This video shows you how to thread up a Silvercrest Sewing Machine. It’s the same principle for all sewing machines and I hope it’s helpful to you whether you’re a beginner or advanced sewer.

A very helpful video! Thanks a lot! ❤
Thank you Abi, yet again another fab tutorial x
Thank you
Thank you so much Abi you are a good teacher.
You are welcome!
Thank you for such a brilliant video. I look forward to seeing more.
😊 I am making a “your questions answered video for this machine since it is so popular!“ if you have a question, please ask in a new comment field (i don’t always see replies x )
Thanks for the useful review and clear tutorial, Really appreciated!
Thank you
Thanks Abi, great little machine at a fab price. I've had other 'silvercrest' products and always found them good value. This would be a great machine for a beginner or someone taking up sewing again or for taking on holiday. Thanks for the demo.
Totally agree! Thank you Colin.
Thank you Abi, that is a nice compact very affordable little machine with a decent set of standard features. As a first machine I think this is brilliant, it would be a lovely Christmas present for the budding sewist.
Thanks Christine x Totally agree!
Thanks for the clear and informative guide! Please do make a video for the use of the button hole foot and function, and attaching buttons too. The manual describes both but it's hard to visualise and understand 😅
Great suggestion!
Thanks a lot for the video
You are welcome 🙏🏼 ✨🪡🧵
I' M SO GRATEFUL. Your wonderful video helped me a lot. I'm a total beginner. I would love to see more videos. You explained everything very clearly. Keep teaching us.
You are so welcome!

Wow! Thank you so much! Those are back in Lidl right now and I am contemplating buying one, mostly for the overlocking function... I really loved listening to you! XX
Glad I could help! I hadn’t realised they weee back in x must make some follow up videos. Thanks for letting know x
Thank you, you're a lifesaver! I've had the machine for some time, but found it complicated. I've never used a sewing machine, but can definitely give it a go now 🥰
You're very welcome! If you struggle, come back and let me know
Your video was so helpful. Thank you 😊

Thanks for sharing this video, I was struggling with this equipment today because it always jammed, I think I might know the reason now, and will have another try tomorrow by your method! Looking forward to the new videos coming out from this machine! Thanks again!
You are welcome! And good luck x
It is £10 cheaper than when I bought mine a few months ago. So far so good. I have not used all the features yet. Still learning. I have learnt a lot from your video. Thank-you.
Nice one!
What a fantastic intro video, thank you so much! I'm planning on purchasing this machine. Would love to see the button hole foot in action.

Thank you for this tutorial! I have had the machine for several months and I have not used it yet because there is no description in the instruction in Bulgarian. With you I was able to start it. I wish you a happy 2024, stay healthy, you and your family! Greetings from Bulgaria !
And to you Dima

