I don't even have much knowledge on TCG but I almost got heart attack from watching this game especially in the end-game
The disaster box tool card was a surprise and the strategy and meta in this world's event was so refreshing compared to ADP and early sword and shield era
I just wish I had a friggen clue what I’m watching. I’ve read instructions, I’ve watched videos, I’ve watched competition matches, I still don’t get it. How do they even decide when they end there turns? I understand the whole thing with your benched mons im taking while on bench you stack them with attachments for boost ups and then that’s like a chain reaction card play system to attack or defend?
@@jwrailve3615 I learned by playing Pokemon Battle Academy board game. I play against my 7 year old. Fun for all ages. There is also Pokemon TCG app for your phone you can play for free.
What a grand finals! This had everything you could ask for, both played out of their minds!!
This match was epic, you can tell they put so much time and practice into learning their decks. They definitely are the best of the best.

Been playing since 1998 so, as a tcg game vet, this is astonishing. Cards and rules has changed soooo much since then, also bro the card search from your library to your hand and back about four times may look important but in my times there was a time limit to pick a card

I love watching Tord replace his deck to its correct spot when Vance would cut the deck and then when Tord gets to do the same, he shuffles, cuts then replaces his deck to its correct position lol. Love it.
I watched this live and it was so intense. We were waiting with bated breath on every move. The atmosphere was absolutely electric. We were gutted for Tord, but it was such a good game!

Such a great game and pleasure to watch! It's a shame that it had to end in sudden death though, wish the rules were changed a bit even if it's only for grand finals of major tournaments
yea fr imo finals should not have time instead punish slow play. but i understand they have a schedule they have to follow :(
Yeah for real Jugde should add clock timer like on PTCGLive chess game so there is no played slow tactics like tord

The other guy worked just as hard but in theory even hard he had to make it to day two while Tord was already guaranteed day 2.

The Reklev's deck is hard to set up but when it completes the preparations, it's very powerful
What and why are the tokens placed on the cards at 8:15?
I wanted to see Tord win because it would be cool for an 'ex' deck to win Worlds since they were just introduced and are competing against VMAX and VSTAR decks.
But, this is also likely to be the final big tournament Mew VMAX will ever win due to Charizard ex (dark) coming into the format. That deck can consistently KO a Mew VMAX as early as turn 2.
The World Champs eludes Tord but he will be back. Congrats to both but I'm glad to see Mew Vmax win it. It has been such a powerhouse and a staple of the swsh era. I feel like seeing it go out on top is a fitting end since it's unlikely to be played much going forward. I'm behind on what's meta nowadays hence why I'm so late to this video, but hopefully as s&v continue to release new sets we get to see decks that are as fun as Mew Vmax was to play.

Been playing yugioh for 20 years. Never played the actual Pokémon card game until a few days ago and I’m instantly HOOKED
This looks more complicated than playing on the actual app😭😭
Tord literally had everything with him, that BDIF gets him everything he wants but I guess where Tord really lost was time. Every turn needed to be played with extreme focus and it took a lot of time to play the cards because you spend most of it drawing, sequencing and playing the right ones at the right time. As you notice, it took a whole 60 minutes for the final plus some extra turns. But Vance was ready even at the dying minutes of the final because he can take prizes. Tord was unable to put enough psychic energies into the discard though to be ready for the prize taking KOs at the dying moments of the match. But Congratulations to Vance Kelly for being the World Champ!!!
He lost in Game 1 when he didn't get rid of Zacian, he never played Iono, he plays like he is misplaying but setting up for later turns when in actuality he is misplaying and losing the game. When he beat Michael, Michael had NOTHING and brought it down to 2 prizes and could've took the game if his start wasn't so bad. To get in top 8, dude got a 2 prize loss penalty that damn near guaranteed Tord the top 8 spot. Makes the run seem rigged. I hate Ness or Jason Kly because I played vs him in My Era, but the he is the GOAT for a reason with 3 Worlds victories and Tord will never be that.
@@JaeMizz to beat Mew using Garde, the main emphasis is setting up energies into the discard and bringing out your most powerful attacker to dish the damage but if you mess up in setting then it's going to be problematic as the game goes by.
@@kaushikhegde8227 It's 2 scenarios. Boss Genesect Boss Genesect Boss Genesect or Mew V with Gardy ex and Gardy. U use Zacian V if u can guarantee the Ko or fall behind but both must be true in that situation. Spiritomb in the deck literally swings it in your favor yet Tord doesn't play tomb. I'm a Gardy player and mew is more aggressive and has the edge based off speed, but if your experienced with the deck u understand how to use Gardy Ex and playing 2 Boss's and palpad.
@@JaeMizz he did take game 2 but the time lapse worked for Vance because Tord couldn't get the big guns on time. It's 3 turns after 1 hour, right?

When time runs out, whoever's turn it is start as Turn 0. Then it just goes 1, 2 and 3.

