"you're so brave" is my LEAST favorite thing to be told in terms of my chronic health problems. like shut up, please 😂
It’s like …I didn’t know there was a choice
Had to "fight" my therapist repeatedly on this 😅
I like it sarcastically from my besties only 😂
I struggle with contemporary romance, too. They seem to rely on miscommunication and characters being obtuse. And characters (especially men) who are terrible people.
I rarely like Romance novels in general, but contemporary are the most frustrating for me
you being grossed out by a 2 year teenage age difference but being okay with the SA in haunting adeline is sending meeeee 🤣🤣🤣
i KNOW! Contemporary Romance gives me the ick so easily 🤦🏻♀️
People are complex
This is so relatable. 16 yo Girl & 18 yo Boy romances give me the ick but stalker romances? No prob friend
Doing the border of a puzzle first makes it harder? That's the only way I know how to do a puzzle!
I hate being told im brave for dealing with my mental illnesses. Like, I am just living life dude.
you and jordaline are literally ✨the best ✨ booktubers.
Your annotated copy of Magnolia Parks is EVERYTHING!
The puzzle was so pretty and I'm glad you included finding the missing piece. Also you went hard on your Magnolia parks annotations and they are fantastic!🐭
I’m living for the chaos ensuing in the first 5 minutes 😂
Katie, I would love to watch an annotating video from you. WOW!! I have never seen anyone annotate the way you did. Your Magnolia Parks project looks awesome!
*
Watching you dip and dive into your romance era (or... year? Moment? Idk at this point) has been so much fun. I'm happy you're trying something new, and I love your absolute blunt opinions on everything lol
Keep being awesome!
Oh! And Katie? Ding-dong, 🏠. Hope you like your presents. They were delivered today 😂
I don't know what I would do without your commentary on these books in my life. It is beautiful and it keeps me away from total trash books.
my favorite TV show is finding out what your next hyperfixation is
Katie watching your videos always feels like ranting with a bestie 😌
I literally had the SAME reaction to the age gap, my annotated notes go from PANIC to REASSURED, in like the span of a chapter, like the breath I exhaled.
You honestly had me cackling, I loved this vlog so much 🐁 🐭
🐁 one of my favorite booktubers, always entertaining and down to earth. Also you just convinced me to read Haunting Adeline....and I love/hate you for that ❤
8:47 a fellow chaos goblin that opens the bag from the middle😂😂
The tabs in magnolia parks and the entire book is just gorgeous and I’m jealous that I’m not creatively capable of doing something so pretty
Katie reading books that she enjoys < Katie reading books that she hates... I mean...
All of Ali Hazelwoods books have FMCs who don’t understand someone can like her even when he says it to their face. It’s so annoying to me
this used to be me, so I don't judge these type of characters (I overcame my insecurities when I realized that all the men I liked or were interested in me were not worth of me losing my peace of mind because of them)
Hahah that voice when you found the missing puzzle piece 👌👹
Your annotated copy of Magnolia Parks is so cool!!!
"Don't yuk my yum" Adeline probably 😂😂😂
being weirded out by a 2 year age difference is wild 🤣
I think what bothered her is the fact that the female main character is underage.
@@idk-dz yeah i got that but calling him a pedophile is a bit much.
I had no idea I enjoy the sound of someone deconstructing a puzzle!
I do a lot of puzzles and I ALWAYS start by the boarder. 🤷🏻♀️😂
Is it just me or is Katie looking more stunning than usual in this video 😭 miss girl is glowing 🤭❤
Flawless!!
ASMR is nice to listen to from time to time
You legitimately sold me on "Haunting Adeline"
So excited for this
Hi Katie can't wait for your Magnolia Parks reading vlog!
Katie- I totally agree with you about Check And Mate.
As soon as I Finish the Veronica Speedwell series, I'm reading this!! 🐭
Im learning which things i enjoy romance which it turns out im also picky about. The beach read and the hating game were my intro and the brown sisters series is top tier
That said I especially struggle to like romances with super young characters. I lived that teenage angst, it sucked, no thank you
I underestimated how much I was gonna laugh 😂😂 reminder to self read haunting Adeline 😅
I would buy your annotated books and we don't even have the same reading tastes! I am beyond impressed, so much care❤
What do you need rn?
Me: 1 hr long vid from KC
DELIVERED excuse me thxxx❤
Very interesting to hear your take on Fangirl down and T1D. Makes me curious to see if I would relate to the MC or not!
