      Never owned an overlocker so was all new to me but I decided to treat myself to this model and I googled to see a nice man set up a different model was easy to thread and I cannot wait to use so pleased you liked it as I have heard some negative comments on these special buys, but it was my treat and I felt special.

    Managed to grab one of these on Thursday morning. My first overlocker! It does seem to be quite robust. Thanks for your review of it - I hadn't realised you could alter the knife position, so I'll experiment with that. Your's is the first specific S010L video I found, but there are other videos on threading Lidl Singer overlockers and the technique is identical, so they were a good find. Thanks again, Peter.

    Thanks for reviewing this. I picked one up for my 12 year old daughter for Christmas. She will be new to sewing, so I was caught between a standard sewing machine or overlocker. Decided on this as it looks better for clothing and simple items like pillows. I’ll bookmark your channel and point her here when she starts.

I cant wait till im able to get and afford a Serger due to both me and my husband losing our jobs due to the covid restrictions sewing not only has become a way for me to have serenity to get through these times but i am able to make masks for those around me also remake and sew much needed clothing for my always growing 6 boys in which 2 who are disabled. A serger would really help me in my sewing not being able to afford one and not having a sewing machine with the overlocking stitch.

    • @suzannajarvis1143
      @suzannajarvis1143 Před 3 lety

      Once I got it off I could see how it worked. I had tried almost every combination of pulling and pushing it possible I think 😂 in the end it took two of us to remove it the first time, the clip only moves slightly. I find if I push the clip underneath whilst pushing against the top front of the machine it releases the clip enough to then pull it off with both hands. Not the easiest manoeuvre but it works and it has gotten easier to do with practice.
      This model seems to be the same setup as the pro finish model so I watched a few different CZcams videos for them which has been helpful. Most of them have suggested marking the dials with a sharpie as a quick reference for use and positioning which seems like a good idea. 😊

    Have you even looked at the Jaguar machines? Especially their overlockers. They open so much more, which makes threading a real breeze.
    As to Lidl's specials ... I got there just after opening ... and the sewing machines were all gone. I swear some people are making a killing, buying out lots and selling again at even more. I want to cry. Horrid to be on such a tight budget, and then the only time I see something "affordable" ... greedy people buy them all to resell.

    I've had a mixed experience with this machine. It's the first overlocker that I've used but I do love what it can do. I have a problem with the door at the front of the machine in that the little black bar that holds it in place creeps out every single time it is opened and closed. I have to keep pushing the black hinge rod back in each time otherwise the whole thing comes out as far as the machine will allowed and the right hand side becomes detached. what a nuisance this is.

    Hi Abi,
    I bought that machine a few weeks ago and thanks to your wonderful review, I have been able to make good use of it. Unfortunately, the thread of the 2 needles is despite what I'm doing, always to loose. If I pull at the seam you can see the thread. I can't change the thread tension any higher, because the wheel is already on 9. Do you have any ideas how I could improve it.

    Hi Abi
    A big thank you for this video - I've been pondering an overlocker for ages (I use a regular sewing machine almost on a daily basis) but didn't want to spend mega bucks only to find I would not have a use for an overlocker so decided to shell out on this Lidl one last week - having seen this YT review I'm hoping I won't have cause to regret the purchase!
    As a novice user which thread combination should I be using to sew a patch to the inside knees of my grandsons school jogger bottom trousers which have been "knee'd" - would it be a 2-thread option as I don't want to use a cutter but merely secure the patch fabric (an old pair of my black leggings!) to the split area on the boys' trousers? Many thanks if you are able to help with this basic query! x

    • @AbisDen
      @AbisDen  Před 3 lety +1

      Age of thread is really about quality of thread. If you store it in a dark place, in a sealed container, then it doesnt fade or dry out. Poor quality thread is manufactured in dry conditions. I love guterman for sewing -its reasonably priced and you can use moon thread in the overlocker - i think you have maxi lock which seems to get great reviews too x Thanks for your comment - maybe other US followers can help?

      All Overlockers offer the same stitches, they all do 2,3 and 4 thread, rolled hem. Then from there, you use these to create the blind hem, the scallop, the lettuce effect. You’ll see companies state these extra stitches but it’s simply a technique they adapt from the basic stitches. If that makes sense.
