Puckering is not caused by your thread. It is caused by using dense amounts of thread with not enough stabilizer.
Thank you. Do you think tension, needle size, fabric type and thread quality play a part. I personally see that lots of different things affect puckering but i agree, stabilising well helps.
Thank you so much! I just bought this overlocker and other videos don't go straight to the point but this one does. Definitely will save and like this video for future threading❤
Thank you
You're welcome
Hi Abi, you have just saved me from going insane and chucking my overlocker out the window, which would be a shame as ive always wanted one and finally have it! The official video on this was so confusing with the green thread, im so glad I gave up on it and found yours, its was so clear. Thank you! 😊
So helpful! I haven't used a sewing machine since school (20 years!)
Wonderful! Gosh! I couldn’t manage 20 days, even just to tinker. Enjoy ✨
Have you tried the Necchi C35 creator series?
Thanks so much for all your very informative videos. I’ve learned so much over recent months. Great teaching skills. Look forward to more learning.
This machine is now sold by a different name, but every thin is the same. So glad I found this video.
Lots of brand names use the same machine under their name. It’s just a bog standard machine that many brands will label as their own.
Thank you SO much for your tutorial! when my lower and upper looper jammed, this video saved me and got my machine back up and running.
How would the janome 523h compare to the necchi q132a?
I had to check with a friend, and tbh she is disappointed ☹️ I really do like the necchi machines above the Janome and Brother machines. Even the Bernina|s Bernette aren’t a match
Thank you ! thank you ! thank you! sooooo much for this video Abi❤️

@@AbisDen I sew thick velvet fabric and my upper thread gets tangled under the fabric(where the lower thread is) I don’t know what to do, please help me I sew for a living
A walking foot would be best for velvet
I seriously considered this because I really like the overall form of just having one button to press (which shows the recommended presser foot right there). No having to look up a booklet and then select a mode button and then press three or four times, and then consult your booklet for a stitch number and enter that. No checking the display three or four times. Ergonomically, the IDEA of this is great. I don’t need a couple of dozen fancy stitches plus a Cyrillic alphabet, pretending to be 300 stitches: this would do me fine. But I keep hearing that the build quality lets it down.
I really don’t like this machine. A number of ladies have brought it in for lessons or for repair. It’s really not the best of machines. The quality of stitching is let down by the poor quality machine. I’m sorry but good on you to keep researching x
Thank you so much for this! So good to follow along to and it's taken away the fear of using my overlocker for the first time. Oh and I have a lovely little pouch too!😀
You are so welcome!
Your explanation was 100 times easier to follow than following the instructions given with this machine. I am a complete beginner and threw myself in to the deep end. You've definitely given me a lot more confidence. Thank you 😊
You are welcome!🤗 Thank You x
Great video with very useful instruction. Thank you very much! Greetings from Switzerland
Hi Abi, loving your reviews. You are a natural. Thank you so much. My question is, How is the reliability of this 3 years on? Better than singer for ploughing through layers of tweed and denim? Planning purchasing this asap 😊
It's good! I must get it out and play some more. But I don’t know if the manufacturers are still around so that worries me x
Hello there I've had my JLI Iose machine for 4 years, but only now setting it up. I'm fairly familiar with very basic sewing but each machine is different. I'm having trouble threading the bobbin. I've followed your video (thank you) and it's exactly as I've done via following the manual's instructions, but my thread is winding around the spindle that the bobbin is on underneath and not on the bobbin. I've threaded from the base hole up and out through the top hole and then placed it on the spindle winder, but the thread is under the bobbin because that's how it was threaded in order to go up through the hole and through the top one. Please can you advise as to what I'm doing wrong, as with my old machine I only had to manual wind thread around the bobbin a few times, then press the pedal and it wound the required thread on. Thanks in advance 😊
These machines aren’t the best for bobbin winding so hold the thread gently and guide it as it winds on xx
Hello Thank you so much for replying, I missed the notification so only just read it. I achieved it in the end and only just practiced a few stitches today. I would like to ask a question if you would be so kind to answer again, thank you. What I'm trying to do at the mo is that I have a summer top with one inch wid shoulder straps. It's a kind of cold shoulder top and I've been meaning to alter the straps for the past year. It's a slightly stretchy material and where the straps are sewn, they're sewn through the elasticated top part and I have caught the thread terribly. It started sewing, then almost stopped with a loud thud. When I cut it free, I noticed that the thread just gathered and I could virtually pull the strap apart from the elasticated bit. So as I am not familiar with more advance stitching through elastic, I wondered if you could offer any help please. All I wish to do is shorten the straps and then sew them. Thank you in advance xx
Aw. That sounds like a classic case of wrong needle. Try a ballpoint needle for jersey - not “ stretch “ needle x good luck x (but just check the bobbin is in the correct way too x
@@AbisDen Oh thank you so much, that's very kind of you to reply. ♥️ I tried it again 3rd time, but nope, it all got messed up, the thread from the bobbin was still in tact, but somehow, thread was wrapped around the outside of the bobbin, I don't know how it got in that state though. Also, when I practiced on some plain material, it's not thick, trying to practice using the machine, when I went to snip the thread after sewing, it left lots of thread coming from underneath, the needle was still threaded and the bobbin in tact, but somehow there were two other threads, which when I pulled they came free leaving the rest in tact ready to continue sewing. I bought Gutterman thread, but this is all new to me. As for your advice, I will look I to getting a ballpoint needle, never knew one existed as I'm such a newbie 🙄 Thank you again, much appreciated, just hope I can learn more. In the end I hand sewn the straps earlier x 😍

