This dude is ridiculous. Wanting to have a baby to decide if your partner is marriage material is just as crazy as people who have a baby to save one. Why should a child have that kind of burden put on it? Children deserve better than that. I think two people who are secure in themselves as individuals and each other, whether married or not, CAN make an intelligent decision about children, but nothing about him (jobless, allergic to the truth, cheating) says boyfriend or husband or father. Ms. Munroy says she saw better things early in their relationship, but that was then and this is now. If it's already going down hill, does it make sense to tie yourself to it? I believe we're making the same point, just in a little different way. The commitment to a child is too important to use that as a "test" of whether a marriage or any relationship is going to work. The gentleman in the video is insisting on that kind of test. What happens if they have a child, then marry, and the marriage doesn't work? By his logic, he could easily say he just picked the wrong person with whom to have a child. Is he going to stay committed to what the child needs or is he going to walk away and look for the next one? I might not think that if he didn't seem so flighty on the other issues that should help make a relationship successful, children or not.
KiddRogers We definitely agree (sometimes I hate typing because it's difficult to get the meaning from people we don't know). We're both concerned about what the long term effects of what he's thinking, with a different focus. As the son of two people (married) that fought a lot, I tend to worry about the children. Your personal experience gives you more of an insight into what the women involved would go through if things didn't work out. Not to worry, I didn't think you were insulting me; trust me I've had people be really insulting on CZcams (which always puzzles me).
For what it's worth, I don't know how long it's been since since you had your miscarriage, but please accept my sincere sympathies. I can't imagine how that must feel. I do hope that today finds you in a better place.
