    I’m a keen air rifle hunter collector.. recently bought a well cared 1984 HW77 and an early HW95 for project rifles ..bought both for £380 the pair.. after a wipe down and few pellets through each turns out they had both been tuned. Both on a 5p at 40 m.. my point is there are some very good vintage rifles German or English that will last a lot longer than the new offerings .. also I have A bull barrel BSA Superten carbine PCP that is as accurate as any of PCP’s I have in my collection . The older German and English a/rifles were built by engineers the offerings today are built by accountants and way over priced ( eye watering)

      And don’t lay the rifle on the ground !, that’s why you have surface rust👆naughty boy .. caught my grandson doing that once ..he didn’t do it again🤕🤕 😂☹️👍

      @MAXIMOUTDOORS  Před 5 měsíci

      Haha cheers mate, I agree it's not good to lay them down but it does look for the video. Ah my mate had a super10. It was awesome and super accurate, huge bottle on it to for the times. One of the main reasons for rust is palm sweat I see, this particular gun had literally zero of it blueing left when I bought it for £250. I had thought of getting it repblued but it is a working tool and would be scared to take it out again in the damp weather. This has had a Welsh willy tuning kit installed before I bought it off a trusted friend. Full mirror polish of internals to and as you say you can smash 5ps at forty yards. In the right hands it's as good as a PCP.

      I bought my old 77 from an older chap down on the Somerset levels..he’d had it from new and was tuned by one of the tuning houses of the day ( no idea who) rifle has plenty of patina and character and performs better than my stage 4 Paul Short tuned 97’s 😂😆

    Hey man I really like your presenting style, but as someone with just a passing interest in bushcraft (which I think the majority of huge bushcraft channel’s subscribers are) I think an in-depth description of how you set up your tarp would be better as a separate video like a ‘how I set up my tarp’ type thing. I found 15 minutes of knots hard to watch, whereas I’m more interested in watching the ‘experience’ so a quick overview of your tarp would flow better with the vid for watchers like me. People clearly are interested in how you set up your tarp and so could still be filmed on the trip but released separately, which would increase your number of uploads per trip helping your algorithm. I hope you take this comment in the way it was intended

    I’m going to go back to a springer myself after owning a pcp.
    I had an hw 77 back in the 90s
    I loved that gun 👍🏻
    I’m now looking at a hw 57 fts
    Because they have an open sight on them.
    Have you had any experience with the HW 57 and would you compare it to the HW 77 ?

    • @MAXIMOUTDOORS
      @MAXIMOUTDOORS  Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks for watching. Firstly the hw 57 would surely be high quality as any German engineers could master. The only thing that has ever worried me is the pop up breech block to load the pellet rather than direct feed into the barrel, from experience I've had guns use similar invention which can dramatically alter the position of the pellet into the barrel and cause accuracy problem. However I've not shot a 57 so couldn't possibly say that would be problematic. If I were to buy another springer and had the money I would opt for a hw 97kt or a bsa prosport but now we are talking £££££££

    • @lv2fishuk120
      @lv2fishuk120 Před 5 měsíci

      Thanks for the advice I have had that comment about the breech block and I can understand the reasoning behind it so that was the only thing that could put me off
      My other option was the HW97kt but the lack of the open sight put me off.
      My reason for the open sight is going back to basics but also having that reliability which you get from the HW’s.
      Keep up the great work I love you channel 💪🏼

    If it comes to survival with an airgun….I mean you guys over there are shooting rabbits , squirrels, and pigeons with sub-12 foot pound guns. I have a CO2 powered Umarex Fusion 2 (and a 1 for that matter) that will put out 11-11.5 foot pounds with slugs. So with a break barrel or an under lever, you can pick up a decent one of either for around $1-200, you could keep yourself fed for a long dang time. Use a PCP like an Umarex Notos, where you could hand pump it for any hunting session, fairly easy, you’d be set.

    • @MAXIMOUTDOORS
      @MAXIMOUTDOORS  Před 5 měsíci

      Couldn't agree more!! The only thing I would mention is that pcps are way more inclined to blow an oring and then you have a lump of metal with no real use unless you can. Repair it but a spring rifle hardly ever throws a broken spring, maybe the off breech seal which is very easy to replace even with leather. Hey I have ten guns, many of which are pcps and I love them very much. Thanks for watching and thanks for taking the time to comment. All the best to you and your family from Wales 👍
