Launched in June 2015, GuitarforHISGLORY is dedicated to the worship guitar community. We pray these resources help you think less about tone and technique and more about worshiping our Lord Jesus Christ! - Jak na to + styl
A couple things: 1) I donât change settings on the overdrives at all during this video. The varying levels of gain are from picking dynamics. 2) Every now and then Iâll add a boost or compressor on these; itâs typically during the really big parts.
Above good guitar tone and having fun with gear, my prayer is that you would, maybe for the first time, hear the truth about Jesus Christ, the holiness of God, your condition apart from Jesus Christ and consider what those things mean for your life. Jesus is the Son of God. He lived, died and rose from the grave. There is no other name by which we can be saved. Repent of your sins. Abandon all hope in your good works. Put your faith and trust in Jesus Christ and you will be saved. Reach out to me if you have questions and we'll go over the Scripture together.
Amazing job on this. Either one of these pedals would do just fine on any pedalboard! I love them both, but ultimately went with the Superbolt eventhough the Kilt is superb. Kudos brother and great demo video.
Glorious tone and playing. Thanks for sharing.
Is your boost before or after the drive? I love this superbolt sound and considering replacing my moonshine for it. God bless you dude!
@@waytogotimbo Hello there! Boost is after. God bless you, brother!
Itâs kinda rare to hear guys talk about the purpose of worship guitar. Thereâs not a lot of focus there. Subscribed because of your exhortation surrounding salvation. Beautiful, man. And great tones as well!
Matthew, it saddens me that itâs rare.
@@GuitarforHISGlory I understand. But we can make that difference. đ and it starts with just telling people about the Jesus, and letting the Holy Spirit do His work.
Love the super bolt. Feel like it doesnât get mentioned enough. Just got the kilt so glad I came across this video! Thanks đđœ Great playing!
Personally i think the Kilt just merged so amazingly together with the delay and reverb! The absolute winner in my opinion.
Way to go brother! Praise the Lord! đđ»đ„
Could not make up my mind!!!! I have had a Timmy and a Morning Glory for years, so I just bought both of these! Cant wait to see how they sound with my Gretsch. Thank you for such a clean and polished demo!
Hope it was helpful. đđ»
Sounds great đ„đ„đ„đ„
Love the Kilt, would like to try the Superbolt some time.
I loved the superbolt â€ïž
Iâve had the superbolt for 6-7 years and itâll never ever leave my board.
Both are great, the kilt stick out with its brightness but the overtones that the super bolt has manâŠ. Wow⊠Having both on anyoneâs board would be a blessing either way đ đđ»
Another amazing video Troy! I would love to see you do another one of these with your Protein and Sidecar. Maybe even add in your boost. Thank you for all the assistance and ideas that you bless us with to enhance our ministries!
I run both on my board and switch one out for my morning glory v4 it just matters on the set of songs on a given Sunday. Great video
This sounds great! Thanks for sharing. I have the Superbolt and I love itBut I will say, the kilt definitely fits better in the mix
Love this channel. So happy your doing these videos that are fun but most importantly Jesus Centered đ„°
You might have convinced me to give the Superbolt a try!
I love Super Bolt đđđđ
They are different for sure, but either are amazing.
bro, great video. killer tones all the way through. personally, i really love the Superbolt. one of my favorite drives. also, if youâre able to pick up a V1 Kilt at some point, theyâre great for the extra volume with the boost side. itâs a really killer boost.
Thanks for the kind words. I actually have a V1 as well. Just havenât rearranged the board to make room. đ
I use the super bolt as a stage 1/boost for my Tele, and it is amazing! Itâs overtones and character is unmatched. I find that it gets pretty hairy in the higher settings with my Tele, but need to try it on some humbuckers once I get some!
I keep coming back to this video to hear the music beyond the pedals⊠man whenever this album comes out or whatever it is youâre making itâs going straight to my playlist cos these are among my favourite versions of these songs Iâve heard. Mercy is more and yet not I? Defo a few others I havenât worked out but I think those two are possibly inâŠ
Living hope too?? After yet not IâŠ

Kilt V2 sounds like it was helping your eq with more mid randge. The Superbolt was definitely brighter sounding. Both sound great. I have both.
I hit like for sharing the gospel, but the rest was great too. Thanks!
First gear review with a Christian message Iâve ran through⊠love it subscribed! â€
The Superbolt sounds like there is ever so slightly a bit more going on tonally. Both sound great and similar enough that I'd be happy with either.
I'm done comparing the two. I'm just in awe of your playing technique and tone!
Thanks for the kind words, William.
I can hear your touch in heaven, so good! Question for you, blue or red on the video ?
I currently have the morning glory v4 and the moonshine and love how they sound but I think I want to give the superbolt another go.
