Hey Swimmers - I believe that EVERYONE can swim without fear and with 100% confidence. We just need to maintain our comfort levels and learn to eliminate fear. You see, it is our engrained psychology of fear that is preventing us from learning to swim / learning to tread water, it is not our inability physically or incorrect technique.

I agree! Treading water was a daunting thing to learn til I saw this!
This is how I lost weight on my thighs 😂! I would swim 6 laps slowly and practice treading water like this. I would float when I got tired and start again. I then started treading water like this WITHOUT using my hands. That really worked my thighs! I have a friend and her husband is in the military. He showed me how to do it with my hands behind my back just kicking 😂. I’m older and I hate running so swimming year round is my favorite exercise. Swimming is a wonderful exercise as you get older, especially if you have arthritis or joint problems. If I’m in pain, I swim and the pain goes away or it’s much better.
I totally agree and thank you for sharing! What an incredible story and so glad you found the beauty of the water and its healing properties on the body and mind!
@@caribeswim Thank you! I learned to swim at the age of 45😂. Learning to to float and treading water was my goal. I wasn’t scared of water just never had the opportunity to learn.
Wow, i never thought someone could explain to me how to tread in minutes, thanks!

@@caribeswim thank you! i’m most fearful when i mess up the breathing portion. i think i start to freak out when i get water in my mouth or push air out my nose too quickly before i’m ready for my next breath?
Hi Bri - that can certainly be the case. We really do not need to be exhaling air from our nose or mouth at the early stages of learning to breathe. Most instructors WILL teach TO exhale but my perspective is slightly different. I think the COST of exhaling is far too great on our buoyancy so I believe we should learn how to master breathing first, then gently start introducing that technique much later in our learning or when we are 100% comfortable.

This is extremely useful. Could you please do head first and feet first sculling too. I'm teaching local children to swim in our school and most of all , I want them to survive. These techniques will save their lives.
Thank you.
Thank you for commenting and teaching kids to swim. The techniques to teach children are slightly different than those we use to teach adults - for kids, i recommend starting ALL kids who cannot swim in a Limmy's flotation vest. It has removable foam that makes the vest less buoyant as the child learns more skill.

Outside of that, if you need any further advice, we will be launching a community in the coming months that focusing on kids learning.

Hey thanks for this content. I know this depends a lot on person to person but what's the most duration that you've been able to tread using this technique?
Thank you for your comment and support of the channel. You can watch an 18 hour live stream of me using these techniques in a straight treading water session. Although my goal was 24 hours, I made it 18 hours.
They are techniques that work and ANYONE can apply, once you are 100% comfortable in the water.

@@caribeswim Yup I watched this one as well and loved it totally. The only thing I am probably weak about is the RELAX mode. Getting panicky I guess is a very common error. Trying to overcome it. Anyways, love your energy and presentation. Keep going!!!
Thank you so much for the comment and YES - relaxation IS THE KEY to learning how to swim. If we look at learning to swim as a math equation - relaxation is 80% and technique is 20%. The problem, is that most people will place the technique as 80%.
Please continue checking in as I want to help you anyway I can!
P.S. we are launching a learn to swim community in 45 days that will be VERY helpful. Keep checking back to learn more!

When I tried treading, I stayed in just one position. It seems that I can't move to reach the shallow part of the pool huhuhu. What's the technique to allow your body to go to a specific direction?
Hi Jennelynabella - thanks for your comment and welcome to the channel. Yes, part of treading water is that we do not move a lot in the water - if you are looking to move from one side of the pool to the next, I would try this technique: czcams.com/video/ikw_FT_9ff0/video.html

Thank you for your comment! Make sure to watch the entire episode here: czcams.com/video/bPd6BOhGQzc/video.html
Are you in Brooklyn Ny because I so want to learn how to tread water. I took a swim class they taught everything except that. So, although I know how to swim from one end to the other, I have to make sure im not close to the deep end.😒
Thank you for your comment and background. We are in San Juan PR - we do host retreats here and have an online community to help adults learn to swim. The truth is, EVEN if you can swim from A > B in shallow water... if you cannot do that in deep water then that program did not teach you how to swim. Swimming is when you are in control regardless of depth.
---
This IS the most common issues adults face when learning to swim. Learning how to swim technique / strokes but knowing how to be relaxed during the entire process. I recommend joining our free community - we teach you the process of how to relax that you can apply to your lessons in NY or you can restart at the beginning with our program!

I see you are talking about flutter kicks, this looks easier than egg beater kick, then why is egg beater kick for threading getting a lot of hype? Most threading tutorials I see suggests it even thought its hard.
This is a GREAT question! I believe that the community are NOT separating the difference between "Learning to Swim" & "Competitive Swimming" - I think for 95% of the community, we are looking to learn how to swim for recreation and enjoyment + survival in case of emergency. I believe the MAJORITY of instructors are from a competition background and their knowledge set is in how to teach the competitive / optimal way of doing the techniques.
---
I was a record holder at Notre Dame, National Masters Champion but MORE than that, a swim school owner for 12 years so I have the expertise of BOTH sides and through all of that experience, realized that there is a BIG difference and we need to learn what is easiest FIRST, then what is optimal [for those who want to know more].
In order, I would watch:
1. czcams.com/video/Uhp9vJyDR1o/video.html > this will teach you HOW to learn
2. czcams.com/video/bPd6BOhGQzc/video.html > this will teach you WHAT to do while learning.

Treading water for a longer period is just this technique?
Hi Ruthuel - we believe that ANY length of treading should have a basis of relaxation and this is the easiest technique to continue for a sustainable period of time. At the end of the video it also shows a simple technique of leaning more backwards - this FOR SURE is the best
@@caribeswim thank you,.I'll be back once I try it. This is very helpful.
Checking in to see if you had a chance to try?
my neutral buoyancy level is way above my ears. I kinda have to put more effort to stay afloat upright. it tires me out.
Hi Glowiever - welcome to the channel and thank you for the comment. I can understand how it may seem this way, however, nearly all adults actually are just lacking a true deep breath, prior to finding their buoyancy.
You can see the impact of this in this short video: czcams.com/users/shorts0nO-t8bvds0?feature=share
---
Begin with a Diaphragmatic breath, then we have to ALWAYS ensure more relaxation, not effort.

that's not accurate* , the reality is different , you need to understand your body and how it acts in water to use the suitable technique
