This is my translation from Japanese to English in purpose of educating the Western audience of the cast interviews for Yakuza Kiwami 2, involving the main voice actors Takaya Kuroda, Hidenari Ugaki, Satoshi Tokushige, and Masami Iwasaki. They voice act Kiryu Kazuma, Majima Goro, Daigo Dojima, and Ryuji Goda respectively.

I love Hidenari Ugaki. Love him so much that i can even recognize his voice from just hearing him for a split a sec. Was watching Evangelion rebuild and heard him saying like one line and thought "hm, Goro-chan?" and yes that was him.

1:42 It's always wonderfully cheery how much Takaya Kuroda seems to love this series and his character. Well, I suppose that goes for all of the voice actors for this series! Hidenari Ugaki.....always having so much fun... and Masami Iwasaki goes SO hard. The "translations" for 2:09 gave me a chuckle, it seems like you have a lot of fun with those "subtitles" too. Man they sure hyped up the Majima saga, shame it was quite lackluster.
Gotta express my appreciation for Ryuji's and Daigo's voiceactors though. Those two characters are a big reason why I like Yakuza 2 so much. It really is such a shame Daigo didn't get more time in the spotlight in later entries, his dynamic with Kiryu could have been so interesting. Like they imply Kiryu cares a lot at the end of Yakuza 6, but it's not shown throughout 3-6, where Daigo's character is mostly just a plot device.
As someone who loves every game in this series, I think the transition from the end of Y4 to Y5 is indefensible from a character perspective. Like you said, at the end of Y6 there's a big monologue about how Kiryu now understands he should have supported Daigo rather than leave him alone, but that's essentially the same lesson Kiryu learns at the end of Y4 after the boss fight with Daigo. But the next time we see these 2 characters Kiryu has "unlearned"/forgotten that lesson? Or he no longer cares? But that doesnt fit with Y6 where he acts like he's realising this for the first time. Honestly if you could image yourself being Daigo in Yakuza 2-7, your POV of Kiryu's actions should make you hate the man
@@MikeHesk742 that's very true, continuity between games can be pretty frustrating with yakuza. So much potential for character arcs we never see because they get tossed aside after one game and the characters that do return get sidelined hard.
I doubt Ugaki knew about the actual gameplay of the Majima Saga, he just knew the story from the lines he had to record, ofc it was going to be a more hyped up impression than what we actually got lol. It is a shame tho, I wish majima's story got a bit more time to become more fleshed out and enjoyable

Kiwami 1 and 2 we're my first Yakuza/Like a Dragon games that I played and they are still my number 1 and 2 favorites.
To be honest, I thought Iwasaki would be more of a beefcake, and scary. But, he doesn't look as scary as he sounds. ._.
This man is Kiryu nobody else.
You could tell that the voice actors in the Yakuza franchise is truly having fun playing with their roles!

Dragon Engine sucks for Kiryu, only when Yagami's games came out it became good
@@keifujitora6587 Luckily with unreal engine it seems like we'll be abandoning the dragon engine soon enough. I'd imagine Gaiden and 8 will be the last Dragon Engine games.
@@keifujitora6587 Dragon Engine is cool for spectacle only, yeah. I think there's a reason they mostly gave up on climax battles in Dragon Engine, it's not possible to balance fights to be skill-based in this engine the same way they could before. It works for Yagami, but imo that's only because we dont have anything to compare it to. For Kiryu it's obvious that Dragon Engine takes a lot away from the player, because we can compare it to previous titles. It does look cool though.
