What's the Pentax lens and adapter?
I have added links to the lens and the adapter at the bottom of the video description. Check them out!
TechnologyMafia Does the Pentax lens have high radiation like the other ones from the 60s and 70s ?
Do you have any suggestions for best budget lenses for a6000 to use for capturing architecture/ buildings?
Should I get this camera instead of the M50 and the fujifilm 1000 ? Need help thanksss
@@TheOsoriio Definitely.
Regarding battery life, the first thing you should do (before even playing with any of camera settings) is to go into the wifi section under menu, and turn on airplane mode. You can turn it on if you're syncing with a smartphone or the PlayMemories app, but with airplane mode, you will be able to save a lot more battery life-especially when the camera is off.
I switched from a Nikon D7000 to the Sony a6000, and haven't looked back since!
By the way; selecting 'Monitor' (disabling viewfinder) in the settings menu on the a6000 prevents battery drain. Also, when not in use, turn off Wi-fi.
What about the overheating?
Ive been shooting the past week in 100 + degree weather without issue...
NiqHowie That's good to hear. I hope it doesn't.
+CallmeMat I hear the a6300 overheats with continued use of 4K video shooting. The a6000 stock 16-50mm lens is pretty good but I had TWO brand new cameras with faulty lenses. One right after the other. But the one I have now is great. I also have the 55-210mm lens and a couple of canon FD lenses, a Pentax 50mm f2.0, and a canon EF 50mm 1.8 II
if you are shooting for longer than an hour or so continuously you will experience some over heating. I have friends with a7's and they over heat. Its a common issue unfortunately
Omg!!! Was researching knowing nothing and you demystified the subject for my Christmas purchase for my son. Unbelievably accuracy and spot on to the point. Thank you very much. You saved me hundreds of dollars.
"The best camera you can have is the one that you take with you"
Actually that saying came from the world of handguns.
JP Stone the best (insert any object) is the one you have with you. I doesn’t matter who said it first it’s true for every situation
You're hilarious lol! Thank you
it's not true
Well, I'm convinced. I'm in the market for a quality mirrorless camera primarily for the purpose of shooting video. I love the idea of using old manual lenses with new cameras. When i saw your results I was convinced. Thank you sir
FOMH you should check out the panasonic gh4, it is much more video oriented! It also supports 4k and adapting to older or other mounts is a breeze
Thanks freddie, i'll check it out.
but GH4 is way more expensive
Rangga Djati yup, but for his purposes I think it would be a perfect choice, pay more but get much more. I for one could not work daily with the a6000. The difference between the two is astounding.
What about a6500? It got 4K and still cheaper than GH4?
Love the videos man! I’m in the car scene so I absolutely love taking pictures and I’ve been wanting a camera for the longest not but never knew what to get I watched this video when you posted it and now I just purchased my own A6000, thank you! Keep up the great work I will stay subscribed for long time to come
I am sold. the fact that you can get cheap adapters AND lenses is a big appeal to me. thanks for the video 👍
Subscribed. You get straight to the point and nothing less, keep it up man!
Kameron Steen Sony ces 2018
Your diction, voice and review ability are awesome. Thank you for what you're doing.
A6000 works like a charm and with Ziess lens hits the sweet spot. I use 24mm 1.8, 16-70mm f4 and 55-200mm lens and those are all I need.
Wow amazing! You are great at explaining things, thank you so much for all your hard work! Just got mine today, wanted the A6300 but it was expensive (only a beginner) so excited!
I just purchased a a6000 , been shooting in a canon T7 ! I must say this is the beat video I’ve seen covering the a6000! Thank you!😁
I have the a6000. I have used the heck out of it. But when I need my wow factor, I go to my Canon. From an artistic perspective, Canon is actually my go to. For the type of photography I do, I found that the a6000 and the a6400 just doesn't cut it. I don't switch, I just use both systems for their strengths. Also the compactnesss and ability of the alphas have aloud me to get a shot I could never take with my cannon, although the RP could probably do it. So, it's not about what is better, because the Sony's have been so frustrating at what would be a breeze with a Canon. But some shots would be almost impossible to take without the Sony. That's why you go to school for art to learn the subtle differences of your tools and medium, inorder to create a certain vision. True artists never say I switched from oils to acrylics, they use both to their advantage depending on what they are creating.
Thanks for this thorough review. Which adapter would you recommend to fit cannon lenses?
thank you for specifying what this video was shot with in the beginning. Wish more people did that.
Great review! I was convinced to go buy it, but now I am totally going for it! Thanks!