Omg haunting of Adeline...you sold us
I've never heard of anyone NOT doing the border first! lol
I 💙 your videos. Great book content, fun personality and you totally motivate me to choose to snack on
🥕🥕🥕instead of chips! You’re great.
Thanks 😁
gurl waaaat?? i always started with the borders and thought that was the right way (not that i care, the borders are easier for me cuz i know where everything will be placed in eventually)
I was distraught by the destruction of the puzzle. All that work to tear it up. NO! Glue that shit together and use it as art like us tacky people do. Hurtful, Katie, damn!
@@amandalamb2347i glued mine! i have like three i placed on my walls 😆
I have been thinking for the last couple of days, WHERE'S KATIE?! ❤ Thanks for posting this, especially since you've been in a lil slump.
7:00 "I get that it's realistic - But I don't want to read about it." Exactly! I have this problem with so much mainstream fiction.
I laughed at naked arms - my T1D teen daughter loves when the timing works out on her OmniPod and Dex to get changed out and she can get a fully naked shower 😅. Love it when you share T1D rep - thank you!
i DNFd check & mate in the first few chapters so I'm not surprised you don't like it 😂 i love us lol
Great Video and Lots of laughs
Katie: Leave a 🐭
Me: 😆😳☺️
8:30 guess I need to add puzzle ASMR to my list of tingles😅🤣
I have yet t read a Tessa Bailey book that isn’t cringy.
little mouse ...makes me think of veronica speedwell as well LMAO
your biggest ick in Haunting Adeline being that he doesn't like fiction HAHAHA
UGH i hate to stick up for a man in any way shape or form whatsoever, but i remember him thinking that she was brave for overcoming a childhood where she was raised to live in fear of herself and view herself as fragile, but not brave for just having a disease. and then he literally thinks "she wouldn't like me calling her brave" and the author kind of makes commentary on why you don't call people brave for just living. i agree though, he was so scared of his inner femininity that it was his downfall lmaaaooo the champagne thing was very fratty Chad of him.
I still need to read haunting Adeline 😭
Completely off topic - did you know Amazon Prime has a movie adaptation of My Best Friend's Exorcism?!?
Oh my gosh when you’re talking about Zade’s best s3x talk omfgggg so good!! You’re making me want to read hunting Adeline now!! (Never got to the second one)
Where can i find that puzzle? I love it!!
Hec..I had to rewatch the part about the head throw the mattress! Fudge that was hot!
I’m also trying romances to see what works for me! I’m aroace and was talking with an ace friend about how I feel like it makes me a harder sell on some of these couples. I don’t know if any of the books you talk about here would be for me, but it was fun to listen to you react to them. A different friend was talking about Tessa Bailey to me just last week, but I know we have different taste in books. She’s very “just turn your brain off” and I cannot.
Tessa Bailey is exactly this "turn your brain off". You should try Part of Your World and Truly Yours
@@MarcelleLeiturasPreguicosas Thanks! I’ll add them to my TBR.
Have you read or heard of Medusa by Rosie Hewlett? its saving me from an impending slump i hightly recommend and while reading it i just kept thinking Katie would love this if she hasnt read it already :P
Personally, I just find contemporary romance boring even after only reading the first couple chapters. I need like an added element whether that be fantasy romance, mystery romance, historical romance, etc.
You have the best reactions! Mouse 🐭
Katie have you read the book "boy parts"? I picked it up after hearing it was similar to "Bunny" and so far I like it and feel like you would too. It's psychedelic and about an unhinged woman
LOVE THIS VLOG!! Haunting Adeline is one of my favourites, so much I am getting a tattoo in a couple of weeks. Katie you are making me want to read Magnolia Parks ... great content, great editing! You are my comfort Booktubers 🥰🧡
Every time I read a book where the main girl has diabetes I immediately think of you
Hahaha Charles Wysoki 😂😂
i only like VERY specific contemporary romances.
Ive never been this early.
Speaking of friendships how is Grace? We havent seen her in your content in a while.
Indie romance > trad pub romance all the way (except when Bloom picks up and publishes indie lol)
Thoughts, what if the roles were reversed in Fangirl? PS haven’t read it!
Irritated at myself for missing the premiere, the video was staring at me on my home page all day and I misread the date on it 😭. But we're gonna move on and enjoy this still.🐁I am still very anti-romance in books across all genres, it doesn't move me at all and I usually consider it something to "get through" in order to enjoy the actual plot of the book. I have yet to a read one that doesn't either make me roll my eyes the whole time or that I was neutral about/would miss if it was cut.
