My husband has afib & slow heart rate for which he had a pacemaker. 10:years later, the pacemaker battery is about dead & he stopped long ago looking for remedies for his afib! Until we found Hawthorn berry! 1 tablet of 550 mg each day, he has zero afibs!! Regular dosing also controls the slow heart rate! I just wish we had known about this herb 10 years ago!

Hi Rosalee. Only recently found you, and SO happy I did!! I only found this video after the flowers had gone. I would like to know if drying and using JUST the leaves will be worth doing, or now waiting for the berries? My issue is that my heart rate "easily" raises. There are other things in play, and I am herbal teaing it up big time - I have dandelion leaves, nettle leaves, plantain leaves, and did one early batch of dandelion root as well. I use great mullein, and burdock root, and I also just did two batches of the lilac flowers! All that aside, hope to get your view on just using the hawthorn tree leaves for now! PS - we never even knew we had some of those on our ten acres!! We sure know a LOT more about the absolute treasure, our ten acres with three acres of old growth bush on it DOES have!!! Thank you in advance for your insight!! PS - we live in north central Alberta, Canada.

Hi Rosalee, I enjoyed your video, here's my rather long story for anyone going through the same thing, I have been on BP Medication for years for High Blood Pressure, in the last year my doctor has switched tablets twice, was getting symptomatic cough when laying down at night and with the most recent switch I have developed leg cramps in the night, every night! never suffered leg cramps before only occasionally, I also found out recently that I have an Aortic Aneurysm in the Ascending Arch of the heart, not large but do need to keep my BP down. Desperately wanting to find an alternative to Pharma Drugs I did some research and read about Hawthorn and its BP lowering action so wanted to try it, I purchased some Hawthorn Berry 565mg Capsules some time ago but they have been sitting in the cupboard as I wanted to wait until I spoke with the GP before using them , I did make the mistake of taking 1 capsule whilst still on the BP Meds and it did drop my BP too low, So I took the plunge and have now stopped my BP Meds and low and behold my cough has decreased and leg cramps have stopped , but now just taking the Hawthorn and starting off slowly to watch the effect I'm not sure of how many of the capsules I need to take, bottle says 1 tablet 3-4 times a day, so far I am up to 3 capsules and my BP is still high especially in the mornings.
I would like to ask how long in general would it takes for the Hawthorn to take effect, ?? funny that it was quite quick to react with the BP Med but now on its own not doing much, I really don't want to go back to taking Drugs but also don't want for my BP to stay too high for too long.
Do you think the Tea would work better.?

Unwanted side effects with hawthorn are rare but not impossible. If you think you're having a medical emergency, please get attention. If symptoms are mild then I would try some deep breathing and meditation to calm the nervous system. I hope you're feeling better soon.

Is Hawthorne leaf tea effective against shingles?

People more often look to St. John's Wort as a shingles protocol. If you do a search on my channel you'll find a video for it.

Will Indian heartthorn work the same ? I live in south Texas zone 9.

You might be referring to Rhaphiolepis indica, which is an entirely different plant than Crataegus spp. They do not have the same gifts as far as I know.

Possibly! Many hawthorn's are worked with similarly, but it's a good idea to get a botanical ID if you can.

DO YOU THINK THAT HAWTHORN LEAVES ON TREES THAT HAVE NEVER YET PRODUCED FLOWERS OR BERRIES WOULD HAVE STRONGER MEDICINAL PROPERTIES THAN LEAVES WOULD HAVE IF THE TREE WAS PRODUCING FLOWERS AND BERRIES ?

@@HerbsWithRosalee OK, thank you. I have 3 Washington Hawthorn I got from the Arbor day foundation several years ago they are small , maybe 6 - 7 feet tall but I've never seen flowers or berries on them, I just thought I'd make a tea with a few leaves and then I was thinking about how some plant parts are preferred for medicine before the flowers appear so i thought maybe since the trees did not have flowers or berries that the leaves might have stronger medicinal properties.