Mirage step is good but so many games it ends up being useless, I mean if you go second you are not playing it.
I've had to change my gardy list multiple times, Gallade? Mirage Step? 3 stadiums?, worker? Escape rope?
So many variables and I'm not sure what is the best list for me
mirage step is only meant to be used in emergencies. you want to set up with refinement kirlia every single time. mirage step is for when too many ralts are prized or unavailable. its a backup plan, not a strategy

They’re used as markers to show that they used that Ability for the turn. It’s pretty common on streams like this. ☺️

Thanks for the knowledge iv been curious about learning how to play but what if you have the same card as your opponent? Im so confused but i guess i have to just play a few games and get hands on experience to get the feel of it. Plan on buying some cards get me a few decks to work with. Edit 1/3rd way through the match.... ummm this reminds me of poker for nerds like myself. I barely know how to play poker but this looks funner for me. So its like you have to arm the 5 cards on deck to be able and replace the card being played and you can pre plan your attacks in detail and in an effective manner . I like it im in.😮😅😊edit once more. This should be on every commissary in ever prison and ever jail. Spades and hearts gets old really fast. Also look up the 2 California cops that are on leave or even fired for playing Pokémon GO on the job ignoring call for backup to catch Pokémon 😂❤
Very new to Pokemon tcg so can someone please tell me what Tord was using to get all his energy back each time he put a new Gardevoir?
It's Gardevoir's ability, Psychic Embrace. You can take all the energy cards in the Discarded pile and put them on any Pokémon you want.

Everyone was anticipating Tord to win. It was a tough game, I think he was just relieved the game was over and felt a little upset for Tord.

Didnt know you could cut your deck after you already did and your opponents had the chance to. Tord wouldve been disqualified.

Anyone can explain why they put mew vmax on the bench in last turn just to put it back again to active at the end?
basically, mew vmax has an attack that says it copies the attack of a fusion strike pokemon in play, in this case genesect has the attack that does 210 damage and the next turn it can't attack, so to attack the next turn it uses the free retreat of mew vmax to remove it from the active position and then use the switch to put him back active and attack again
Im a Little new to the tcg. But how did he manage to get 4 price cards with just one V kill which would give him 2 price cards. Could someone explain?

Tord was seconds away from winning! If they took an extra second or two, time would have been called on Vance's turn. Then Tord would have had turns 1 and 3 instead of 0 and 2. If everything played out the same, the Cresselia line would have clinched it on turn 3!

Techno blast makes it where you can't attack the next turn so he needed to retreat and get back into the active so he can attack again

Why did Vance switch out the mew in game three(his last turn)? I don’t think he needed to.
Because the Mew VMAX had just attacked on the previous turn with Techno Blast, so it had to switch out and then come back in for the effect to reset.
@sirfox6307 oh even if ur using the genesects move u still have to wait a turn or switch out to attack again next turn. Interesting I'm new to tcg so I was wondering the same thing and if the rule still counts since it's mew using the genesect attack. But it explains it to me now thanks.
I really dont understand why is there time in the finals, let the guys play their best games, time is not really an issue when there are no other games taking place.

Tord was playing BDIF and still the entire tournament those casters openly rooting for him.
Sucks that his story seems to be one of perpetual 2nd place but still, thought there would be less obvious bias from the casters. Maybe next year they can get more professional ones

He's a good player, great, even, but the bias from the commentary table constantly making Tord seem like he's God's greatest gift to the Pokemon TCG is downright annoying and off putting. They hardly mentioned Vance's miracle run to the finals, but CONSTANTLY mentioned Tord winning every IC, and even compared him to a man who won Worlds three times, while Tord hasn't won a single one. Chip Richey is a big part of this as well, as I've watched multiple Pokemon TCG tournaments where he has mentioned and talked about Tord despite him not being on stream, the subject of what was happening, or even in the tournament anymore. That's why I have a disdain for Tord and his fanboys. It's not even Tord's fault, which is unfortunate for him, but the dickriding is absolutely ridiculous most of the time.

This game makes less sense than when playing it in the 90s. People just drawing cards nonstop without playing anything that allowed them to. Cards are nostalgic to collect game has always been trash.
Awesome work, Vance! Gard is one of the worst pokemon ever created, weirdos always simping on it. Knowing how OP this deck is, and how bias the commentary was. Vance deserves it. 💪🏾
Haha, I wouldn't say worst, Gard is very powerful and in the games has good coverage.
As for the other point, yeah it's a bit wierd, but at least Gardevoir isn't an animal like Vaporeon who the internet is way more obsessed over, Gard much closer to human than anything else in the pokedex.
Also people really want an ex deck to win finally, people are tired of seeing Vmax, and Vstar win every year

I don’t care Tord got 2nd place in worlds. Tord is literally the best player of pokemon card in the world. I mean nobody ever will be at the level of Tord. Even the American player with the most points right now Reagan was demolished in this tournament and even Pedro Eugenio was completely bashed in this tournament. Azul and Alex Schemanske were close to be champion but none of them got as close as Tord did. Tord is the goat and will ever be the Jay Z of pokemon card games hands down. This guy has more accomplishments and haters and fans that you ll ever dream to be. Tord would definitely have won worlds if just if so many things would have not gone wrong for him.

Luminion isn't even played much in Gardevoir anymore. Not completely sold on mirage step and only 10 energy and only 2 fog crystal doesn't feel right