🙏 thank you for this very helpful video. I would love to know more about the other stitches. I bought this machine three weeks ago 👍 and it is my first sewing machine
Ooh. How so exciting. Yes. We should look at other stitches. It’s a good machine. Are you enjoying it?
@@AbisDen I am learning👍I am beginner
Thanks Abi. Please show how yo make button holes with this foot. Thanks
Hiya Abi! Loved this video just wondering how to do the overlock as I copied what you said and mine isn’t coming out with one? Thank you ! ☺️
Great video, I just bought this machine. Am interested in video on how to use double needle and how to thread double thread
Great suggestion! Thanks ☺️
I saw this today along with their cutting matt. I need a newer sewing machine but really want to start sewing canvas bags, not sure this is a good one for me, but the price is attractive. My starter singer machine is 10 years old
I wouldn’t get the cutting mat, I almost did but it’s cardboard. It’ll blunt the rotary blades straight away and won’t last weeks.
@AbisDen oh no really 😕 😅
Had a look at these today as my old hobbycraft machine is getting unreliable so may pick one up
so far so good :-)
I really wanted a Janome but as you can imagine in these times that is a no no now but hey maybe in the next year or 2 it maybe!!@@AbisDen
This video is extremely useful, thank you! I have just bought this sewing machine and it's the first time I am approaching to use one. Did you make other videos for this machine? Thanks
Glad it was helpful! I have just made another one with the buttonhole so look out for that any day xx
Thanks Abi. This is a marvellous video especially for beginners. The sewing machine however is mostly for novices who do small jobs. It is more of a toy than a proper sewing machine. I would not use this machine for any serious sewing.
It’s a good machine for any beginner or for those people who don’t have a large budget. Or just want a machine for the odd occasion.
I'll be getting my first sewing machine at 31 y.o., and it's gonna be a second hand silvercrest like the one you show here. I was starting to worry thinking that I won't be capable of making it work, but after watching this video I'm feeling way more confident. You made me feel like I had a patient and comprehensive teacher giving me my first sewing lesson hahahah Thank you Abi!
You are very welcome. I hope you have fun with it, just stay relaxed and it’ll be fun
Thanks for the detailed video 😊
I just got this machine few days ago as I’m about to begin my sewing journey.
I wonder if I have to oil the machine before use.
Not really. It should be fine. In fact it might already be over oiled in which case run test scraps through.
Thank you 😊
Hello, Thank you so much for the video!!!! It has been really useful. My upper thread keeps getting stuck between upper level #3 and #4. I wonder if you would know what I can do. Thank you!!
Thank you. That’s so frustrating. Look for something catching the thread, snags on the machine. Flip the top thread 🧵 spool over. Check you’re definitely between tension spring x
@@AbisDen Thank you!
Hi I've just bought thos machine second hand. Can I get a blind stitch foot for it please. Machine us great thanks 😊
Hi Abi, great tutorial planning to buy but before doing that I have a question if this sewing machine is strong enough to take on jeans. Thank you
I’ll need to test it out on some jeans.👖
Hi great video but you didn’t show which overlock stitch you selected on the stitch selector dial….
😅❤😅
Sorry! Will do next time. Thank you for letting me know x
My seems to be broken or something, the ”under thread” isn’t coming up when I’m pulling the needle down to it. It just stays there and not even a small piece of the hread goes up
Needle threader
Thinking of buying this and just found your video online. Thank you so much. I’ve almost made my mind up although I didn’t hear you say anything about a reverse setting. Am I right in thinking that there isn’t one?
There is reverse setting. . I will be making additional
Videos with the machine.
Aww….thank you for you reply.Good to know that there is a reverse setting.Look forward to the future videos.
Thank you 🙏🏽
Thanks for the video. I am trying to learn how to use this sewing machine. Please i will like to know why my needle thread is not catching my down thread. I am following all the instructions still i am not able to get the 2 threads, please what am i doing wrong?
Let me check😊 I am making a “your questions answered video for this machine since it is so popular!“ if you have a question, please ask in a new comment field (i don’t always see replies x )
Get to Lidl tomorrow 8th December £45.
Thank youuu!
Hi! Abi... very informative video. I've just seen these in Lidl and was very tempted to snap one up at this price, but I would mainly want it for sewing soft ( 2mm ) leather for wallets and purses. Do you think it would cope with that sort of job? and would I need a special needle? [ If that was the case can I easily find new eedles that would fit this machine? ] Thanks )🙂
It’s the power of the machine you need as much as the right needle. I don’t know how long you would be able to go
On this machine without the fear of skipped stitches. It isn’t too bad for
Great video again. xx Will you be doing the live chats again.?
Possibly! But I’ve moved onto a college course! So as long as I have time :-)
Good on you. What are you Studying ?@@AbisDen
Hi Abi. Thanks for this video which has lots of useful tips which don't seem to be covered in the manual. What the manual does say though, I think, is to place the bobbin the other way round, so that when you pull on it, as you demonstrated, it goes * clockwise *?...not sure if this matters but thought I'd mention it in case it does.
Ooh, I will check that but it definitely matters. If the bobbin, especially on „front loaders“ like this machine. The bobbin must be loaded in the correct direction or the sewing machine will jam when you sew. I show the correct way at 12:24 x thank you nick ✨🪡🧵
Hi! I think i need some help, i got this exact model a few days ago and i think my automatic needle threader isnt doing its intended job… everytime i try i do not get that small loop to catch it!