Tenho Morning Glory V4 tambĂ©m e estou procurando um drive de segundo estĂĄgio, segundo a sua experiĂȘncia, qual vocĂȘ me indicaria?
Both are good they have their own characteristics well it depends to the dynamics and feel of the song on how you to engage the pedal.
By the way very nice comparison, well done bro. To God be the glory :)
Couldnât agree more. Great pedals. đ
Questions:
1. Do you think these two pedals are enough for the worship context?
2. What would be your first stage?
Yeah I just really feel more at home with the Kilt tone. Just keeps the chimeyness alive and it has just great clarity even getting super dirty.
Well said!
Based on your comment about the output level of the kilt being low, would you recommend I put the kilt before or after a Protein overdrive?
Does the superbolt pair well with the morning glory? I agree that the kilt does sound wimpy in volume.. was wondering if it's better to pair my morning glory with a superbolt instead.. need your thoughts on this..
They pair amazingly well together, in my opinion. đđ»đđ»
The Kilt on fuzz mode is almost too loud haha. I'm surprised you're saying it's too quiet.
What's song is that in 20 minutes? perfect a lot
What song is 21:08? it sounds familiar but I can't place it. The Kilt with this song sounds super phat
Youâve never heard it. Itâs a new arrangement of a hymn weâve been working on. đđ»
Amen
hey, Ive been a watcher for a long time now, but I just stumbled across this particular video and at minute 17:52, Im trying to get that trail of reverb and delay mixed in with that "feedback" kindas. Do you have what settings or effect helps make that possible? I saw something abt the morbius, what kind of modulation produces that nice trail without being too washy.
Thatâs what happens when you mix a big reverb and delay together. đđ»
How are you liking the Ax FX over other amp modelers youâve been trying? I will say this video sounded the best out of everything youâve used in the past.
It has blown me away. Best tone and software out of all the units to this point. So happy with it!
Are you using them at Unity? Does these settings don't break up too much your input in your interface/DAW or you're just using a PAD there? I love these and I've been using them as loud as you but these settings break up my interface quite a lot, considering I can't get them to be at unity, plus, the fact that the amps (real amps and dual iridium) have to be sooooo little in volume for these to work... :(
Definitely not at unity and no issues with the interface. Seems like the solution on your end would be to reduce the input gain on your interface. đ€·đ»ââïž
What amp/amp pedal do you use? Awesome tone by the way. I'm thinking about a kilt, right now my only drive is a JHS double barrel, but I want to get a hard clipping drive for lead lines.
I was problem using the AXE FX III for an amp at this time.
WOW man you always have such great tone!!! I've been out of the P&W scene for longer than I'd like; what are the tunes you were playing when you started demoing the Superbolt?
Hey, Matt! Been a while, brother. I hope you're well. Those are guitar parts for a couple new arrangements for some hymns we've been working on. All the tracks are recorded; we just need to have them mixed and then they'll be ready for release. I used the scratch tracks for the first two songs.
@@GuitarforHISGlory oh wow ok!!!! That's awesome man!!! I can't wait to hear the finished product!!!!
Your tone is amazing. Might be an unpopular opinion but I liked the kilt over the superbolt. I have a question, you donât donât stack your drives, but would stacking a superbolt with a MG sound good? Or should stacking be two light overdrives to make that second stage drive sound ?
The MG and the Bolt sound glorious together. Done that many times. đŻ
Also stacking MG with Kilt is awesome (G1 up, G2 down). I think I like that better than MG or Kilt high gain modes alone.
Can you do a tutorial on know you will? The new hillsong song? Would be super stoked if you could help with that!
I haven't been keeping up on the new stuff lately for various reasons. Sorry, brother.
@@GuitarforHISGlory No worries! You do what you got to do brother! Do know that you have been a blessing in my life as I try to go down this path of elec for God's glory. I think I can speak for a lot of people here when I say that you're the best!
@@IsaacKChoi Thanks for the kind words, brother.
Thanks for always giving the glory to Jesus and proclaiming His reconciliation through the Gift of grace...for the volume how about an pinnacle deluxe, plexi drive or an crunchbox?đ€·đŒââïž
Hey there. All glory be to Christ! Concerning the volume, I just use a boost when necessary.
Sounds great. Wondering if youâre running your verb and delay through an FX loop or inline?
Always inline.
@@GuitarforHISGlory Gotcha. Itâs sounded like you were running in-line. Thanks
Hey Troy, great video as always. I have both of these on my board and live them. Are the knob settings in the pedal images the actual settings?
Yep!
@@GuitarforHISGlory thanks brother. Happy Thanksgiving. I appreciate you.
@@chrispost5275 Thank for you that, Chris. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well, brother.
what effect on the helix approximates to superbolt and kilt?
I use the OCD and Timmy.
