I find this the best type of video because out there on other hunting groups no one touches on this anymore and which quarry you can kill each with brief descriptions. Most are interested in showing off their new rifles and bits they get sponsored for. So thank you from all of us that are starting out as Hunter's.

Well presented and informative video, As you rightly point out in many of your video's ,know your quarry and more importantly your own capabilities (or lack of). Vermin or not depending on your point of view still deserve respect as living animals and the greatest respect you can show them is a clean kill. The number of people that think because they can hit a tin can at fifty yards automatically means they can take a live target that is constantly moving is high amongst those not willing to take the time for a little education.Heck even a blind man will eventually hit the tin can. Keep up the good work ,having just recently found your channel and subscribed , i look forward to new additions to keep myself educated.

Biggest threat this country faces is from grey squirrels. People think they are cute but just go to some parks and see where things don't grow anymore, and also how many birds they eat by raiding nests.
Very informative! More people need to learn this skill. Most people seem to be disgusted at the thought of hunting your own food and have the common misconception that they are riddled with disease and nasty to eat because they havent come from a supermarket refrigerator 😂

Really fantastic work! There is always more to learn, none of us can know everything. I found this to be very interesting, I didn't know pheasants originated in Asia and can't be shot on a Sunday. You've put a lot of work into this video and the footage is top notch.👍👍
Pheasants [head shots only] denotes a suitable distance, you couldn't be too far. You'd essentially be hunkered down wating for them to cross you're path, they're that skittish - unapproachable. Great vid.
Well done Lee , very informative. Here in Australia it is a bit different all Corvid’s are protected. No Squirrels ,Plenty of Rabbits, Hares and Feral Pigeons . I have got a 4 K pro just zeroed it it is on my .25 impact shooting at about 47 ft lbs Fantastic on the Bunnies. Got a Question for you about the scope it seems a little Dark in the Daylight is there something I can do or is it just the scope. And Lee does the firmware have to be updated prior to doing any videoing .cheers Dean
Thanks Dean 😁 At dawn i leave the 4k in night mode until the natural light is better, their is a setting in the menu to increase the brightness too. I only updated the firmware once, and that was when i recieved it. If its working fine, their is no need to update the firmware 👍
Any of the Gamo Swarm range. If you're target shooting then maybe the 177 but I've always preferred the 22 myself, they have a bit more punch to them. Happy shooting mate
I know all species in your video have to be controlled but I simply cannot bring myself to shoot a Jay......What a truly handsome member of the Crow family and I cant think of a Bird as pretty other than the Goldfinch.... I think number 3 Squirrel saw is fallen comrades and was very hesitant to feed....But he bit the dust in the end....That 60 yd Rabbit shot was spot on and do you every use a springer for vermin control......Very interesting video well done....

Hi Adam, Have you searched for a local range ? You have to have a landowners permission to shoot or hunt on any land, if you dont it becomes a criminal offence ( armed trespass)
Good filming and informative as usual. 👍Always makes my day when I pop off a magpie, saw a magpie kill a adult starling once, poor starling was screaming it’s head off as the magpie took a long time to kill it.
Good stuff, but all wild birds are protected under law, but some species can be shot or controlled under the General Licences issued by the individual Countries within the UK, these are the ones shown here. Some of these birds can only be shot under very specific circumstances and these vary between Countries and not all species can be shot at all times ! It is the responsibility of the person pulling the trigger to know what rules apply. Also there is a closed season for Brown Hares in Scotland.
And of course someone can't go shooting 'legal quarry' wild birds in their urban back garden claiming they are doing it to save crops, or to prevent the spread of disease in animals feed (unless of course they actually do have crops or livestock).
Free hunting is the art of stalking through woodland and hunting squirrels. You need the landowners permission to shoot anywhere, if you dont have it you are breaking the law and commiting armed trespass, which as a maximum sentence of 5 years in prison 👍