Detailed info ! Love it 🖤
Great review helped me make decision quickly please do more 👍
I'm currently upgrading from my outdated Nikon D90 and this review was so helpful! Thank you!
Great video.... would love to see a video on more lens options for this camera.
Welcome to the mirrorless world.
welcome to the battery change challenge 'cause 150 gr more are too many for my poor and weak arms.
But now we shoot a fabulous video with my new sony a6000. Oh my god what a terrible sound !!! Let's assemble a nice Rode right away. OH NO !!! There is no inlet connection
@@falconius27 ahahaha funny 😊
Thanks for the video! after a lot of research, finally I decided to switch into a a6000 and with all you have said, I think I made a great decision.
Andrea Rodriguez Hmm, he didn't really explain much about why he likes the Sony camera except sharper image. Most of the things he mentioned, Canon already has, even the wifi feature.
Great vids with a lot of good information. Thank you!
Great video, great review. Unbiased and informative. What more could anyone ask for these days? Thankyou!
4-5 seconds? That must be the startup time plus focusing.
Sold my Nikon D800 and D7100 for A6000 and A7R, Sony is way ahead
try with Nikon D810.... :D

@@AlexMkd1984 bhahahaha
A real service to all of us that you made this video. Thank you! Will the adaptor do wide angle lenses from the past, such as a 10mm from the 70s if such a thing exists ? looking to get big landscapes
Thanks for a great video. I will have to watch more of yours..I just got the a6000 and love it.
Nice review. Would I be able to use my Canon 24-70mm L ii series lens on this camera? I have the Canon 70d but keep hearing so many great things about this camera. Thank you!
You can get an adapter for using L lenses
IMPORTANT: for those looking to get into filming or CZcams, and wanting a better camera (like me), and trying to decide from a 200 dollar handycam, or an expensive camera like the Sony a6000, GO WITH THE A6000! Why? Let's see. If you are really serious about filming and thinking about doing it for a really long time, if you buy a cheap ish camera after a while you will long for better quality. Instead of buying the 200 dollar one, save up for a little while, get the more expensive camera, get a good mic, and save yourself from wasting a camera.
is it still worth getting in 2018? or are there better options? I'm looking at the rx100 v for just its pocketability so i'm torn between that and the a6000..
I'm not sure which I should get, GoPro hero 6 black vs Sony A5100 vs canon t2i
Thanks for the Gear List. The audio and video quality is great. Did you record this video with the A6000 ? ( it was on the table )
Your video was very helpful. Been doing some research and now I know what Im gonna get. Cheers :)
This was really helpful
Hey
This is like one of the best reviews I've ever seen
Great video! Recently ran across a unprofessional photographer who lacked good communication skills which inspired me to get into it on my own. I am a model and I love being behind the camera just as much as I love being in front. I ordered the a6000 for Christmas as a gift to myself and have used it to vlog and take pictures here and there. I’m now ready to use this camera to the best of my ability and learn more about photography in general. I definitely will be looking at more of your videos🙂
Great info thanks ! Probably going to buy this one
What is the name of the batteries you purchase on Amazon for this camera?
EXCELLENT review! I've been wanting this camera but I'm a Canon head! This has totally helped make my decision! :) #subbed
I hope you got the sony camara
I've been wanting to make the switch to a more compact camera such as a mirrorless for a while - my Canon doesn't get much action nowadays because of how big and bulky it is. The Sony a6000 came up on my radar and after seeing some test shots and video footage I really started considering getting this. Now after seeing your video I am ITCHING to get this thing, it's freakin awesome!
Your video is straight ahead, and very helpful. When you use an adapter, will autofocus or stabilization still work with the A6000? Again,, thanks, great video!
Going to return the fujifilm xa3, getting the a6000 instead 😍💕! But The lenses are expensive lol! 😅
I know Im late.. but
AMAZING review..
thanks!
@Supreme Tuner I got the Canon T7i (800D) yesterday and its probably the best camera iv bought yet!! If you buy it .. you wont regret it. Amazing camera!
@Supreme Tuner 👍🏻👌🏻
Supreme Tuner Get the a6000. It's seriously amazing, and Sony is 10000 times better than Canon.
Me even late ... 😂
@@qk3 im thinking about it aswell but the a6000 looks amazing aswell
Thanks for your info. I was looking to upgrade my Nikon d3100 and after researching and coming across this review, this made me order the Sony a6000, can't wait to get it!

