I saw with my own eyes Chennai international airport hiring hitmen using catapult to get rid of the crows in the departure area. I was surprised that they did not broke any of the glass panes. This happened before 2019 on my return trip.

Chennai lost its position to Bangalore, Hyderabad and Ahmedabad.
As chennaiite will love it when we are back as the third busiest airport in India and having high number of foreign carriers fly to Chennai. I envy Bangalore. Hope the political clout and Air India do justice for Chennai

I have a question, for the most part whenever I traveled to and from Chennai, all the aircrafts take off and land in the same heading as they are in this video-departing away from st Thomas mount. But recently all my flights landing in Chennai landed in the opposite direction, on the same runway, towards st Thomas mount, the approach to the runway wasn’t through kathipara. Any idea why this happened?
Let me explain.
An aircraft always flies in the direction opposite to the wind. Usually during summer from April or so till September, runway 25 is used as planes landing from the east which is over the kathipara side as the wind blows from the westerly direction
During the other months wind shifts to the east during monsoon, so aircraft land from the west which is over the Pallavaram side.

Does Chennai airport have just one runway? And it looks very short and narrow. Is there no scope for expanding the length of the runway or even adding an extra one.
We have two runways. The one you see in the video is the primary runway. I have also taken landing and takeoff of aircraft operating from the secondary runway😃 You can watch it, it’s under the title of Chennai Airport crosswind landing.