I don't have an issue with dark romances exploring a non-con/dub-con/fear kind of kink but I can't get on board with that going unsaid in an on page dialogue between the characters before anything happens. I think they everyone involved, including the reader, needs to know what's happening and not just by hearing their separate thoughts. Even if I might know what's happening, the fact that neither of them fully do is very ick to me. At first I thought it was just because of men and the fact that I feel nothing towards pretty much any male character (can't think of one I've loved) but then I read a dark sapphic romance short story with a similar kink exploration and I was getting that same ick until they both acknowledged that it is a kink. It was only a handful of sentences exchanged between them but that allowed me to step back, understand that both of them knew what was happening even if it was still very dub-con, and return to my usual neutral state with romances.
Sorry for writing my own short story lol. Thanks for the video, hope you are back into reading after taking that break. Enjoy the rest of your week!
“Champagne is for women” - return this dude for a full refund
Im sorry I need to speak up: the border pieces are what you're supposed to first!! I mean, after sorting.
Well, if it isn't me, miss Duchess number 1... Heh ✌🏻 I mean... who else could be 🤷🏻♀ 💁🏻♀
I picked up Haunting Adeline because I wondered about the hype. But hearing you talk about how deliciously morally grey Zade is made it shoot to the top of my TBR!!
Edit: it will be my first dark romance…
oof I don't think it's a good fiesta dark romance cause its DARK maybe you should ease into the genre
after this, I recommend the Mindfuck series
🐭
I liked Fangirl Down (in a 3,25 kinda way, Check & Mate was better) but I agree that Wells (MMC) is problematic. He changes a little bit by the end, at least, but Tessa Bailey should have toned down him a little bit in the beginning. I also was thinking that in real life nobody would say "no" to money to reconstruct their business after a hurricane, I oversaw it because therefore the book would be a short story. Tessa Bailey should've worked on the reasons why Wells and Josephine get together overall, I don't get how they changed from work colleagues to flirting and intercourse, but after they started flirting, I liked enough to make me finish it (but I rolled my eyes in the brunch scene, too). The love scenes were good, I liked Josephine (despise her aversion to receive money), and Bailey's writing style is silly that way, it doesn't bother me as she writes silly romances, it worked to me in her previous books I've read (but I wouldn't recommend to read more from her to anyone that disliked her writing).
tessa bailey's young daughter has T1D, i'm sure her research was from her own experience!
❤🐭
How are you my beautiful human being. I hope this don't sound weird!
🐁
⛳️🖤🏌️♂️ and ok fine 🐭
I read a decent amount of romance including YA and Check & Mate was legit so bad. I don’t get why so many people love it so I’m with you.
Actually I think youre not mean enough to some of those books bc from what you mention they shound AWFUL... I dont read m/f romance and the reasons you say you dislike these are part of why I just know its not my thing. Thanks for the reviews! Love how you tear some of them apart while youre funny but you fangirl over the stuff you enjoy :-)
🖤🌹🐀
oh my gosh lol fangirl down sounds so bad yikes
I looked into where Ali Hazelwood was from and it turns out she’s Intalian… which lead me to asking what the Age of Consent is in Italy… and it turns out… at least according to a very quick Google so I could be wrong… it’s 14. In her mind 16 and 18 isn’t too bad.

"Its only 2 years" no the difference between a 18 yo and a 16yo is so way weirder than a 26 yo and a 28 yo.
I really don’t understand that outrage about the age gap of two years? In school I had a boyfriend who was in the same school class as I, because he had to repeat a school year due to bad grades (that's how it works in the German school system) and he came to my class. That is how we met. He was born the year before me, in April and I was born the year after him in November. So the age gap between us was 1 year and 7 months. Meaning for 7 months he was already eighteen while I was still sixteen before I turned 17 while he was 18 for the next five months. We were in the same school class for god's sake! We were together for hours every day at school. We had the same time tables, same school projects, same thinking, same interests, same behaviors. We were seen as equals by everyone: teachers and parents. The “age gap" didn't mean anything. No harm done. We were together for 5 years in total before life and work separated us. We still have friendly contact today, some decades later.
But I agree contemporary romance books are an annoyance. Yet I am biased as I am not a fan of the romance genre in general and can do without a big romance aspect in other genres as well.😂