HELP please! Bought the S14-78 some years ago from Lidl thinking it would come in handy some day. Never used, well out of warranty. Come to use it today: light comes on, motor buzzes but nothing moves. Hand wheel will not turn. Needles are down into the mechanism - which is weird as I've not used it. Striped off the cover as per your excellent video (thank you!) removed the needles thinking they may be causing the problem - but no. The belt connecting the hand wheel and motor is trying to turn but nothing is moving although the motor is buzzing. Any suggestions please?
Frustrating 🫣 try wd40. Leave it for an hour or so and wipe it away Reapply fresh Sewing machine oil. Fingers crossed 🤞🏽 xx
@@AbisDen Oh Thank you Abi! Yes, of course, I should have thought of WD40 - will give it a try and and report back (hopefully) with good news.
I have this same exact machine. I’m using 4 threads sewing around a single thickness of flannel and it gathers slightly. I’m trying to get it to stop gathering. The differential feed is on normal and I’ve adjusted the tension dials so the stitch looks right but it still gathers slightly. I haven’t tried adjusting the presser foot pressure yet, I was going to try that to see if that helps. I think I bought this machine in 1984. Close to $500 at the time. I have taken it apart before to clean and oil, I think I will do it again soon. Any help with the reason it is gathering would be helpful thanks for showing how to open up this machine and for making these videos.
Thank you so much!!! I was so confused, this is very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!
Hello Abi. What can I do if the hook in the bobbin wheel is not timed and is way off as is not even close to pick up the thread from the needle? How can I open the bottom bit of the machine? Do I have to completely dismantle it? My daughter wants a sewing machine for her birthday and I found this one at a car boot sale - being told it works but it actually doesn’t pick up the bobbin 😔 Her birthday is on Friday and I’m up in the middle of the night trying to fix it before giving up. 😟
Happy Birthday miss thing ! I’m so sorry about all that. These machines are terrible. I put my daughter off sewing by buying poor quality machines for her when she was little. Now for my nieces and nephews, I just teach them on full scale machines and keep them interested that way x I hope she had a lovely birthday and I hope you’re okay. I feel the pain x
Superb❤ great video!
Thank you!!☺️
I just figured out how to sharpen my fabric scissors with a small whet stone! Drop the whet stone into water for one minute then draw the white side at the same angle as the blade(10°) it across the blade for about 3 to 5 minutes then do the same on the coloured side for 2 to 3 minutes........Love your videos Abi
Amazing. Thank you. I don’t like to recommend this because get the angle wrong, the scissors are broke for life 😢 I have lost scissors in my learning process. Well done to you and thank you for sharing for those who want to give it a go x
Thank you sooo much!!!! You are a rockstar!!! ❤

I have a question on a part that came off in my serger (when I was cleaning) I have a picture if I can get an email address to send to you a photo so you may be able to help me. thank you
You could send it on instagram x
You're a gem.
My 4th thread won't stay threaded ahhhhh
This is a brilliant video. Thank you. Very easy to understand and follow instructions. I am new to sewing and this video is just great!
Thank you x
I magnified and examined my Singer 2022 needles and they don't appear to be ball point?
If you compare it to another standard needle, you should see a difference. X

I typically use 1cm seam allowance

Oh it’s so old. I think I bought it 2017/8 x
What size of interfacing are you using?
Hi great video but you didn’t show which overlock stitch you selected on the stitch selector dial…. 😅❤😅
Sorry! Will do next time. Thank you for letting me know x
Interesting. That machine is identical to the BabyLock BL097 which was sold in Canada, New Zealand & Australia, currently sold as the Babylock Vibrant in North America.I have never seen it branded as anything other than BabyLock before and did a lot of searching about the model when I got mine. It is the entry level model for Babylock.
Interesting indeed. Your (US) version isn’t actually an authentic a Japanese baby lock machine. The US sewing machine factories have managed to buy the licence to use the branding on their machines. So you’ll see lots of machines that aren’t actually baby locks inside - and don’t even look like a real baby lock. Like this machine. You’ll see machines that are manufactured for brother also use the Babylock branding on the same machines which is why many people think Brother make for Babylock whereas Brother don’t actually have factories to build machines -they commission the sewing machine factories to build them for them and those factories have the license to use the same spec for other brands. It’s all so fake. 🥴
@@AbisDen By US version, do you mean the Vibrant?
Yes. Im going to investigate further to check
@@AbisDen I think the 097 was sold in Canada but not the US. It was only called the Vibrant in the US.
Seems like there’s a lot of waste with this method compared to shirting with a sewing machine and easier to get even gathering.
That’s true. I think I much prefer the sewing machine for shirring.
I am still battling with threading of the bottom looper, looking at you taking out the screws is giving me a total anxiety attack🙃
Haha 😜 we all start like that. Just go for it ! We only learn by persevering . ✨🌷
I'm a learner at this sewing lark, I bought this same machine from Aldi last time they had them in stock, I've mainly used it to do minor seam repairs and love it. Recently I was hemming some bedroom curtains and the needle broke, however I have replaced the needle but now everytime I attempt to sew my thread snaps. Can you suggest where I have gone wrong please, maybe a tutorial how to replace a needle would be helpful. I have really enjoyed your tutorial and find it very informative and helpful, thankyou.
I just bought an Eclipse (Canada), the earlier model to the Enspire. I wish you did thei demo on your Enspire. there is one part of the front cover over the looper tubes that I can't figure out.
Exactly what I was looking for, thank you so much
You are welcome!🤗