Killer tones. Lots of JHS and Brown comments. Makes me a proud KC guy :)
Hi and God bless!!!
Have you had any experience with the Morning Glory?
Yep! Lots. Awesome pedal. Iâd be really happy with that as a low gain alternative to the Protein or Lightspeed.
@@GuitarforHISGlory
Thanks for taking the time to answer. God bless you!!!
How about the morning glory? Iâm planning to put one on my board. Or should i just get the kilt?
Morning glory is really good have it on my board and the superbolt
I have the morning glory as my first OD and then my kilt as the 2nd. They work incredibly well together! Iâd go for it. 100%
@@davidgude6476 I have the morning glory superbolt and moonshine thinking about selling moonshine for kilt
I agree with @David Gude. The MG is awesome. â€ïž
I have the opposite problem with my kilt. I have to run my kilts volume at 9-10oclock or itâs just way to much đ€ I do have the V1 tho
HmmâŠI have a V1 as well and find its volume to be very low. Maybe you have the ONE that doesnât have the issue. đ€Ł
@@GuitarforHISGlory itâs odd. Iâve had several v1âs and v2âs over the years and until one of the last v2s I got I noticed the output issue so much that I thought I got a broken one. I even reached out to JHS. But I do remember past ones having much more output. đ€·ââïž
superbolt or double barrel v4 ?
can you share your presets in gfi specular tempus?
Hello there. I sell them here: GuitarforHISGLORY.com/shop
Hello man!!! Impressive!!, I have a PODGO with MG. Kilt and Angry Charlie are coming, any recommendations you can give me?
Yep. Turn the knobs until it sounds good. đ Donât overcomplicate it. Order them POG -> Charlie -> Kilt -> MG.
@@GuitarforHISGlory Oh men God bless you, but is not a POG is a Line 6 PODGO lol, Tnks for you answer,
Greetings from Colombia
Just hearing a lot about the kilt v2 not having a lot of volume, would you say the same about the v1?
V1 does not have that problem. The Case Study Effects Aspen solves the issue altogether. Amazing pedal!
So I have a lightspeed overdrive, and I was wondering does a lightspeed pair well with a super bolt and kilt if those three are in this order: LS, SB, KT?
The Lightspeed pairs well with everything, in my opinion. đ
Which order you run these two?
I never stack them together, so itâs inconsequential; however, the Kilt is after the Bolt.
Man that sounds sick, I bought the superbolt based almost entirely on this video and I am loving it so far! Did I hear his mercy is more near the start?? Might not have been it but itâs a very similar progression and groove and it sounds like a banging arrangement and I love it!
Glad to hear the video was helpful, bro! Yep-thatâs an arrangement weâve been working on. Just waiting on a few final touches before releasing it. Loving the way it turned out!
@@GuitarforHISGlory amazing! Itâs a great song, and Iâm so glad to see a version with an arrangement like this. All the other versions Iâve seen have been a little bit more tame and less typical of CCM/P&W, and thatâs not a bad thing at all. However, I do love what youâve done with it and that style of arrangement could open a lot of other churches up to the idea of using the song. Good luck man, God bless!
Whatâs that song at the 12:32 mark?
czcams.com/video/4wYn0jrQAlk/video.html
Does anyone know the names of the first two songs?
They are renditions of some well-known hymns that we're working on right now. I used the scratch tracks to play over.
@@GuitarforHISGlory Awesome! They sound amazing!!
The real question, Troy, is superbolt or Benson preamp?
Next video? đ They sound so similar in some cases.
What's the name of the song at 7:16?
Hello there. Itâs our version of His Mercy is More. We recorded and released it: czcams.com/video/7hWS5CxKJU8/video.html
@@GuitarforHISGlory Thank you so much!
are you going stereo here? somethin sounded a little weird with headphones on like they were out of phase or maybe one side was set different than the other.
Hey there! I mentioned that I run stereo in the beginning of the video. Nothing is out of phase-just my normal setup. AC30 left, Twin Reverb right. So, yes, they are set different on purpose. You also might be hearing the Destroyer setting on the Mobius. It gives the signal a lo-fi sound, but thatâs the point. Have a good one, bro!
@@GuitarforHISGlory thanks for the info! Iâm a great listener lol
@@onixtheone Sounds like it! I'm definitely not a nuance a guy. I grip it and rip it. Haha.
@@GuitarforHISGlory my sarcasm didnt translate through type? LOL
just saw your beard and made me think that one day youâll stop making videos đ„ș
Thatâs true. This life is but a vapor. Iâll continue making them for as long as the Lord allows.
I take it youâll pick superbolt over kilt
It wasnât about which one to pick. I use both and this video demonstrates how I use them.
I noticed a high-pitched squeal coming through my monitors. Is anybody else hearing this.
Youâre probably hearing the feedback that results from running high gain into delay and reverb.