The best way i have found Chloe is to see if you are linked to a landowner through family or friends. A reccomendation by someone initiates an element of trust from the beginning 👍

in my experience the rook can be a friend and foe, they are very noisy in breading time in domestic areas but they do chase sparrow hawks away in the back-end. they are good tell tales too given away positions of magpies i often observed rooks in the close vicinity of magpies crowing away presumably helping them flush out hedges for young chicks. i'm of the subjective opinion that they use the magpies brains to find and source food and they nick it off them or at least try ? i do personalty like to see a small number of rooks in urban areas to i would hate to see them gone all together. i did thin them out to a tolerant my area. i had some very nice 40 meter kills with my s410 classic in .22 using air arms 5.52 pellet i also had success with my trusty falcon fn19. the magpies are well under control here and i think there's only one pair left in the village all the rest were taken at the bird table with 4 am starts on many occasion this year . its been a fruitful year and the numbers of small songbirds have greatly improved next season should be pronominal for the little garden birds here if they can make it through the winter? we have 3 mistle thrushes in the vicinity now never seen them before here. keep up the good work bud and you are a clinical shot with the 510 and i hope i can get similar with a recently acquired vintage titan in 177 ?
I wish I could say the same unfortunately here in the west of Scotland we’re infested with magpies there never used to be any in my area now they’re everywhere & definitely causing a decline in songbirds, it’s definitely a local problem & something should be done but unfortunately as far as I’m aware it’s only legal to shoot them here if you’re a farmer etc & they’re a threat to your livestock etc? It’s a fairly built up area here so firing out your kitchen window or stalking the local park where they congregate isn’t an option, really annoying

Magpies are not as tough or as smart as my Remington express xp 😄 they are the only corvid I enjoy shooting really nasty birds plus I like the challenge without putting bait out 😃
There's a dog loose in the woods, there's a dog loose in the woods. Haha. Wood pigeons strip my allotment constantly and I've shot hundreds. Nice to eat.
you did not say one vital thing when shooting feral pigeons , that is CHECK TO SEE IF THEY HAVE RINGS ON OR NOT if they do have a ring on then its some ones property and is protected under law so leave well alone

i know a Jay is of the Crow family and l really dont see many near me but l would not ever shoot one as they are too pretty a bird, yes they eat eggs and chicks but surely thats nature, cannot watch this type of video as l am a bird lover....BUT yes miles too many Magpies for sure
You will need to check what you need to do to apply for a licence in your own area, eg England Wales Scotland NI Some of the birds on here you cant shoot without a licence and the licence will take weeks to arrive and you are not always granted one. You have to show you have documented evidence photos etc that you have used all other methods before you carry out a shoot. Pest control has moved on from just shoot what you think is a pest species. Beware large fines and the loss of your equipment including veichles, guns dogs. I am a full time pest controller and bird control is not just turn up and shoot anymore.
There is no requirement to apply for a general license. The only factual part of your reply is the variation of legal quarry depending on the country you reside in. England, Wales etc. And the use of non lethal methods beforehand. Please explain what license you hold
@@CORVIDHUNTER Some of the birds you show on here are no longer part of a general licence. Check with Natual England on the new rules on corvids and dont show yourself culling birds that are not on the general licence its for your own good not mine as your channel is well liked and watched by many of us.
The birds i have shown being culled are all on the general license in England Paul, i know in Wales for example some are not covered by the Gl. The individual shooter is responsible for knowing the legalities in the country they are from. A big part of my channel is education and everything i conduct is perfectly legal in England 👍

You can only cull jays to protect endangered wild birds with documentation and photo proof of the jay on the land causing a problem to the endangered bird (see endeangered list on Natural England) Just be aware of posting your jay cull to the world as we need to give the new shooters the correct info and you will need a GL40 for Jays but the changes are made sometimes weekly so you have to be aware of whats happening each week.
Jays are on the English general license for conserving endangered birds. The general licenses are issued annually, they dont change weekly as you suggest. The problem we face is people not knowing the facts and misleading people. The 2022 general licenses will be issued again in January next year, because they are current for a 12 month period. I will read and digest them all as i do each year, i will then rely on the legal facts i read, and not hear say 👍
An excellent video, especially for those new to air gun hunting. The slo-mo's showing shot placement, in my opinion, should be shown at every possibility as an educational guide as to humane kill or just wounding. I hate those who get a gun and just blast away at anything that moves and this video, hopefully, will educate such idiots.

