Crazy that the UK isn’t leading these technologies, hopefully the new gov will make this a priority as for sure this is the future, diy solar is going to be huge in the UK, it has to be for our future

Checking the Anker website, it looks like the UK/EU spec for the SOLIX X1 isn't available yet and the ENA Connect Direct Live Device Register doesn't appear to have any certification for G98/G99/G100 yet but I guess it'll tick these boxes eventually.
Re DIY solar - pretty sure there will be a market for this in the UK but just how 'DIY' it will be in reality remains to be seen. Will it require an interlocked socket outlet like the ones Joe R described in your recent CPD vid? Are we looking at yet another BS7671 Amendment!? Surely such a product would be likely to encourage the siting of EESS _inside_ houses and flats, which PAS63100 is saying shouldn't happen.
Yes the UK should have legal plug and play solar systems.
Is there a technical reason not to??
If there is a technical issue could it be got around by having electricians install a 'solar socket' that is dedicated to these systems?
Like we have junction boxes dedicated to electric cookers?
Another bonus is it might be useful for tenants in rental properties. Could unblock the resistance from landlords investing in their properties.
If you could add storage units to the top and bottom of the inverter unit would mean you could retrospectively add storage much easier than wiring across or moving the inverter unit up .
Heat pumps run most efficiently when they are configured for low flow temperatures and constant operation. "Smart Grid" control is to allow suppliers to delay upgrading their infrastructure by sacrificing the end user's sCOP. Unless they are offering a very substantial premium for cycling _your_ heat pump at _their_ convenience (and they won't be) don't accept it.
after the Eufy scandal I´m not sure people are ok whit having Anker stuff conected to their home network
Disappointed with the -20 degree C minimum as it rules out a lot of places in Canada and probably Northern Europe too.
Well one way to overcome that would be too build an insulated enclosure. Basically a small shed with 12 inches of rock wool in its frame. That way it would be outside and protected from the weather. And no doubt the charging and discharging would raise the temperature just enough to protect it. Folks do that in the UK to protect batteries from wind blown rain. Obviously we don't need too much insulation but up in Scotland they get minus 16 C often enough.
Probably something for people reviewing battery systems is to not just rattle off the headline operation temperatures. Look a little further and find out if there is any current (amps) reduction at those low temperatures, and at the other end of the scale too for that matter. Look into how either end of the temperature range affects charging too. Try charging a LiFePO4 battery with the cells below 0c and the results aren't good, assuming the current isn't so low as to be completely pointless vs battery capacity. Batteries designed for outdoor placement in cold countries absolutely need the ability to self heat and raise their cell temperature to 5c at a minimum to allow for a decent charging rate.