What is difference between digital and mechanical sewing machine? I am begginer and want to buy machine, there is a lot of them and I don't know which one to buy.
Can this machine hem jeans I have been trying is not working
It should do x
I'm struggling with the tension on this machine . The bottom tension is perfect but the top tension is too tight, no matter what I do. I use large rolls of thread and the large spool -- am I doing something wrong here?
Sometimes threads get caught in the thread path. Check where that could be
Hi can i stitch jeans ?
I sewed jeans and leatherette on this very easily.
Can you use traditional cotton reels with this machine?
Traditional?
@@AbisDen the short stubby ones, like Sylko?
@adamrosser7882 ahh. Yes they’re be fine. Just watch out with old threads. They are dry, frail and tend to fray and shred all in your machine, messing it up and ruining the tension. They also won’t last well in your projects so it’s best to get rid of old I mean by 10+ years old. 😊 hope this helped
@@AbisDen thank you. My wife wasn't sure from the manual. Which of the fitments do we use to hold the reels on?
Abi, what to do if my machine doesn't catch lower thread? I did everything step by step about 10 times, and i dont get it whats the problem. Many thanks for the answer!
It sounds like you may need to look at the timing video
Yr bobbin might not be situated properly, did you hear the click as it went in
Can you please elaborate more, what is timing video?@@AbisDen
Not every time :/@@doreenhart2732
Como se puede conseguir un libro de instrucciones en español?

Just wanted to pass on to others, that my local sewing machine repair man won't service Lidl machines. Apparently they're poorly constructed and he can't get replacement parts. It may be more economical to get a known brand, depending on your needs and whether or not you're looking for a long-term investment
Oh dear. I wonder if he’s heard of brother overlockers? I would rate them a lot lower as would many other mechanics and parts are so readily available. I’ve never had an issue. It seems your service person doesn’t have an interest in repairing them. Some won’t because they sell machines themselves. Some won’t because they don’t know how.
@@AbisDen Sorry, I wasn’t having a go, it’s just what I had been told by the fellow, I didn’t know if other repairers would be the same. Yeah I’d heard that some brands that make good sewing machines don’t make great overlockers, I wonder why? 🤔
@rosalindwyatt8274 no I know you weren’t. I’m sorry if that’s the impression I gave. 🌷It’s disheartening for many many people who have low budgets and cannot afford to buy expensive machines I was caught buying terrible machines and lost so
Much money on “repair men” who never cleaned or fixed my machines. It’s why I’m here today . Helping many others like me who want to just enjoy sewing without being taken advantage of. Xxx 🙌🏽🪡✨
Wow I didn't realise that happens!! Cowboys even in sewing machine repair😔. I literally thought it was some kind of Lidl-specific issue, thinking that repair men would just turn them away based on the brand so had wanted to let others know. My bad, I'm very sorry for the confusion. Thank you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge, I've almost finished doing up a rusty ol' Janome overlocker by following your videos🤗 @@AbisDen
Lidl's have these machines in at the minute and l was considering buying one but l did wonder about buying a cheaper machine compared to the dearer ones. I had inherited a lovely old workhorse of a machine from my aunt about 30 years ago, it was built into a wooden stand on four legs and operated by pressing a long lever with your knee. I used to get a lot of people asking me to do curtains, alterations, etc. I didn't mind really, but when the machine packed up about two years ago, l just decided to live without one. Now l'm really missing that and would like to take it up again, so l came here to read the comments. So, just wanted to say l'm very grateful for all the views and info here. Thankyou everyone. 💖
Szkoda że nie ma tłumaczone na PL.język.
I hate that i dont know how to do that x
I don't understand why the bottom thread isn't coming out of the machine for me ?😢
Check that your needle is in fully.