Technology Mafia , do you still use your Sony A6000 ?. I have one & I also have a Canon one.
Switching from canon to a6000....Just ordered.☺

Fernando Cardenas it's great , i mostly use the a 6000 now. it has some great features.

Jose Costan I don't think so, but I think you can easily render it in writing.

how do you like Sony a6000?
Excellent review. I bought the a6000 last year, here in the UK at a good price due to a Sony summer special offer. I have been using a Canon 40D for years, and found it to be a very reliable camera. A brief experience with the Canon 7D Mk II was enjoyable due to its quality and results, but I just found it was far too heavy for travel photography. Sadly it had to go, and I bought the a6000 which has been brilliant. I agree with all your comments, battery life is much less than my 40D, but I also bought a charger and a couple of batteries on Amazon. As you remarked, the E-fit lenses are stupid prices, so I'd be interested in an adaptor to make use of any of the lenses I all ready have. I have a Pentax ME Super from years ago, with a 1.4 lens, so maybe I'll follow your lead and try it!
Thanks. Nice video. Interested in seeing video about using Canon, Nikon, Tamron zoom lenses and the a6000.
I love the camera. A little awkward seeing and using manual focus with the lenses.
I upgraded from my canon to Sony a6000 this July 2016. I m so happy with my decision now. A friend of mine bought a6300 I did nt find major difference in terms of image quality though. Except the fact a6300 is a 4K but I don't know how does that matter for someone who is just shooting portrait and close ups. I may b wrong in my openion. Could u please suggest best lenses to work with this a6000? For fashion blog photography purpose. Thanks! Cheers!
Check out my newest videos. I would recommend the SEL50F18 as a good portrait lens.
I like my kit lens SEL 18-55 that came with the camera from Costco. They are not the best but, good enough for me taking family vacation photos.
Get the sigma 16mm f1.4!!!!! Best for what you are trying to do.
I am also making the switch from Canon to Sony
I got the camera and now i found you! Just got more and more confident i made a great choice. Thank you! Subscribed to you!
great review what is it like for landscape photos plus what lens would you recommend for landscape photos using the a6000
i like your a6000 review! what lens would you recommend just for videos? thanks
cool video and im planning to make the switch over to the a6000 from a 60d too
+Taizon Taylor very cool! I think you will like it.
+TechnologyMafia Well I'm impressed. I'm a 5d Mark II shooter and I'm drooling over this Sony. Thanks for the video!
If there's an intervalometer for it.... I'm getting one.
Canon does need to bust out some new jazzy tricks... I bet they could too, but I dunno if that's gonna happen...

I'll check it out, thanks!
I wasn't aware of either until I stumbled onto this video and like two days later I was in downtown L.A. near where I live and saw a photographer and his assistant shooting a couple with one of each of the two you mention. The assistant recommended the A6300. I bet I could sell my 5D mark II and get an A6300 and the adapter for my lenses and still have money left over for.... uuuuuhhh some dvds.
the a 6000 can offre you all features that canon 60d do?
thanks
You have just helped me make my mind up about the right camera to get for my budget.
Thank you for the clear review! I have a Nikon D3300 and bought the Sony A6100 a few days ago. I need to replace my D3300 since it is to old and I am thinking about making the step to mirrorless beacuse the autofocus is great and because of the compact format. I didn’t sell my Nikon yet. I tried the camera for a few times and I am very excited!! The image quality is amazing! And seeing your review of the A6000 (pretty much the same camera) it gave me inspiration to buy old prime lenses and put it with an adapter to my a6100! Thank you very much! As is said already, you are straight to the point and inspirational! I subscribed!
for someone who is shooting live concert photos where the musicians move around a lot on stage, do you think the A6300 is worth the extra money compared to the A6000 for autofocus and photo quality? getting a new camera soon and want to make sure i get the best one (: thank you
YOU'D PAY TWICE AS MUCH. I DONT THINK ITS WORTHY, NO.
xell1969 you do get 4k
She said photos.
Honestly, if you are shooting video, then yes. Otherwise, get the a6000 and get a better lens.
Very nice video! I bought my A6000 a month ago haven't really used it since now... do you think it is a great camera for car videos? Like doing rolling shots and stuff? Thanks!
+88elbron88 congrats! Yes, it will work great. For rolling shots, just make sure you have it stabilized. At 60 frames per second it should look excellent.
+TechnologyMafia I have an A5000 and have been trying to figure out how to record in 60fps. What settings will record in 60fps?
thanks
Hey Man! Great video! Thank you for sharing your experience. Do you mind if I ask you what gear did you use for the audio on this video? The mic and that stuff? Thank!!
