It's making me have a small hideous smile about these comments. Yes, people in Chennai don't keep up or maintain things. But guess what, everything is changing. When was the last time you've been to Chennai? You get Rs.500 fine for spitting, or 2 month jail time. It's a pretty strict rule and same goes with a lot of things. We, Chennai residents, have changed ourselves to make us look good. Please, people from North, don't ruin our city thinking it's still the same. We've changed, time for you to look us from a different perspective.
The worst air port ever. There is not single canteen that could sell food for foreigners. All passengers are compelled to eat dosai, itly and vadai for exorbitant price. It is untidy and the smoking area lacks proper sanitation and even ash trays and worst of all filthy. Floor tiles are broken and in certain areas water leaks from the roof. Mobile phones with square plugs cannot be charged. The areas out side the air port is filthy, artless and tasteless. The assessment is that it reveals the primitive culture of the Tamils who do not want to progress. It stands as symbol of shame for the Tamils and Tamil Nadu.
+Robert Mathew I understand what you're saying. Chennai airport is shitty and what you said about the airport is very true but you can't disrespect Tamil culture like that. Tamil Nadu has a rich heritage much like the rest of India. Chennai deserves much better. The airport was a total fail and AAI is planning to build another airport in 2020 when the current airport is expected to get saturated

The thing I don't get is that they only add 2 gates to the international terminal and 7 for the domestic terminal..
