense of your soul's satisfaction. Thank you for your vulnerability.

I hope and pray he gets peace. As they say, the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.
It is an enlightening talk. Each one of us must match to the beat of our own drum.

What is the story here? May we see a picture of that bed under a tree in Kilifi? Who was taking care of your kids? Sorry, women do not have the luxury to walk out, borrow money from friends and take a vacation from life.

I find it whinny. What's wrong with expectations and standards? Sounds like excuses to me. what is the pain here? And you will do it again and again if you don't own up.

There’s something about his ATT I don’t like … full of excuses… These are the kind of ppl who will find excuse for just about anything… he plays the victim card too much … not my cup of tea … there’s completely no reason in that story to get you to depression … clearly the wife couldn’t put up … I’ve dealt with ppl of this character they’re super annoying…