Excellent review, will you be doing one on the lens adapter?
Holy hell that vintage lense quality blew me away
Dumbass
gotta say... that pentax lens is pretty sexy
Great review. I just picked up mine last night, and have been very pleased with it while still exploring. My 70D has been a bit too bulky and heavy for traveling, and I was searching around for a compact camera that won't compromise the quality of my photos and videos. Just wondering, which glide cam is yours? Can you post a link to Amazon?
tHANK MAN. i JUST GOT THE A6000. Learn alot from you and I didnt know nothing about camera. I look forward to play with this camera the next 3 months. Thank you for the recommendation about the Pentax lenses. How is the pentax lenses different from the 16-55 lense that originally comes with the camera?
Amazing voice.
I just wish this had an image stabilizer!!
The kit lens and the prime lens for this camera have OSS ( optical steady shot )
Awesome! I still have the Canon 60D with 15-85mm as shown in your video and now I actually also thinking of switching.
Just subscribed, nice review. I would like to retire my heavy DSLR for something like this. Question: when you attach the adapter and then connect a "legacy" lens, do you have to use manual focus/exposure? I would assume so...thanks again!
September 2019 😁😁
Great video, thnks. I've been trying to look for an inexpensive camera, now I found one😁 cool...
I've been looking to switch from my d700 mostly due to size and lens cost and having a less in your face camera for street photoprahy and these mirorrless and micro four thirds cameras are very appealing. thanks for the review man.
I switched from Nikon DSLR's to my Sony A6000 and never looked back!
What did you do with your nikon lenses did you sell them?
I am also planning on moving to sony from a nikon d3300.
@@NoahPeeters u can use them with Nikon to Sony adapter(which is very cheap) but you loose VR and AF, and if you want AF you can buy af adapter that costs more than 100$ I think
I had a nikon d7100 swapped for Sony a7 the nikon was a lot sharper plus the raw files are compressed and you get banding all over the place on the Sony!
Great review :) I just bought the A6000 and can't wait to play with it!
thank you for this! it helped me to make a purchase decision!
When transferring photos through wifi, do they loose resolution?
You can chose whether original file or only 2mb file
I open my images with my android phone through nfc and WiFi with my Canon 80d as well
but 80d is much more expensive compared to a6000.
You help me a lot with the review....just got one for my first gear. Awesome
Great videos. Thank you for sharing all that info. I’m trying to decide weather to get a Canon 60D or a Sony A6000 for shooting guitar videos and surfing/beach lifestyle pictures.
What did you buy?
how does it compare with nikon d3300 i wonder. anyone have experience?
i have the D5300 and just bought the a6500.... NO REGRETS! superior camera
Hartanto Agung Wicaksono the a6000 destroys the d3300 in every way, no doubt about it.
the 3300 video capabilities are nothing compared to the a6000
Is it still good to get d a6000 in 2019 2020 ?
Absolutely! Nothing has changed much with this comparison. I've been running my A6000 for 5 months now since I switched over from Canon. Actually, since this video came out, I believe theres even more options for lenses and I know the prices of accessories and components on Amazon have come down in price the last few years. Hope that helps.
@@saucyjack8548 thanks a lot man I really appreciate the reply and thanks for the info think the a6000 will be my second camera I own a dsc-w310 but want something more and I rather the mirror less cameras than DSLR soo I think this a6000 is a good selection of a camera
Very helpful video. Thank you. It is helping me solidify my decision. The kit lens gets some poor reviews, but the adage, "A carpenter never blames his tools" comes to mind. I can't justify spending $600-1000 on a lens for a $400 camera body, but knowing there are so many inexpensive options out there due to its adaptability is a huge bonus.
brilliant review - love the detail of the review
Question: I have the Sony A6000, Sometimes my pictures come out very blurry... even if it is not fast moving/action shot. How can I fix this?
Do you have steadyshot on? Are you taking pictures in the dark? What camera setting are you using?
I have not changed any setting from when I took it out of the box. But yes it usually happens at night.
I am very new to these cameras. I usually use and easy point and shoot camera.
If it happens at night, it's because you don't have enough light around and your kit lens isn't "fast". Try shooting in "A" mode and using flash.
I will try that! Thank you so much
How did you get it so cheap?
Check Best Buy on eBay.
I love your video. Thank you for the advice. Now I know which camera I'm buying!