What you mean free hunting do you still need Permission or can you go to local woods long as your well careful of you bk stops ???

in my experience the rook can be a friend and foe, they are very noisy in breading time in domestic areas but they do chase sparrow hawks away in the back-end. they are good tell tales too given away positions of magpies i often observed rooks in the close vicinity of magpies crowing away presumably helping them flush out hedges for young chicks. i'm of the subjective opinion that they use the magpies brains to find and source food and they nick it off them or at least try ? i do personalty like to see a small number of rooks in urban areas to i would hate to see them gone all together. i did thin them out to a tolerant my area. i had some very nice 40 meter kills with my s410 classic in .22 using air arms 5.52 pellet i also had success with my trusty falcon fn19. the magpies are well under control here and i think there's only one pair left in the village all the rest were taken at the bird table with 4 am starts on many occasion this year . its been a fruitful year and the numbers of small songbirds have greatly improved next season should be pronominal for the little garden birds here if they can make it through the winter? we have 3 mistle thrushes in the vicinity now never seen them before here. keep up the good work bud and you are a clinical shot with the 510 and i hope i can get similar with a recently acquired vintage titan in 177 ?

I wish I could say the same unfortunately here in the west of Scotland we’re infested with magpies there never used to be any in my area now they’re everywhere & definitely causing a decline in songbirds, it’s definitely a local problem & something should be done but unfortunately as far as I’m aware it’s only legal to shoot them here if you’re a farmer etc & they’re a threat to your livestock etc? It’s a fairly built up area here so firing out your kitchen window or stalking the local park where they congregate isn’t an option, really annoying

Magpies are not as tough or as smart as my Remington express xp 😄 they are the only corvid I enjoy shooting really nasty birds plus I like the challenge without putting bait out 😃

You cant shoot woodpigeons just to eat. However you can shoot them for pest control then eat them as a bi product 👍

you did not say one vital thing when shooting feral pigeons , that is CHECK TO SEE IF THEY HAVE RINGS ON OR NOT if they do have a ring on then its some ones property and is protected under law so leave well alone

@@CORVIDHUNTER yes it should be ,but its not , take a look at any vid that is about a feral pigeon cull and shots are taken where the pigeons legs cannot be seen to check if they have rings on or not ,this includes the vid we are writing about , and the thing that bugs me most is when people say the land owner want the pigeons shot ,well they are not his if they have rings on .

i know a Jay is of the Crow family and l really dont see many near me but l would not ever shoot one as they are too pretty a bird, yes they eat eggs and chicks but surely thats nature, cannot watch this type of video as l am a bird lover....BUT yes miles too many Magpies for sure

You will need to check what you need to do to apply for a licence in your own area, eg England Wales Scotland NI Some of the birds on here you cant shoot without a licence and the licence will take weeks to arrive and you are not always granted one. You have to show you have documented evidence photos etc that you have used all other methods before you carry out a shoot. Pest control has moved on from just shoot what you think is a pest species. Beware large fines and the loss of your equipment including veichles, guns dogs. I am a full time pest controller and bird control is not just turn up and shoot anymore.
There is no requirement to apply for a general license.
The only factual part of your reply is the variation of legal quarry depending on the country you reside in.
England, Wales etc. And the use of non lethal methods beforehand.

@@CORVIDHUNTER Some of the birds you show on here are no longer part of a general licence. Check with Natual England on the new rules on corvids and dont show yourself culling birds that are not on the general licence its for your own good not mine as your channel is well liked and watched by many of us.
The birds i have shown being culled are all on the general license in England Paul, i know in Wales for example some are not covered by the Gl.
The individual shooter is responsible for knowing the legalities in the country they are from.
A big part of my channel is education and everything i conduct is perfectly legal in England 👍
@@CORVIDHUNTER Jays are no longer on a general License. You can only cull jays to protect endangered wild birds with documentation and photo proof of the jay on the land causing a problem to the endangered bird (see endeangered list on Natural England)
Just be aware of posting your jay cull to the world as we need to give the new shooters the correct info and you will need a GL40 for Jays but the changes are made sometimes weekly so you have to be aware of whats happening each week.
Jays are on the English general license for conserving endangered birds.
The general licenses are issued annually, they dont change weekly as you suggest.
The problem we face is people not knowing the facts and misleading people.
The 2022 general licenses will be issued again in January next year, because they are current for a 12 month period.
I will read and digest them all as i do each year, i will then rely on the legal facts i read, and not hear say 👍
An excellent video, especially for those new to air gun hunting. The slo-mo's showing shot placement, in my opinion, should be shown at every possibility as an educational guide as to humane kill or just wounding. I hate those who get a gun and just blast away at anything that moves and this video, hopefully, will educate such idiots.
