Hi Sarah, The medium stays wet longer than the actual paint so mixing them will extend the working time. They also make mediums that extend the working time but I dont use them. I try to adjust how I work based on the materials I use, working in layers also helps.Be careful with water, its good for cleaning brushes but when mixing it with a polymer (acrylic paint) it breaks down the paint. Thats why when using water to paint, after your painting is dry it has lost that rich color.
I usually have an idea but seldom know how this idea will end up! If I don't like the outcome I just keep going until I do.I'm glad you like.
Try mixing the paint and medium together first and then block in your colors, this will make them move and blend easily and stays wet longer.You can add more medium to keep it wet.I don't like water because it breaks down the paint and medium ( I do use it to create runs) Enjoy!

The medium will help keep it wet, I focus on time and location as much as I do color, just stay ahead of it and no coffee breaks till its done! Enjoy

no problem, I use Liquitex mediums. Mostly the Matte, gloss, and pouring depending on the effect I'm looking for!
I am absolutely BLOWN AWAY by your amazing talent!! My works seems so amateurish after watching you work - you are truly a MASTER! I am going to ATTEMPT to recreate this but it will never look like this! What a talent! And acrylics! I could have sworn it was oil! Now it makes total sense why the 2 brush technique. BRAVO!!! I am NOT a fan of abstract art, most of it is wannabe art but your stuff makes sense to me. You seem to have a representational quality in your art that puts it a cut above the rest. More like Turner and less like abstract. Very nice.

Just that some abstract art seems to be more of a mess than art, it takes real ability to make abstract art work.

Oh c,mon. In every type of art, there's good artist, and there's bad artist. In realism we have boring no-creative motherfuckers, and in abstractions we have fake, boring no-creative motherfuckers. Just find good artist, support them if you like them, that's all.
