  • So I was kinda getting tired of always using Optimum No Rinse. Don't get me wrong, it's a great product and a mainstay in my detailing arsenal. But I miss suds and soaping up my car. I was searching around on Autogeek and came across 3D Super Soap which is a highly concentrated car shampoo and I had to try it. Here's a small review and my thoughts on the product. Enjoy!

Nice video and thanks for taking the time to share it with us. First and foremost, I totally agree with you, suds are for show, and as detailers, we're looking for how well a soap cleans, is it slick enough to protect the paint, and how well does it rinse off. So my questions are: I noticed the soap in your foam cannon was green, so what soap is that? It looked pretty good, albeit you had a fairly clean car to begin with but with your experience how well does it perform as a pre-wash to soften up the road grime, etc.? Also on the 3D Super Soap, what is the dilution ratio you're using when you use it in a Foam Cannon?

Thanks for checking it out. The green soap was Chemical Guys Honeydew, which works really well as a pre-wash. I've used that and Gyeon Foam so far and find their performance on washing off loose debris and softening grime to be almost identical. Both diluted about 7:1. I'll be going back to Honeydew as soon as the Gyeon runs out because it's less than half the price. I haven't used Super Soap in the foam cannon, so I can't speak to that. I would imagine it wouldn't take much though.

Excellent video! How is this for a pre - contact wash? Will it remove grime as a traffic film remover?

I haven't actually used it for a pre-wash. But I do think it may work well, as it scrubbed light road grime off pretty easily. I've used Chemical Guys Honeydew and Gyeon Foam and they both work well.

Have you tried 3D super pre-soak? It's de-con version of 3D super soap, super concentrated also, 1/2 oz for the foam gun

The green soap was that snow foam from cg

Yes the green soap is Honeydew from Chemical Guys. I find it hangs on the panels a bit better than the Super Soap.

How do you stay away from water spots using a foam canon with hose?

Get out of the sun if you can, using pure filtered water helps too. I use well water at my house. It works well but of corse I have to be quick at drying before it spots up. Really not a big deal it’s just an extra step to the process

Have you had a chance to try it in your foam cannon?

I did start using it my foam cannon. Partly because I bought a 6 gallon drum of Super Soap and it's more cost effective to just use one product. It works well though. The only thing is it's a bit finicky on the mixing ratio. It has to be just right, too much or too little and it comes out watery. About 1 capful does it, but that gets tricky when it's already partially full. Lately I've just been dumping the partial fill into my wash bucket and starting from scratch to get it right every time. This is one place the dedicated snow foam is easier to use. If you accidentally put too much in it still works fine.

@@luxurycardetailingthehamptons The 6-Gallon drums don't come with caps :-) so when you say a capfull you mean one ounce? mixed to how many ounces of water in the foam gun?

My soap smells like toe jam.

Funny that you say that. My first bottle had a wonderful berry scent. My second bottle, toe jam 🦶🎸
I'm really hoping that it was a bad batch and the next one is fine because I really like this soap.