Great videos and content TechnologyMafia . Do you have any suggestions for best budget lenses for a6000 to use for capturing architecture/ buildings?
is it still worth to buy sony a6000 or 6300 in 2019???
Waiting for the answer....
Same
Yes, I sold my 6000 and I wish I kept it. But it has no mic jack and it doesn't focus well with canon lenses.
sam ur 6400 is best. 6500 makes no sense. 6000 is still good and much cheaper.
So you are comparing an old 60d to a sony a6000 which was released two years ago?
oh, does canon have a mirrorless option or a mini dslr of some type that out performs the sony today?
Canon's mirrorless option is an also-ran.
Because it's his change. That's obvious. If he was on a 5D then switched to a A7 then the comparison will be a 5D vs A7. What's wrong?
dvrapant today I guess you’d compare the Canon 200d to the Sony. Canon is more user friendly , Sony has better imaging I reckon
Thank You. Love that you marry the old with new tech. Also the tips are great.
hello nice video bro..it's one of my reference while i was digging up details on A6000. anyway i wanna ask whats the brand of your lens adaptor? thanks so much.
Thanks for the video BUT I don’t appreciate how you’re generalizing CANON and SONY instead of saying “Canon 60D” bc for example, you’ve mentioned how you like the WiFi being on your Sony A6000, well the Canon 6D has the same capability and the WiFi is super duper easy and it can also work as a remote control with the Canon app on your smart phone. Anyway, just wanted to ask you for future videos to please specify your camera so you’re not misleading people who know nothing about cameras, whether it’s Nikon, Sony, Canon, etc... you just shouldn’t be generalizing the brand and instead mention the exact model you’re comparing to. Other than that, great video! 👍
overheating issues during video?
Sometimes. If i am recording 15-20 minutes straight.
TechnologyMafia i keep hearing about the overheating issue and it worries me.. does it overheat if i shoot videos for like 1 or 5 mins max and stop? like in a wedding
No, if you stop video and record later, there arent issues.
On Thanksgiving 2016, I was able to record 29 minutes 50 seconds (maximum limit for the camera) without overheating issue. One trick to overcome overheating, in case you encounter, is to change the battery.
There are in deed overheating problems with the Sony A serie. I had to wait a few minutes during an important interview for my Sony to refresh. This can be a major problem if you shoot long sequences. There are of course all sort of workaround like opening the battery door, poping out the flah and detaching the lid... but I mean... come on SONY!!...
I bought the A6000 6-8 years ago, then the A6600 4 years ago. My a6600 worked great but was stolen earlier this year, so I decided to wait for the hoped for A6700 that just came out. I was excited, just as you were, for this update, and loved your video (one of the best) on the new camera. I just now caught your video on the A6000, so very satisfying to see how this camera series has grown on you, and how your own video channel has matured over the years :). Congrats :)
Great review, just copped my 1st mirror less !
you do realize you can adapt vintage lenses to the Canon as well right?
But it seems hard to get them focussed. Canon SLRs have no EVF, not even focus peaking on the display out of the box, you must install 3rd party firmware for that which risks your warranty. The affordable Canon SLRs also don't seem to have a split image screen in the OVF, and for some reason installing one is not always easy and is reported to cause problems with autofocus. This kind of expected headache made me buy a used Sony A 3000, which is mirrorless but has the look and feel and good grip of a small SLR for 160 Euros with focus peaking just there.
Its no different on a Canon than doing manual focus with a native canon lens. One can also just enable live view and do the focus that way if the viewfinder is not to be used.
Canon cameras don't have focus peaking which is vital for manual focussing, unless you install the 3rd party software "Magic Lantern" which risks your warranty. Even if you risk that, you only have focus peaking on the display and not in the viewfinder, which also lacks focussing aids like split image, unless you fiddle with a special viewfinder screen, which can become expensive and complicated. I wanted a camera that allows to use the viewfinder with vintage lenses out of the box, so I decided to buy a Sony camera.
Again, this has nothing why you decided to go with a sony camera. My statement is that Vintage lenses can be adapted to Canon - and its function is no different in manual mode than any other canon lens.
It seems you don't read my comments. My statement is that vintage lenses can indeed be adapted to Canon as well (although with problems and rather expensive adapters in some cases because the Canon EOS flange focal distance is longer than that of Sony E-Mount) - but it is harder to focus them manually due to the lack of focussing aids compared to Sony cameras, as pointed out in detail. I researched into it because I wanted to use my vintage lenses (mounts: Exakta and M42) and found Canon would have been too much of a headache.
